  • Some people hold on to the handle bar on the treadmill so that the machine will calculate and display their heart rate.
  • I am 5'2" and aiming for around 118-120. Right now I am about 130 and I started our close to 140.
  • I suffered from debilitating migraines for over 20 years. Often they would be 2 times a week or more! My main triggers were T.O.M., alcohol, weather conditions, and stress. A little over a year ago I discovered a cure to the migraines - MAGNESIUM! Turns out I was deficient, which is apparently common with migraine…
  • Not sure why it bothers you. But it is people like you that keep me convinced to keep my diary private. As far as WHY some do it.... I log food preparation if it is something out of the ordinary that takes extra time. For instance, in preparing for a big meal may involve me pacing around the kitchen for 20 minutes, lifting…
  • You all have such inspiring stories! Mine isn't so much. I've gained 20-25 pounds over the last 15 years and, while I still am within a normal weight and BMI (barely) and don't exactly look that overweight, I knew I didn't want to gain anymore and would like to lose what I had gained. Putting on a few pounds over Christmas…
  • I fully understand what you are going through. I don't think everyone can appreciate how busy life can get for some of us. Here are a few tips: 1.) Log your food and exercise early in the day. I find this helps me know what I need to do for dinner (add calories, remove calories, etc.) and also keeps me accountable to my…
  • You will likely loose a large amount of weight quickly while you are on the cleanse. You will also feel miserable and likely sick the whole time. Don't be surprised if you get bad headaches, too. When the cleanse is over, chances are you will gain back all weight lost plus some. Unless otherwise by a doctor, cleanses are…
  • I don't normally have cheat meals. Instead, I balance my meals so that they stay within my macros - so if I know I am going to have a really unhealthy dinner I just have a light and healthy breakfast and lunch to balance it out. That said, now and then I will indulge in a restaurant meal, like Mexican (which I will be…
  • Remember this feeling for next time you feel tempted by these treats. It will be a good motivator for the future. We can't eat perfectly every day. I know this weekend will be a big eating weekend for me (friend coming into town)... rather than make myself miserable, I am going to enjoy a few restaurant meals and wood…
  • OP, I would GLADLY dump the diet for a day or two with the meal you got. I absolutely love seafood, especially shellfish. And actually if you don't drown it all in melted butter most shellfish is pretty healthy.
  • Hi! I had to chuckle when I read "Americanphile in England" as I am an Anglophile in America... never thought about it being the other way around before. Where are you at in England? I have family near London, in Surrey. Beautiful area. Enjoy your visit to America later this year... what state(s) are you planning to visit?
  • I hate to break the news, but based on what you said it sounds like "he's just not that into you." 1.) Possibly cheating or 2.) just wants out and doesn't want to hurt you or else 3.) things just moved too fast for him and he is freaking out a little right now. Have a discussion with him and find out what is causing his…
  • Even if she were right (she's not), cardio is good for so many aspects of our physical and mental health, not just weight loss.
  • Up your points, or dump WW completely and just try counting your calories here. I have had success using the WW system to lose about 4-5 pounds but then I stagnate... and that 4-5 pounds always comes back on (and brings its friends with it) when i go off the program. of course, that was before I learned from the wonderful…
  • Eat more. Those headaches are your body's way of crying out for help. It needs more energy to get through the day.
  • Asking for dressing on the side of a salad will cut the calorie count down big time. It won't help you today, but I have found when I know I have to go out to eat I eat very minimal all day to save my calories for the big dinner. I would rather order something I like, than to spend money on something I don't just to stay…
  • I am also a night owl and absolutely hate mornings. I am not sure waking up two hours earlier will give you the results you want. If you are just worn out during the day, your attitude will suffer. Why not fit in a workout later in the day instead of early in the morning?
  • Here is how I do it, since my TDEE likely changes from day to day (some days I can't exercise at all, some days I exercise a lot, etc.). I make it a point to eat at least my BMR, which is somewhere between 1250 and 1300 I think. After that, I try to eat back some of my exercise calories - but not all. This creates a…
  • Our stats are almost identical. I am 5' 2" (33 years old) with a starting weight of 139 and a desire to hit a least 120. Since the start of the year I have lost almost 8 pounds. My goal from here on in is to lose an average of half a pound a week, which will hopefully get me to 120 by sometime this summer. Slow and steady…
  • I love all of Leslie Sansone's "walking" videos. Very good exercise but not high impact and enough variation that I don't get bored.
  • Hi! I see we are almost neighbors (I am in North Canton). I took a quick look at your food diary and am wondering if maybe cutting back your sodium and sugars wouldn't help with your weight loss. Don't give up. 9 pounds is still a lot of weight loss (that is roughly 1/10th of what you want to lose, right?). Losing the…

  • My strange feeling comes from a financial viewpoint. As in "the large is twice as big but only $0.10 more and has unlimited refills... aren't I just throwing out good money in not getting it?" I've learned to ignore that feeling though. Most of the time. :)
  • My issue with WW is that they put you on a lower point/calorie diet. I am not familiar with the new point system, but the old system had me on 19 points a day (plus 35 bonus points a week). At that system, 19 points averaged to under 1000 calories a day... a little more if you ate a lot of high fiber/low fat foods, but…
  • 5' 2" and I would like to be between 115 and 120. As of writing this I am just under 132 now.
  • Make sure you are eating enough calories, too. Calculate your BMR and whatever you do, do NOT eat less calories than that a day! Not eating enough will cause you to plateau.
