Train for a springtime race... half marathon, trail race, etc. If I'm registered & pre-paid up for a marathon in April or May... it keeps me running throughout the winter months because I HAVE to get the miles under my feet in order to be prepared! If I DO get the sniffles... I'll take a few days to rest & get extra sleep.…

I started Chalene Extreme on November 14th!! I'm following it (the workouts) exactly like she instructs... writing down the weight I use, and INCREASE IT if I don't hit muscle failure by that 12th repetition!! Yes I'm sore... not just my arms! My legs are a-screamin from the squats & lunges!! But I am already seeing…

I LOVE winter training!! :)

Just an observation of personal experience... when I was strength training regularly, I was very toned... had nice definition... and was about 20 lbs lighter than I am now. However, over the past few years, I let go of strength training, and focused my time & energy on running, and bulding distance and endurance. I've run…

Definitely celebrate your loss! But I would suggest weighing yourself at the same time each day you have a weigh in (not everyday!) Congrats!!

We do this at our facility... you'll see people walking laps around the perimeter of the parking lot... 2 laps is 1 mile! Also, when I get a call at my desk, I'll stand to take the call.... it not much, but it's something! I also take the stairs everyday!

Charmer! :blushing:

Food guilt it a horrible thing!! It becomes an obsession to eat the right thing, the right portion, not too much, but not too little... Oh, I have a race this weekend, so I need to carb load, but not too much! My weight shoots up & stays there... I exercise my *kitten* off & my weight either creeps down or yoyo's! Oh So…

Hello Shorties! I'm in! 5' 4.5" Currently 160... and have been stuck for the longest time! I'm on Day 3 of a Shakeology 3 Day Cleanse... my "starting weight" was 162.6 on Monday. Let's see if I can jumpstart myself off this plateau!

Jamacan Jerk Grilled Tilapia (my dinner last night) Place thawed fillets on a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil that has been sprayed with non stick spray. Sprinkle fillets with garlic powder & your choice of Jamacan Jerk rub or seasoning. Squeeze 1/2 a lime over fillets. I cut the tops of a few lemon grass stalks on the…

I don't sell it, but I'm a fan of Shakeology (chocolate and greenberry). It's hard to beat the nutritional value of what's in them!!

Only as a treat... on rare occasions! My kiddos LOVE when I make fresh crepes, spread with a little Nutella, sliced bananas & sprinkled with powdered sugar. NOT a "healthy" breakfast... like I said, only as a rare treat! But oh so yummy! :)

TILAPIA is one of my favorites! Here's how I do it: Thaw the frozen filets. Sprinkle with garlic powder & Old Bay Seasoning and a squeeze of lime juice. Spray a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil with non-stick spray... lay your filet onto the foil & toss it on the grill (or under the broiler). You can choose to flip it…

So funny! I'm actually doing the Shakeology 3 Day Cleanse now... Today is Day 1. I've done it before, a few times... and it works for me. I'll blog about it when I'm done this weekend. :)

Allow yourself to fall in love with the change in lifestyle!! I know (trust me I know) how frustrating it can be when you're toiling away counting every calorie taken in & burned... busting your butt in exercise, etc. But hang in there! Let the lifestyle of being fit & healthy be your main goal... and the weight loss the…

HAHA!! "Wrestling" for 90 minutes burns over 600 calories according to MFP. LoL!!

I just did the Flying Pig 26.2 on May 1, 2011... I'm training (maintaining) for a Women's ony half marathon in Indianapolis this Sept... then whatever strikes me this fall. Indy has lots of great races every fall... if you're in this neck-o-the-woods, check out the Indianapolis Marathon/half marathon or the Indianapolis…

I don't necessarily agree with the vegan diet philosophy. Yes it's a very healthy choice... and honestly I believe everyone should skip the meat a day or two... or three... each week. But I think becoming a triathlete says a lot about weight loss!! I'm not vegan, however, I have many days (yesterday included) in which I…

I struggle with this too... and there are days when I "want" to throw my hands up & quit, but I don't. I got my weight down to about 148lbs a couple of years ago, but it's creeped back up to hover at 160! I've been dieting since January, and trained for & finished a full marathon in May... and my weight is still stuck…

Have you thought about opting for crepes instead of the fluffy pancakes?? I thin the pancake batter down with water... prepare them. Then saute apples & raisins with a sprinkle of cinnamon... and use that as the filling for my crepes, & even dust with a little powdered sugar. They are definitely a treat!!

I THOROUGHLY blew this one last night!!! LoL! Boo Hiss at myself! :noway: :grumble:

I've run many of them... and a couple of full marathons. Feel free to add me & I'd love to help support you in your training!! :flowerforyou: Angie

My two cents worth is JUST GO & have a great time! The only reason I'd stay home, is if you are fighting a fever... everything else is alright to deal with. Don't worry about your official time, just enjoy it! Mild aches, sniffles & sore throat aren't that big of a deal... I've run with those symptoms many times before.…

Have you thought of making your own ketchup?? I make salsa at least once a week... I'm sure homemade ketchup wouldn't be too difficult. :)

OH! Walmart (and Meijer... not sure if you have Meijer in your area...) have carbonated Zero Calorie water... they taste like Sprite honestly, with a hint of different fruit (grape, lime, orange, etc) They are GREAT too!! We buy those... but I still consider them diet sodas, even though they're labeled as "Water". Give 'em…

I can't give you any magic remedy for breaking the habit... only that once that habit is broken, it's not so bad. I use to drink 3-4 Cokes or Pepsis (or Dr. Pepper, A&W, Mt. Dew... whatever) every single day... at least that many! I finally was able to switch the habit to diet sodas... not my favorite, but it was okay.…

I'll be honest... the MORE you drink water, the more you'll crave it! I'm serious... lemonade, tea, diet coke, gatorade... nothing does it for me like water! It had become easier to drink, once I actually MADE myself start drinking it! LOL! I couldn't imagine a day without plenty of water!

I drink Twinings green tea with a tsp of honey & Truvia.
