Does more working out mean more weight loss

Does more working out mean more weight loss? Or not necessarily? How many days is ideal for fat loss?

What does an ideal week look like? I like to spin or run/walk and do weights. Is 2 days enough to weight train?

There is no ideal for everyone. You want 'perfect', you've got a lot of years of experimenting ahead of you. Even then, it will change on you over time.

Working out has benefits for your heart, lungs and joints. Working out means you burn more calories, so that can aid in weight loss, but if you're working out, you do need to eat more. The simple truth is that weight lose = more calories out than in. It's is, in reality, a tad more complicated than that, but that's the watered down version. So, eat leass than you burn daily, and you'll lose. Definitely exercise for your heart health (cardio) and to prevent some of your loss being from muscle (strength train with challenging weights).

Don't get into a chronic cardio situation. Working out too much can be detrimental if you don't eat enough calories to sustain yourself (i.e., you burn so much that your caloric intake dips below your BMR).

Generally speaking, strength training should be done at most every other day, but 2-3 times in a week is sufficient for most people. You need to ensure you are allowing the muscles time to repair (24 hours at least) before hitting the weights again, else you run the risk of injury. Low impact cardio (walking especially) every day is fine, and higher intensity cardio a few times a week as well. As you get stronger, you may be able to add more/longer time periods, but as Jen says above, you need to ensure you're fueling your body for the work you're doing. Eating too few calories will put your body in starvation mode and stymie weight loss just as much as eating too much will.

    Good luck!
