Whoops - the smoothie has whey protein in it too!

That was not a usual day. That was a huge mistake.

Hi all, I should add some information I've been exercising pretty regularly until recently - 5 or 6 walks a week for 2 miles or more. Life's just been busy and I'm down to 2 or 3 walks per week. My morning smoothies are frozen berries, spinach, and unsweetened almond milk, and I consider that a pretty healthy choice. The…

I had highly-active twins and was usually lone-parent. Our diaper bag was a school-type backpack. I had leashes in our car for an emergency or large unruly crowd situations because you just never know. Thankfully never had to use them. But you're darn right I was prepared to whip them out if needed. They fit harness-style,…

In case you're curious here's our decision: "Honey, we've decided that you may not go. We've discussed our reasons. I don't expect you to agree or understand right now, but you will when you're a parent. This decision was very hard, and we know how upset you are to miss this event. Go ahead and be mad, but our decision is…

Thank you all for sharing your opinions - you all sound a lot like me. A bit more information: 1. My daughter is wise and makes good choices for a 14-year-old, and we have a great open relationship. However, she doesn't want to be the "only" kid not going. 2. We've had a good talk about why I'm resistant, but she's a teen…

I do homemade smoothies. I prepackage 7 -8 and keep them in the freezer. To each sandwich baggie add: About 1/2 cup fresh spinach - yes, it will freeze beautifully! 1/2 to 3/4 cup frozen berries of choice - I like blueberries and strawberries 1T ground flax seed You COULD add a scoop of protein powder in there too, I add…

I'm liking these suggestions of cheat meals, rather than days. For me, it might even have to be a special cheat item. If I eat the "old" way, I get horrible stomach aches, so avoiding pain is a strong motivator. The last 2 weeks I was sick, and somehow managed to go over my calorie limit on several days. Now the scale is…

Hi there! I have lost 25 lbs in about 21 weeks. I usually eat back most of my exercise calories. And some days I go OVER my limit, but I'm still losing. For me the key seems to be exercise - period. If I don't walk, I don't lose much. If I do, I lose more. No matter how much or how little I eat. Hope this helps!

Sometimes I add 1/2 a banana or 1T peanut butter.

Hello and welcome! Your first step was the best one - coming back here! Friend me if you wish. Margaret

ikoj hjim Me again - topic starter I'm not worried, just curious. I'm VERY short, and I mean VERY short, so walking 2.5 mph for me is not at all slow. I just notice that when I kick it up to 3.0 mph versus 2 or 2.5 mph I'm not burning many more calories. I find that interesting. And I give my Runtastic app as much info as…

And wheat-free to boot!

Another card-carrying feminist here. I would never body-shame any woman, and I feel very sad when I hear women do that to themselves. If women took all the energy we focus on our "looks" and rechanneled it, we could RULE THE WORLD! That being said, we women also need to be healthy and powerful. I do myself and my causes no…

Hi There! I'm still rather new at this too. Diagnosed in May. Like Robert said, it's a very individual thing. Also was KDIPIAZZ said is true - eat to your meter. What drives up your blood sugar is also very indivdualized. I can eat popcorn but for some people it's a no-go. But keep the quinoa away from me! I found lots of…

Don't try NOOSA though - it's soooo darn good, and high in calories. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Wow - you are a great example of hard work paying off! You look wonderful.

Women could rule the world if we quit obsessing about our bodies. Eat right, get some exercise, stay healthy, but don't let it rule your world. Go to college, start a business, build something, run for office, fix things, laugh, love. . . . we women are so much more than just bodies that are "wrong".

Hello! I'm having good luck skipping wheat and other grains. Following that rule steers me toward vegetables, fruit, good fats, etc. and away from high calorie, high sugar breads and pastas. I wouldn't say I eat truly low carb, but avoiding grains is close. My blood glucose has stayed nice and low since this switch. Best…

I asked the pharmacist about testing solution, and he said it didn't come with any.

Hi all, Isn't it interesting how very differently we each react? My doctor advised me to try a wheat-free approach for 30 days to see what happens. Luckily my bg dropped nice and low. Lately I've been trying some "gluten-free" foods, but my bg started to climb. So I think grains in general don't agree with my blood sugar.…

Hello and welcome! I was diagnosed in May. I also broke down - worried that my teens would be angry. The doctor replied "Well, you ARE obese you know". Such kind words, like my weight never occured to me. Since then, I've really turned things around through MFP and exercise. I've been able to reduce to 500mg Metformin…

I've had my share of MIL issues too, here's what I've learned: 1. All of life is attitude. Every single one of us can choose how to "see" and react to any situation. 2. Other people are walking a path that is not ours to understand 3. Don't try to figure out people's motivation - see #2. 4. Do what you feel is best for…

You know you're from MN when . . . You support the TWINKIES You hate green and gold together You carry your pretty shoes to parties because you have to wear your winter boots You've injured yourself on sidewalk ice You really, REALLY watch the weather channel You start craving fried cheese curds just before The Fair You…
