  • I do a high protein, low calorie diet. Higher protein levels help retain lean body mass and a calorie deficit is the only thing for fat loss. Some people prefer a smaller deficit but that's a personal preference thing. There's no reason it has to be one or the other.
  • But for real, yes. Portion control is probably the single most important aspect of losing weight. Nutrition is very important to overall health but over-eating is over-eating whether it's cookies and ice cream or chicken and broccoli.
  • cream cheese and cucumber
  • I have a body media fit. I set my desired deficit on there and it tracks all my daily activity. At the end of the day, I usually have several hundred to a thousand plus EXTRA calories. It gives me projections on daily burn so I can adjust throughout the day accordingly. I still allow for a hundred or so calories as…
  • This^^ Plus, before two years, everything is measured in months. Clothing size, doctors appointments, vaccines, developmental milestones, appropriate foods, etc... It starts and pregnancy and the month counting doesn't end until two years. To the OP, good luck! Pregnancy was pretty rough for me but I've known women who…
  • This^^ I had a couple ankle surgeries and have prescriptions for pain medications. After my second ankle surgery I got a bottle of 90 percosets (sp?). I didn't take them because I could deal with the pain with just advil but one day my pain level was very high and I went to take one of them and they were all gone (in less…
  • Tagging for all the good gifs. OP, posting about how your current friends aren't supportive enough for you is a pretty sure way to lose friends and make enemies. Borrowing the book might be a good idea (also you can get a free e version if you look). It's also been my experience that the people who complain about friends…
  • I'm only 67" tall  Also, this is not about what I thought it would be about.
  • Ditto. I'm wearing a 6/8 depending on the brand and still losing because I would like to look better naked. I don't know what size I will end up at and I don't really care. ETA: I'm 5'7'' and have a "large" frame and curvy build (small waist, bigger chest and hips). At goal, I'll probably end up in a 4/6 depending on brand…
  • That's not what I said at all. What I said was that the OP went to a doctor who told her that her thyroid levels weren't quite right and that in order to maintain weight based on hormone/thyroid levels she should eat x amount. None of the people who responded to this thread said, "I have the exact same hormone/thyroid…
  • I assumed it was a typo given the number of things she said that suggest that she is hypothyroid. Could have been wrong. No way to know at this point.
  • You look amazing! Congratulations!
  • Aside from the fact that this is a zombie thread... A person with a thyroid issue (un-medicated as the OP said) will burn less calories with everything they do. Their BMR/RMR will be lower than suggested by the calculators, TDEE will be lower than calculated by calculators, and exercise burn will be lower than suggested by…
  • OUTSTANDING!! [OP, sorry, I know you said no opinions but this is quite impressive!!]
  • Weight:156 (5'7'') Calories Per Day:1247 (average over the last 3 weeks) Days/Amount/Type of Exercise per Week: Sporadic at best but 1-3 times per week, mild cardio + strength training (weights) Do You Eat Your Exercise Calories Back? Used to eat some if hungry now I'm working on maintaining my deficit (without regard to…
  • Could we meet at Target instead? The WalMart parking lot smells of urine.
  • Yeah. Also, I learned that I suck at trolling. Apparently my timing is all off. Should have gotten in on the topic when it was hot.
  • I don't know, I guess I just don't like labels. I mean if a guy has time then he's available, right? I can't really keep track of everyone's relationship status and all the caveats in their marriage. Open relationship, closed relationship, polyamorous, polygamous, monogamous who can tell from a glance?
  • Married men really are the best. They don't spread rumors or gossip about you because, really, who are they going to tell? Their wives? They're appreciative and enthusiastic in the sack, you don't have to hang out with their lame friends or listen to their favorite song or watch their favorite show/sport with them. All…
  • Tagging for the lolz
  • Since 1900 July 1914: Simone Pianetti took his rifle and shot and killed 7 people. Upon his attempt to be captured by the Carabinieri he ran off into the mountains and was never seen again and a body was never found. May 18, 1927: The Bath School disaster is the name given to three bombings set off by Andrew Kehoe; in Bath…
  • The doctor, according to the OP, said that over the counter medication was more dangerous NOT that melatonin was dangerous. The reason is that it isn't as carefully regulated (often no regulation at all) as prescription medication. "Supplements" don't have to undergo testing for purity or toxins or actual ingredients at…
  • I didn't read it like that. It just says that it's not a goal one should have. It specifically states that it is genetically predetermined and that dieting to get one is not going to make any difference. It doesn't pass judgement one way or the other about whether one has one or not.
  • Urban dictionary says they're the same thing... IDK, guess I don't follow this stuff carefully enough.
  • Wow, I had never heard the term before. And, really, what a stupid goal. It really is all genetics. Apparently, I have one and still have weight to lose. I guess I don't look closely at other women's crotches because I've never noticed anyone's but mine (and then only because I tried on a pair of jeans and realized I…
  • I'm with you. The answer: Step 1) buy bacon Step 2) cook bacon Step 3) EAT ALL THE BACON!!
  • I started mid January on MFP. I have lost 28 lbs since then (I had lost more before tracking on a different site). I have not lost any lean body mass and have been making strength gains in the gym. I recently got a BodyMediaFit and have been focusing more on maintaining constant deficit than constant calories which means…
  • I like this. Tagging for future reference.
  • When I lived in Virginia, the pronunciation of the cities Norfolk and Suffolk by the locals drove me up a wall. It will not post the pronunciation because it censors it out.
