Sorry to hear that happened! Almost wish we were able to charge doctors, cable people, etc. a cancellation fee -- they get to charge us, why not us to them? ;-) Happy Thursday all, and hugs all around to all of you amazing people!

I won't lie. It is HARD to go completely cold on grains and sweeteners, but I am now in the camp believing that I'm in a better place when I generally avoid the stuff. When you feel you have the gumption and can plan accordingly, I definitely recommend doing a Whole30 to give the grain-free, whole foods lifestyle a spin.…

Thanks! I probably won't get myself to a full Whole 30 until again until after our vacation (we leave end of the week), but while I'm gone, it's my full intent to just focus on whole foods and keeping grain free (or at the least gluten free, depending on the restaurant we're in and their capabilities to adjust). It's a lot…

Hello everyone! I was off from work yesterday but had a full schedule: took the car for an oil change/safety inspection, errands run, grading for my class, and some batch cooking (grilled up a few pounds of chicken thighs) for the week's recipes. My energy was good until about 8 pm, so I'm guessing I did too much although…

OMG! It's like that article was directed at me! Thank you!!

Good discussion! I actually visited my nutritionist again just yesterday to have her guide me a little. I've been mostly paleo/primal for a couple of years, but not strictly so until now. I did a Whole 30 in August. My endo recommended keeping gluten free because of my hypo/suspected Hashi's. Interestingly, my nutritionist…

Great list! Some off the top of my head for me: Lose the middle roll (hopefully, now that I'm on the right path, this will happen) Physically look like the trainer I am Do a pinup girl shoot Move out of DC to somewhere new (I've been here for 18 years! Enough!) Travel more with my husband

I've started to notice my fingernails actually regaining a little strength and some sheen now even with only a few weeks in on Nature-Throi. I've also added B-12 shots and extra D, as well as trying to get in more grassfed gelatin. Not sure if it's the combination of things, but I'm excited to see them growing again!

Thanks for starting this thread! Just starting to learn...

Thanks for this! I was just diagnosed YESTERDAY with hypothyroid and will have more blood tests tomorrow, but the endocrinologist is CERTAIN I have Hashis as well. And every description of the disease (and its "friends") sound familiar to me/sound like me. I'm both relieved and annoyed to have a diagnosis. Relieved,…

Excellent story! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Exactly!

Yes the first week can be challenging with energy dips/moodiness (from coming off the processed stuff mostly), but you get plenty of carbs from veggies (and some fruit). Dressings can also be loaded with sugar, so it's best to make your own so that you know what's in them. You might want to try a Whole 30 to "ease into"…

Today, simply sticking with the appropriate foods. Enough protein and fat will be a challenge today. This week, keeping my carbs consistently under 100 g and trying to get back into keto. Obviously, keeping the sugar demon at bay...

Don't get into a chronic cardio situation. Working out too much can be detrimental if you don't eat enough calories to sustain yourself (i.e., you burn so much that your caloric intake dips below your BMR). Generally speaking, strength training should be done at most every other day, but 2-3 times in a week is sufficient…

I just discovered Tessemae's. So good!

Oh wow, Amanda, that sounds amazing! I will have to try it--soon!!

So good to "meet" everyone! Welcome! Feel free to friend me if you like... We got this!!!

Sound delish! Thanks!

How inspirational are all of your posts already! Hello, all. I'm MJ. This will be my 2nd Whole 30 (did one last year around this time), and I am working on being more attuned to getting in more good fats as well as paying closer attention to the sources for my food (i.e., no bacon with sugar added, which slipped in…

I'm going to take it just one month at a time. 100 days upfront feels daunting!

I'm in! This will be my 2nd Whole 30! I also had a paleo consult just to check in the week before xmas so I'm feeling more ready! Will have to start to prep this week!

How about egg muffins? Scramble some eggs, throw in some chopped veggies, and then pour into a muffin tin (or use the aluminum muffin tin liners). You can also add bacon to the bottom of the tin, if that's your thing. Bake for around 15-20 and you have a good to-go breakfast or snack (better warmed of course, but not bad…

Very nicely done. And a wonderful reminder indeed. Thank you for sharing.

This is great! Thanks for posting!

Can't wait for the site! I'll send in an update when I have one (just starting this part of my journey). But thanks for the inspiration and information so far!!

That's awesome, and very encouraging to hear. I've begun that process and although I wasn't as diligent as I should have been while on vacation, I'm back at it now, and really am eager for results.

With you! I've got my profile set up to track measurements, too. Going to enlist my hubby to help me do it correctly!
