  • That's happened to me before. But you have to let go of the past. Just because you failed to stay on track before, it doesn't mean you can't succeed now. Also, one of the most important things I learned is that when you encounter an interruption, you have to try to come back from it the very next meal. You can do this!
  • Agreed. It's your job as a parent to guide your daughter, give her the tools and set her on the right path for a healthy life as an adult!
  • My mom suggested I start jogging the summer before I started high school. I wasn't overweight but I wasn't doing anything active. I started with short distances at a slow pace. It wouldn't have occurred to me if she hadn't suggested it and I wasn't offended. I started running more and more and made varsity cross country by…
  • Haha I guess you're right! Thanks for the encouragement. :D
  • Thanks! Over the summer it took me close to three months to lose ten pounds, which is why I am not sure how fast I can lose the last nine. My approach has been rather slow and steady but now I'd like to get to goal a little faster!
  • I weigh every morning. It's how I keep myself in check and motivated to eat healthy during the day. Also, if I've eaten a lot and I weigh the same, it serves as a reminder that I don't have to be crazy and restrictive all the time. Hope that makes sense.
  • If that dress fit you six months ago, you can't be too far off from fitting into it again with a little effort! Get a food scale and start accurately logging your food! Get out there and exercise. You'll be pleasantly surprised how consistently the weight will drop off of you. As for your family making comments, I don't…
  • I think that I finally wanted to change my bad habits more than I wanted to persist in them. I realized I didn't want to look back on all those years I ate dessert every night and feel ashamed of myself for wasting my youth eating crap. Really it came down to wanting to change more than wanting to stay the same. I still…
  • Great suggestions. I've always been a runner, so while I associate this season with eating, I also associate it with getting out and exercising in the more bearable weather! Also, I like your ideas re fruits and squash!
  • Thank you everyone who replied to commiserate! I hope you all do well this fall with losing, maintenance or whatever your personal goals are. I'm trying to get back on track since posting. I did okay this weekend, not great but good enough that I think this will be a good week. :)
  • I admire your resistance! Don't let my weakness become yours too! Lol. And sorry to pose the temptation! Good luck at your physical in December. I'm sure you'll do great! :)
  • Base layer shortbread, middle layer salted caramel, top layer dark chocolate. Like a grown up twix bar. At the risk of getting flagged, want me to share the recipe? They're not low fat, low carb or low sugar and are probably my biggest temptation.
  • Thanks for the tip!! Maybe instead of restricting myself and taking an all or nothing approach, I'll have to be more balanced.
  • I'm ten pounds away from my goal but now I'm at a weight where most of my clothes fit. It's an awesome feeling.
  • Ugh what didn't? Mostly it was my bra straps digging into my shoulders. But nothing fit or looked good on me.
  • Don't feel bad about doing something that will make you feel better about yourself! I had lasik surgery three years ago, totally unnecessary but one of the best decisions I've made. I've had moles removed (gross I know, sorry but it's relevant!) just because I thought they looked ugly. I feel so much better about my…
  • I love the "strong" look and OP, I don't see any loose skin on you! Congrats and you are an inspiration!
  • Something similar happened to me last fall. It was extremely frustrating! I had joined the gym because I needed to lose the 11 pounds I gained after my wedding. I ended up gaining another 12 pounds in less than a month! I was doing some moderate lifting and a decent amount of running, but nothing crazy. You know what my…
  • Great advice, OP. I have learned very similar things in the last six months, through trial and error. Eating fresh, whole foods is better than eating processed crap and sugar and leads to more sustainable weight loss. Eating everything in moderation certainly does not work for me! Congrats to you on your major loss and…
  • I weigh myself every morning. Yes, the number on the scale fluctuates. But I find that I'm more likely to keep myself on track throughout the day and week if I have an idea of what I'm weighing and how I'm progressing. I think the important thing is that I don't get hung up on seeing the fluctuations or obsess over it if I…
  • Actually on second thought, you'll only find anorexic thighs on chive.
  • Are you sure my fitness pal is the right forum site for you? This topic seems more suited toward chive. Go ogle juicy thighs there all you want.
  • Thank you everyone for the support. My appetite is out of control and working out seems more difficult, but it's temporary so I won't sweat it. Nomorecakekp, I hope you find the right balance between managing your lupus and meeting your fitness goals. :flowerforyou:
  • Thank you! I won't be on it for too long and I'll just view it as a bump in the road. Thanks for the sympathy.
  • I agree with the previous commenters. 1200 calories a day is great in theory but wasn't sustainable for me. I started to see real progress when I increased my calories to 1600 a day (may be more or less for you), got a food scale, and started weighing and logging my food accurately and consistently. Planning meals for the…
  • Focus on the positive things that have happened since you lost 82 pounds. And for some people, there's no self control. Some foods just need to be cut out. I'm one of those people. I know a lot of people on here say, oh you can eat whatever you want! I eat ice cream every day! Just log it! <-- No!! This approach just…
  • I start the day with a loss on the scale.
  • Terrible!! What's up with *****y older saleswomen? I'm glad you bought the shirt despite her nastiness and even happier that it fits you now! I smell a Pretty Woman type scene where you return to the store in that top and show her what's what!
  • Being able to zip up a dress that would not zip at all six months ago. It draped so nicely it brought tears to my eyes. I didn't really think I could get this far but somehow I did.
  • Two to three weeks isn't really a plateau. I find that I tend to stay at the same weight for a few weeks then I'll drop another pound or two. I wouldn't worry about it just yet. Keep up the good work and you'll see a loss again soon.
