This was my entire point.

Some of you guys are flipping out saying that .5 loss in a week isn't a plateau and I'm over here trying to figure out how you can even track such a small change to begin with. I fluctuate 5-10 lbs just depending on the time of day. If my "actual" weight (however that works) were to change by a half a pound, there'd be…

Does no one just go out in the sun anymore?

That's excellent, I plan to take a 4.5 mile walk when I get off, like I do every other day, but how does this help me come up with a lifting plan?

I don't think a couple hundred calories is enough to make a difference. When they say don't eat at a deficit of more than 1000(ish) calories, they aren't talking about the person who sometimes has a 1200 calorie deficit, they are talking to the guy who burns 2900 calories a day and eats 800.

You guys just take every single word someone writes literally, to the t. I don't mean that you have to spend the rest of your life not eating things you enjoy. I also don't mean that you can NEVER have things you enjoy, or that are calorie dense. What I do mean, and was obvious in the original post, that is if you aren't…

You really don't have the right to ask someone to do something that would inconvenience them just because you have some type of problem. Now, as your husband, he should take it upon himself to WANT to help you, at one end of the spectrum because you are his wife and its the right thing to do, and at the other end of the…

Hi, I'm buttercup, how do pounds work?

Or do your cardio in a trash bag. That'll knock it out in 2 days, maybe one if its hot or you're outside in the sun.

It's really easy to tell someone they can eat "whatever they want as long as they stay within their calorie goals" but that's not practical. If they eat, for lack of a better word, really delicious food, they are going to be starving to death by the time they hit their limit. I call advice like this (in any facet of life)…

Unless you are wrestling/fighting/whatever where you have to "make weight" you should never worry about anything within a 10lb window for guys or a 5lb window for girls.
-
That's an odd pattern for a man. My first two weeks I lost nearly 20lbs, obviously not of fat, but getting rid of all the crap (literally and figuratively) as well as water weight from lower sodium and all that. Then it took me about month to lose the next 20, and then I slacked a little and half way through the 3rd month…

I eat the fire outa some fruits and berries. Pineapple is my very favorite, along with raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and bananas.

It depends on how big you are to begin with. I started at 283 and I'm somewhere in the mid 230's right now (depending on what time of day you put me on the scales) and while I can tell a difference in my clothes, and how I feel, most people really can't see much change. It's sort of an "Oh yeah, I guess I can see you're a…

it depends on your definition of "works." Of course the math shakes down accurately and, in theory, if you eat at x deficit you'll lose y pounds over z amount of time. But this doesn't include the human variable factor. If I try to count the calories I get so caught up in math problems and making sure I weigh it the right…

I know this is heresy around here, but I don't count calories. It hurts more than it helps because I get to caught up in it. But I would like some kind of "close to accurate" idea of what I'm burning and eating to keep a mental note of where I'm at.

In the confrontation between the river and the rock, the river always wins, not through strength, but by perseverance. Are you the river, or are you the rock?

35 pounds isn't enough weight to really need to worry about sustainability. Especially if you are only gonna be cutting for 4 months. That's only 2 lbs a week, less if you account for the fact that shes gonna lose 5-7 lbs in the first 10 days just for kicking the junk (sodas, bread, salty stuff, etc.) Neither of you are…

I was sick for about 10 days, and didn't sleep much while I was sick, but the hunger didn't set in until after I was already feeling better.

I lose about 20 lbs a month, but I started out at almost 300 lbs and I am only 5'5''. It's not impossible, but its also not what most people do.
-
I eat at about a 1500-1600 deficit. I am only 5'5'' and weighed almost 300lbs when I started. I want to lose 140 which would put me at 150.

Got up early enough to exercise (its the only time I can squeeze it in).

I play D&D on Sunday nights and we always have a big meal. So what I do is just make sure I get a good hard workout on Sunday afternoon to help me offset those extra calories I'm going to be taking in. I can't exercise hard enough to cover ALL of the extra calories, but I can get enough of them to not feel bad about eating…

I don't think there's a chart for what you're looking for. I think its more of a "well how fat are you?" situation. The fatter you are, the more weight you can lose safely per week.

Primarily the ambiguity in the choices of activity level.

You didn't pay attention to what I said in my other thread and you obviously aren't paying attention in this one either. In my other thread I said that I had no problem eating at a deficit while I am trying to cut weight, but my concern was long term. In this thread I said I have my daily goal set to BMR and my phone…

Just eat at chain restaurants that have their menu on MFP, particularly ones with nutrition conscious menus. This isn't good long term advice, but for a short trip like that, it will save you a lot of work and headache.

I was gonna type a long thing, but this saved me some time.
-
Just take a small pocket sized notepad and a lottery pencil and write down everything you eat and how much. log it later when you are home. Make the best guess at portions you can. Normally, you wanna weigh things and get an exact figure, but for one evening, making your best educated guess will be ok.

VLCD is only for people who are morbidly obese. This doesn't seem like a good diet for most people.
