Afternoon snacking is difficult. I want a sugar boost to get me through the energy lulls. Caffeine gives me a headache so I've started having a piece of fruit in the afternoons. A little sweet, a little fiber and then some gum while I prep dinner.

I'm 48 and need to lose 75. Hormones play a huge roll, but 1200 calories is pretty minimum. 1000 is too low. You're going to make it harder if you're not eating enough. The tough part for me is choosing quality, nutrient dense foods over my favorite simple carbs! What are you doing for exercise?
