  • On my bucket list as well. I can no longer run due to my RA - but I have found out that the RunDisney races are very walker friendly as long as you can maintain the 16 minute mile. So for those of you who feel like you have a long way to go - this might be a shorter term goal: work on getting in a 5K in 47-48 minutes and…
  • Favorite park for me is MK and favorite ride is Splash Mountain. But I love all of MK. It just brings me back to being a little girl. As a couple, I'd say DH & I love HS. We just always have such a good time there. The vibe is awesome and the CMs are always great to us there. Don't really have a favorite "ride" there -…
  • We're going in May for a Star Wars weekend & staying at an OKW studio and then back in September for a week - finally to stay at our new "home" with DVC a one bedroom at VGF! Excited for both trips but especially for September. Can't wait to check out the new digs. It looks beautiful!! We do annual passes as well (thanks…
  • I crochet too. And whenever I crave a ton of snackfood - - I pop a piece of peppermint gum and chew on it for a while before heading towards the panty. I read somewhere that peppermint can help to snap cravings and it seems to work for me. I chew a lot of gum. :) A lady at work recently told me that she eats pickles to…
  • I'm late to this topic but am still going to post. I joined the group for a while, but have pretty much just been watching things. You can see my (very, very long) introduction in the DA post for an understanding of my thoughts on the MFP community - not bad, just some thoughts. My goal at this time is to learn more about…
  • Hi Everyone! I'm Jamie, 48, from NC and I am also a Disney Addict! :) I am SO excited that there are fellow DAs here that I can connect with. I'm going to be honest and say that I'm not a huge fan of the MFP community overall. There seems to be a lot of judgment and "you have to do it THIS way" kind of people out there and…
  • I love the boutique section at SteinMart - has a lot of great pieces that are work ready. You can get suits, but I like to buy the blazer separates and pair them with mix & match blouses and bottoms - I can create business suits, casual business wear, and even pair with jeans for casual Friday. I get almost everything I…
  • I'm really sensitive to sodium. Try to stay low sodium, work out a lot, drink lots of water. But I'm like you. Had 2 slices of pizza for dinner last night and on my weigh-in this morning, had gained almost 5 pounds from last week. But I know that's from last night. I snuck & weighed myself Monday and I had actually lost a…
  • It's weird that it's based on our cookies or preferences. Mine are for fast food restaurants more than half of the time and I haven't eaten any kind of fast food in over 10 years!! I hardly ever eat out and I can't recall ever searching for restaurant anything on a computer. Hmm. wonder what else I've looked for that is…
  • I agree with everyone else. I'm not sure you are surrounding yourself with the correct people - although some of it isn't your choice. If all that is going on at work, talk to human resources. There are laws against hostile work places and that sure sounds hostile to me. When I was little, I was terrified of dogs. My mom…
  • I'm not afraid and it's not all "good" fat either. I'd rather have a little bit of something "bad," satisfy my craving and move on. Much better than a binge later on. BTW, the same thing applies for alcohol. I'd rather hang with my friends, have a good time, and consume a few adult beverages than to live my last day on…
  • I struggle with wearing a bikini even thought I've lost a lot of weight. I understand about "jelly belly," because that's how I feel even though my husband also says it looks good. I agree with some of the other posters. A higher waisted bottom (I was even lucky enough to find a pair of bottoms that are similar to shorts…
  • Italian food - my favorite!! I find that if I eat Italian out and I don't get what I want (opting for fish, as an example, instead of pasta), I go home feeling cheated and miserable. So, when we do go out, here's how I do it: Large Salad, dressing on the side (I don't eat a lot of dressing, but I will dip my fork into it…
  • I've never been a good sleeper at all, although it's worse now than when I was younger. 5 hours is a really good night for me. I will say that when I do fall asleep, I'm out. It's five solid hours and not a lot of tossing & turning. I also don't work out at night nor do I eat right before bed. It concerned me for a while…
  • Agree with this. When I first started running, I always felt like I was going to throw up about half way through and I would get rashy and want to pass out by the end. I almost quit until I mentioned it to my Dr. in passing and she said I was probably dehydrated. Once I started sipping water (sip, not gulp), I was able to…
  • I love raw veggies, but hate almost any vegetable cooked. Limp and yucky! I prefer the crunch. I hate mushrooms. The smell of them cooking, ugh.
  • I was a 26/28 when I started in Jan '00 and got down to a size 4 (sometimes a 6) by Dec '02and have maintained it since then. Honestly, if I did it, anyone can. It's all a mental thing - so start by conquering that first. Easier said than done. It took me a year of preparing myself (1999) by researching, planning, and…
  • Me too! I'm a morning workout person, but I always eat after. When I walk at my lunch hour, I always eat my lunch after I get back to work too. Doesn't seem to bother me.
  • Popcorn with butter and salt. And since I try to be good every day, I let myself have it so that my husband doesn't have to live with a raging maniac. :)
  • LOL! Me too! But beer or rum for me. Otherwise, I eat pretty healthy most days and I enjoy it. I don't only eat salads, veggie, & fruit. I just plan it out and cook healthy. Wasn't always the case, guess I just trained myself over the years.
  • Not intentionally, but I pretty much eat the same (or similar) amounts during the day at work, so I find that I have most of my calories at night. Hasn't messed with my metabolism at all and helps me to get a good night's sleep with a fuller belly. :)
  • Great post!! As someone who "figured it out" and lost a great deal of weight, I'm happy for ANYONE who has figured out what works for them and is working to be healthy!!!! Tips and suggestions are great, but we aren't all "one size fits all" and one thing doesn't work for everyone. Period. End of sentence. But guess what,…
  • Yep! I do dance and take group tap classes, but I prefer working out at home. I do DVDs, Zumba for Wii, take walks, jump rope, and also have some kind of strength training going on. I usually get my strength workouts from a magazine (Shape, Fitness) and I'll do them for 4-6 weeks and then change them up. Free weights and…
  • About 10 years ago, I finished a two year plan of learning to eat healthy & exercise and lost 150 pounds. About a month after reaching goal, I found out I have Hypothroidism. My doctor was amazed that I had been able to lose all that weight when I wasn't medicated because it was pretty advanced. I was also diagnosed with…
  • Sweets! Don't like sweet stuff at all. So disappointing when I go out to eat Italian (very rare!!) and the tomato sauce is sweet. I can't eat it!
  • I like Fitness best. I also do like Shape, though. I have subscribed to both for years.
  • Due to some medical issues, I had to do DASH strictly for a while last year to get my body sorted out. It is actually a very healthy lifestyle plan - it's not about being restrictive - but it is about eating healthy. I didn't lose a ton of weight on it, but it was pretty much the way I ate already anyway - just with less…
  • Totally agreed! And, I would add, I also get bothered by the people who have the "cure all" for everyone else. We're all individuals with a specific body composition, genetic makeup, and in some cases, medical issues that influence our weight gain & loss. What works for me isn't going t o work for everyone else! I don't…
  • breakfast - small egg white omelet (I use liquid egg whites, one serving) with some kind of mix in (veggies or small amt reduced fat cheese). Usually I'll put it on a sandwich skinny or an english muffin so it fills me up and holds me until lunch. When I get sick of that, I do oatmeal and a piece of fruit. lunch - as soon…
