Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all the links and your commentary of what these cookbooks are like. I'm more than willing to deal with stuff I don't like as much in order to manage the diabetes. The challenge is just the finding of workable recipes that don't claim to be "for diabetics" and then include sugars, and…

My insurance won't pay for a dietitian. I went to an endocrinologist at the outset but all she did was go over the basics that I already knew then send me back to my regular doctor. I may have to ask for another referral.

Yes, I lift. But it's light weight high reps because I'm arthritic. Also body weight exercises and low impact cardio.

I should have noted that I've already lost the excess weight, but my blood sugar has not been helped by it. I weigh 118 pounds, but the moment I eat a carb (such as 1/3 cup old fashioned oats) my sugar skyrockets. I have a test scheduled to see if I still produce enough insulin, which is a requirement for going forward…

To explain, the hard part is making anything like a palatable and nutritionally sound recipe as opposed to eating unadorned potatoes, beans, etc baked, boiled or steamed with no fats. Every way that I know to make a pleasant vegetable dish includes some kind of fat, like stir frying. Added fats are apparently verboten,…

This is all kinds of boring, but it fits the bill: Baked chicken and steamed broccoli is a staple here. We are both prediabetic and I do not want to take metformin for the rest of my life. Cube steak, which is lean, and green beans on the side is another frequent one here. Or an omelette with onions and peppers and a…

If you are feeling chronically tired, sore, or otherwise worn down, you have sleep disturbances or it's hard to wake up, or your normal hunger cues stopped working... anything that deviates from your physical norm, then maybe you need a little break with such exercise as a mile of moderate paced walking in place of the…

If you deliberately gained weight, having it go to the belly is no surprise. While paying attention to your digestion, consider recomp (increase muscle mass, decrease fat mass) while making sure to give enough attention to core strength. That should take care of it. Getting enough protein to build muscle is important in…

My experience is similar to yours, but that's a difficult conversation to have on MFP. I'll just leave you with this: You have discovered what works for you; therefore, keep doing it.

Take it day by day, man. Don't think about 50 lbs. Think about eating right today and exercising today, then do it again and again. It will work.
-
Has it always been this way or is this a new issue? If it's new, talk to your doctor. If it's old, I would say to build core strength (so that your ab muscles tighten up) and consider whether you are eating so much fiber that it's blowing you up and making you gassy. Some probiotics or digestive enzymes might help you…

Don't panic. Just say "**it happens" and stick to allotted calories tomorrow.

These types of food are literally engineered to make you crave them. Don't buy them in the first place so that you can't eat them. After enough time goes by the cravings will ebb away.

Since it's still mostly lockdown where I live and the gyms are closed/I'm temporarily working from home, I go out on the deck with a weighted hula hoop during lunch break. Play some music/listen to creepypastas for half an hour and do hooping then go in and eat something, get back to work at 1 PM.

What I want is ridiculous. I want my old house to repair itself!

God no, taking metformin without a prescription could absolutely crater your blood sugar level and cause you a medical emergency. Weight loss does not have to be fast especially if you don't want to deal with loose saggy skin. Amway is garbage, stay away. Injections sound scary and unsafe. Lipo can also have medical…

I find that one of the keys to activity is making sure you have a way to prevent boredom while doing exercise. Podcasts or other entertainment that you can use during activity are a blessing if you ask me.

ISTJ here.

I'm trying to create a routine that's good enough. I don't have machines at home and can't afford them. So you could call this experimental for me right now. hand weights, calisthenics, walking, the usual watching what I eat.... I am not willing to gain any weight back at all. I still have 9 more lb to lose.
-
I understand that it begins in only two weeks!
-
Like say "calisthenics" for my home workout. You can put light or intense effort.
-
It's frustrating. I just try to find the closest thing to use as an estimate.

Congratulations on your beautiful ink!

Dumbbells and body weight exercises. I am considering dancing around the living room for my cardio because it is cold outside and that is not good for my arthritis, so walking is not today.

Speak to your doctor (maybe on the phone, now) to discuss a reasonable goal for your body type and age.

My husband goes through spells of various games. This is one of them. We also have Fallout and Thief Deadly Shadows. I like weird point and click adventures myself. I am a PC gamer and not console.

Housework!

Thank you Malted! I've been cutting my own hair for years.... husband checks the ends to make sure everything is even. I always thought I was just being cheap, but now that the salons are shut down we are going to be seeing some really interesting hair on our friends and neighbors! XD

Something ate my reply. I would really advise seeing a doctor in person. I would not take chances.
