I started when the decision was I needed to lose weight...end of October 2012. This was the last time I wanted to go through this. I put the yo-yo down. I was on vacation at the time so I started with eating better. Wasn't sure what exercise would be for me but the Monday I got home I was in a gym and haven't looked back.…

Once you calculate ALL of those cups of tea with the added sugar and milk you will be surprised at just how many calories it really is. I did this with my coffee with added sugar and flavored creamer and was amazed that I was consuming over 75,000 (YES that is the correct number) a MONTH just in my coffee consumption.…

Looking at just the last three days here is my input: 1) Too many 'quick add calories' entered so you do not have a 'true' picture of what you are eating. 2) Too much bread and items along those lines 3) You do NOT enough protein You need to be more accurate and consistent in your logging of food. You are only lying to…

BUTTER!!! The other processed stuff has chemicals in it and in my opinion should not be consumed. REAL everything .. butter, sugar, honey, no Fat Free, Sugar Free stuff.

I tried this one...cookie dough and it was heavy and not as good as it sounds.

The answer is not to eat less the answer may just be you need to eat the right amount and you may be actually may be eating to little. Yes a novel idea, and possibly true. I tried to go to your page to check out your diary but kept having an error. MFP as you said is a guide not the end all be all number. It would be great…

I see where others are saying you are 5'4" and the goal weight your doctor suggested 184. I am at 5' 4-3/4" tall and currently weight 165 and my doctor said to try for the low 150s to high 140s. Not sure what body shape has to do with it. I agree you should get to the suggested weight and then re-evalulate. My doc is also…

Yes that was the biggest thing for me too! When I first began weighing and measuring (a few months after I started, or what I thought was starting to take better care of me) the food and liquids I consumed in a day. Just in creamer alone I was having over 86,000 calories a month! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Thank goodness for reality…

I am 59 and started this journey in October 2012. I have lost close to 60 pounds. It's not to late. The only time it will be too late is when you are dead. Love yourself enough to give you the gift of good health for the remainder of your life. You can do this. Do what you can and then push yourself a wee bit more beyond…

^ I agree with this. Just like I don't log walking around the mall or other such normal day to day activities.

Oh what a feeling!!! I remember it well! Congratulations!!!

are you never, ever going to eat cookies again? work them into your calorie budget and enjoy. this isn't a diet, its a lifestyle change. nothing is off limits, portion control and moderation is this key.

You may also want to consider eating at the TDEE minus 15-20% method and you'll find you get more calories. If you workout a lot then 1400 calories may not be enough.

There is no question in my mind that a discussion with said friend / house sitter needs to take place immediately. All items need to be brought up. BEFORE you have this conversation go through your entire home and see if anything else is missing. Check your closets, jewelry box, movies/cds .. anything and everything.…

I'd say that is a huge success and a marvelous NSV! I am towards the end of the weight loss journey and haven't logged foods or exercise regularly and although I haven't lost any more I really have been maintaining...which I feel is ok. Now it's time to buckle down and loose these last 6-8 pounds. Best of luck to you!

TDEE minus the 20%. You don't say how many pounds you need to lose yet as a male your body does burn faster and therefore you need the extra 200 calories. They to get that in the form of more protein and you'll lose the lack of energy. Best wishes on your journey.

I do it somewhat like you. I do cover them in cool water and then let it come to a boil but UNCONVERED. I then let them boil at a full boil for about 5 minutes; turn the heat off; cover and don't move them off the heat, and let them sit for 20 minutes. Works for me.

Buy a book so 'they' can read? This is a parent's responsibility. A child asked the question the child deserve an answer..fitting for their age.

And you don't think yo need to explain this to your boys?

Good post, and love the Audrey Hepburn quote.

I use both as they both have value.

Who are you losing weight for? You or others? Be proud of you accomplishments and hold your head up high. I lost twice that before anyone noticed. And btw it took almost 50 pounds gone before I could see the loss myself. Keep keeping on!
-
Just curious, is your profile picture a recent picture of you? If so, what makes you think you need to lose 17 pounds? (I checked out your profile page)

bump need to read more about some of the programs suggested within this thread.

Of coarse! It should show you how many calories you burned; speed of walking and distance walked. You can manually enter this info. i.e.: Walking, 3.5mph; 220 calories, 1 hr Simple

I know that God don't make junk, so therefore I tell myself that I am beautiful in God's eyes; and try to see myself through them.

I was on Metformin for about 16 years as I was 'pre disposed to be diabetic' due to being over weight and family members who were. I am happy to report after losing 60 pounds (in 1-1/2 years) that I no longer require Metformin to help keep my blood sugar in check! I went from 500/mg 1x a day; to 500/mg 2xs a day; to 1500…

I'd suggest you get a good food scale and measuring cups/spoons and start weighing/measuring everything. You are OVER ESTIMATING by a lot if you haven't lost weight in two years. Get yourself to a good nutritionist and get on a different plan. Make time for your workouts. Make time for yourself.
