...awesome thread - lots to read! Thanks everyone.

I was low on potassium and it brought about a gout attack - now I have at least 3-4 servings of fruit a day. Natural foods like fruit is the way to go for sure.

Goals work differently for everyone. There's only one thing worse than not meeting your goals, and that's not having one in the first place. I personally don't reward myself, but I set my fat loss on goal dates that are meaningful, a birthday, an anniversary or a holiday. It's also important to note, that we need more…

For doing high intensity cardio on a machine - you can't beat the elliptical. I would say sprinting on the treadmill is almost impossible and unsafe, unlike the elliptical where you can go totally crazy by increasing resistance and incline combined with speed for maximum calorie burn.

I enjoy crunching numbers when it comes to fat loss. It's doable. It's a simple formula - but lots of hard work. When I first started at 268lb I was losing 3lb a week. 23 weeks and 57lb lighter, I now lose only 1.8-2lb a week @ 1500 net calories. As I get close to my goal weight by Dec 30, I would only be losing 1.2lb a…

If you're exercising 4 x week - then you really wouldn't be eating 1200 calories. Once you add/eat the calories from your workouts, then you'd be eating over BMR - which still works out at 1200 net calories.

I snack on homemade Oatmeal pancakes. No flour, eggs, salt or sugar. Use yoghurt, cottage cheese or just water instead of skim milk. Peanut butter or cheese on top when it's done.

So far, I've lost more than my 4 year old daughter - by the end of the year, I would have lost my WIFE... :)

It happens to the best of us - it may even happen to you again. So learn from today, but don't stress about it or feel guilty. Eat healthy the rest of the day, don't starve yourself. Eat up to maintenance and get back on track tomorrow.

I feel the same way. I don't need to find motivation to workout. If it means I squeeze in a quick 30mins in a day, I'm happy. If I get more than 30mins, it's only because I have more time that day. I'd do it for hours if I could. Even times when I don't feel like doing it - I just do it anyway. There's no decision or…

Minimum 30mins a day. How intense it is depends on my mood - as long as I always get the 30mins in I'm HAPPY. No need for motivation - I just do it because it's a habit now. If I'm up for it, then I do 60-90mins.

Fellow Aussie here too. Love running, but still recovering from an achilles tendon injury - slowly getting back on track to get ready for City 2 Surf. Feel free to add me.

The excellent support from MFP friends here is half the reason why I still use this site! :) Feel free to add me.

I'm a big fan of resistance bands. After years of using weights in the gym, I discovered resistance bands only 3 months ago due to and injury, and have really enjoyed and benefited from it. Adding extra weight to is so much faster than weights. Either I use a different band color, or just move further away and the…

30lb took me about 10 weeks. I just blogged about this a few minutes ago. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/R4z0r4Mm0/view/i-dropped-50lb-in-30mins-weight-loss-is-just-a-numbers-game-99819

I had the same cravings a few months ago, until someone asked me how much fruits I've been eating. Then it donned, on me - I've had very little fruits! Just for a few days, be liberal with your fruit intake, especially those high in potassium - worked really well for me and got rid of my cravings.

Highly recommend Chia Seeds to help with the bm! You can even mix this in your juices for that jelly-tapioca-like feel in your drink.

I wear a HRM, and my last workout, I burned 571 calories doing 30 minutes of cardio. My heart rate stayed at 90% for most of my workout - I didn't count the 5-8mins warm up and cool down. I'm quite heavy at 231lb - so I just assumed being this heavy would allow me to burn this many calories. I also workout seconds away…

awww.. I would have so taken up your challenge if I didn't injure my ankle a few days ago... next weekend! :)
