Sydney here! Was very active in MFP a couple of years ago and put some weight back on. I'm back again - stronger and more determined as ever :)
-
I'll be there in Nov this year! It's currently winter here in Australia, so I'm looking forward to another one later in the year. Feel free to add me and say Hi!
-
Would love to - but I have a hard enough time monitoring and logging my calories and workouts in MFP. :) They should have partnered up with MFP so they can track what we already do. Should be interesting to see how many people continue the 10 week challenge - unfortunately most will inevitably give up. It's good to see…

Happy Australia Day everyone! Going for a 1hr morning trail run with my wife - burning lots of calories before today's lunch and dinner! :drinker:

I'm in too mate!

From Sydney Australia - feel free to add me.

I'm a runner, but I go to Body Building shops for my protein. http://www.bodyworkshop.com.au/p/4918308/Body-Ripped-Hydroxy-Ripp-Pro---kg.html?utm_source=myshopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Vitamins+and+Nutrition&utm_term=Body+Ripped+Hydroxy+Ripp+Pro+1kg I only take it if I know for sure I won't get enough protein with…

Starting weight in MFP 122kg. Lost 35kg in 9months. Stopped MFP 4months ago and gained 4kg. Getting back into again to lose another 14kg until I get to my goal weight. Slow and steady wins the race.

What he said. http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html But for runners - a meal after my morning run is apparently a must. So I do a bit of fruit and oatmeal, coffee and water after my run and all is good until Lunch.
-
That's excellent!
-
I think it's all about the perceived exertion - everyone's pace and stride is different. 10 being the highest which you wouldn't be able to hold for more than a 30-60seconds without jogging, and 1 being a stroll while window shopping. When I can't run, I walk briskly at an effort of 7-8 - this get's my heart rate up almost…

I love this line in the movie Dodgeball with Lance Armstrong... http://youtu.be/jGtfpzT4Lqw Lance Armstrong: Quit? You know, once I was thinking of quitting when I was diagnosed with brain, lung and testicular cancer all at the same time. But with the love and support of my friends and family, I got back on the bike and…

July it is then! I'm already saying crazy things I never would have said 8 months ago... "I only ran 20km this morning"
-
Good advice, I always keep reminding myself of this during my long runs... this is not a race.. this is not a race... As impatient as I am, I know the faster pace will come eventually.
-
Ok thanks for the advice. That was my original plan, run 2 halfs before my first marathon. There is actually a half in April, 4.5 weeks before my scheduled May half. Do you think I should do these 2 halfs only 4.5 weeks away from each other? The marathon I REALLY want to train for is in July - too soon after my 2 x halfs…

This is what I've been doing. Went from a 2km to 6km jog 8 months ago, then a 7km and 14km race, then my long runs have been increasing 1-2km a week since. I'm now on 20km long runs, still quite a slow pace but much faster than 4 months ago.
-
I guess you're right. Maybe I'm just building a running base then? My pace is still quite slow. I did 20km 2 days ago in my long run - but I really want to improve my pace, and I know that will only come with a stronger base and constant training. Maybe 16 weeks into my training, I may decide I should be training for a…

I'm training for my first half in 31 weeks :) Here's my training blog if anyone wants to follow my progress.. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/R4z0r4Mm0 Would love to read other running blogs too!

Like what everyone else has said - timing is irrelevant. I've eaten meals and snacks before bed, and I'm still losing, as long as the late night snacks are accounted for in your calories. 77lbs lost and more to go, works well for me. The night before weigh-ins though, I'd avoid a late night dinner because of water…

I was going to post the same question - but decided to revive this thread instead! What are your running mantras? Mine aren't too inspiring for anyone else - but works extremely well for me... ---UP HILL--- "Push it!" "C'mon B1tch!" I blogged about this -…
-
By the time I've trained for my first half-marathon in May 2012, I would be 40 years old have lost 101lbs. 2 months after my first half, I will then race my first marathon in July. Just like the usual "flying-dreams"... I have had many dreams of running long and fast - I'm certain this is one of the things I have to…

sydneysider runner here - anyone is welcome to add me

sydneysider runner over here!

try this... http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/caloriecalculator/0,7153,s6-242-306-313-0,00.html I use runkeeper when I run, and sometimes a HRM, and surprisingly it's very close to it.

I'm blogging about my training. I have 35 more weeks to train for my first half-marathon, so I have time to experiment while I build my running base using the Galloway program. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/R4z0r4Mm0/view/i-am-a-runner-244-days-to-go-149006

I cycle my calories over the week, eat less when I'm cross-training and more when I'm running. At the end of the week - my net calories are as is if I ate them all. But I definitely don't subscribe to YOU-MUST-EAT-ALL you exercise calories every day or you'll starve (LOL).

This is just as funny as the myth that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Me too - March 2 :)
