  • Congrats!! I've had many of those great moments myself recently. I love being able to fit anywhere now :) It is awesome that you care and want to help but I don't think you should offer unsolicited advice. If someone were to have spoken to me about my weight it would have embarassed me and made me feel bad about myself.…
  • The best way to hit your calorie and/or macro goals is to plan ahead and log ahead of time. Then you will know where you stand and if you need to add some snacks to meet your goals. Eating what you feel like it when you feel like it is likely to lead you to overeat or undereat and not meet your goals.
  • I love my fitbit flex. I use it mainly to monitor my TDEE and make sure that I am eating at 500 calories below my TDEE. It get me motivated to move more on those days that I see I might not reach the goal TDEE. It does track calories burned during cardio too which is nice (obviously it's not perfect since it is not a HRM)…
  • More water, string cheese, banana, hardboiled eggs, fiber one bar. These are my go to's for when I get the craving for snacks in the afternoons. Keep your desk/fridge stocked with some quick healthy snacks so you don't run to the vending machine.
  • bump to check the website later
  • Oh I have been there. That is one reason why I started this journey in January. None of my clothes were fitting me and those that did just looked terrible and frumpy. Make yourself a plan. Start logging everything, move more and before you know it those clothes will be too big on you. Then you'll be fussing because you…
  • I lost 12 inches doing 30DS. 28 minutes a day for 30 days, can't beat that :)
  • Ugh sodium kills me. When I have a high sodium meal it sometimes takes 2-3 days for my weight to normalize. It is good that you know that this is a sodium/water issue rather than fat gain. Many people freak out when this happens, I know because I used to be one of those people. Knowledge truly is power!!! Drink lots of…
  • Congratulations!!! The first few weeks are HARD!! It gets easier and you will get a rhythm for both your running and your breathing. Go slow, it's okay. You are still running :) When I first started I just knew that I would not be able to progress to the next week and each time I was able to do it successfully. Celebrate…
  • My typical routine was to walk on treadmill for two miles and then run for two miles. When I did the shred I skipped my run (except on the weekends when I had more time). I only wanted to do a 30 minute workout in the evenings so it was either run or shred but not both. It depends on your fitness level and the time you…
  • Great job!! First you had the courage to try something that was out of your comfort zone and secondly you made it 1.1 miles!!! That is awesome :) It does get easier. I started in Jan walking 15 minutes on the treadmill and now I run for 2-3 miles every day and also lift weights, completed 30DS and I'm down almost 70lbs.…
  • I just finished 30DS and lost 5 lbs and I think 12 inches and I feel tighter everywhere. My biceps are especially hard right now and I'm loving it!!! Go for it!
  • I have a little sweet every day after dinner. I like to have 3 squares of Hershey's Bliss dark chocolate (105 calories) or a few midget tootsie rolls (70 calories) or 1/2 cup ice cream (150 calories). I must have something sweet after I eat so I do and you can too. A fun size candy bar is about 70-80 calories too. Don't…
  • bump because I've been curious about this myself.
  • I typically burn around 315 calories during a 30 minute "easy" run. I weigh 195, if you weigh less you may not burn as many calories but if you weigh more you may burn more!!!
  • I've lost all of my weight so far (66lbs) only counting calories and exercising. My plan is that when I take my vacation for christmas I'd like to do some work on figuring out how to hit my macros. Counting calories and making the changes that you need to make are enough work when you first get started. Get yourself…
  • for me it's an awareness thing too. On my lazy days my TDEE is only 1900 and when I see that I will either cut down on my calories or get my butt up and take a walk. Seeing it is enough to get me going. On days where I have exercised a lot of just was busy and my TDEE is closer to 3000 then I make sure I eat enough. It is…
  • I just used your code. Thanks for sharing :)
  • Me too.
  • I swear that one day you posted that your name was not John and that it was Josh!!! I must be losing my mind. Or maybe you are just messing with my mind :)
  • When I run I double up and wear two bras and that helps. As far as butt jiggle, I just sucked it up and after a while of running my butt stopped jiggling so much :) Good luck. I know how uncomfortable it is when your bits and pieces jiggle when working out. Oh and as for the incline, yes it works just as well as running in…
  • I try to remember to go back to my profile and back to previous comments that I have left so I don't leave anyone hanging :) Sometimes I think my MFP social life is just far too exciting!!! And you Josh, are one reason that it is so exciting :)
  • I started C25K in April and I remember thinking that it was boring. It has finally gotten better. Still can't say I love it but I like it. I hope that by this time next year I will love it. I do love how strong and powerful I feel when I am running!!! I have read many posts by vardaeml and since January she/you have come a…
  • Welcome!! Don't get intimidated by the large amount you have to lose. You didn't gain the weight overnight and you won't lose it overnight. Make small goals so that you can celebrate small victories as you go along. Oh and on this site we celebrate NSVs (non scale victories) such as using a smaller belt hole, being able to…
  • I don't know if it's normal but I freak out about food a lot!! Well not as much as I did when I first started but still. Eating too much made me fat and I freak out sometimes because I am doing so well and don't ever want to go back to where I was. Just keep in mind that we all splurge now and then ( I did for dinner…
  • I workout right after work and right before dinner. I feel sluggish if I workout after I eat. I do have a little snack an hour or so before I work out to give me the energy I need to get through my workout. On weekends I typically have a small breakfast (smoothie or oatmeal) and workout an hour or so later. I cannot…
  • I am so sorry you had such a horrible experience. But congratulations on doing something about it!!! Keep up the great work and soon enough your seat will have room to spare!!! You rock!!!
  • Congratulations!! I just hit this milestone myself last week so I totally get the thrill that you are feeling. It is so amazing to see a number that does not start with 2 on the scale. I know I made a vow to never see that dreadful 2 again. Here's to seeing 180 which is my next goal too!! Keep up the great work :)…
