Interesting difference in the mentality of men and women as it relates to being fat.
I was pondering to myself the other day - #ShowerThoughts - If you tell a woman she would look great if she just lost some weight, she becomes offended, and hurt by the comment, but if you tell a man he would look great if he lost some weight, he takes it as a compliment, and puts real thought into the suggestion,…

I've had trouble with hunger in the afternoon, so I've made room for a snack. Suggestions?
I have about 250 calories worth of space that I can eat in the afternoon and I'm trying to make the best of it. I know 250 isn't a whole lot, but I'm trying to find the most satisfying way to do it. I want something that I can have a (relatively) large amount of as long as it taste decent. I could eat a small candy bar,…

Where do you guys get your workout plans?
I am in the process of cutting weight, so I need a workout plan that will be conducive to that. I have been in and out of weigh rooms my whole life and I know what to do but I just am not good at pairing things together. Is there a site I can go to that I basically tell it what I'm trying to do and it will just give me a…

"You can eat whaver you want, as long as you eat at a deficit" is true, but it's garbage advice.
People don't want to eat 1 slice of pizza, or a 1/4 of a plate of Loco Rice, or 7 chili cheese fries. They want to have a meal. If you eat the "right amount" of junk food to stay within your calorie limits, you're going to be starving to death and it's going to cause you to eat more. Eating food that doesn't taste as good…

Something that has helped me lose 50ish lbs and counting...
Its super simple. I just remember that until I'm finished, no one cares about my weight loss but me. Once I'm done, sure, others will care because ideally when you're in better shape you become more physically attractive. But right now, and for a long time, no one cares. No one cares how your clothes fit. No one cares how…

Is there an accurate way to determine how many calories you burned during a certain activity?
I have entered the exact same data into about 5 different calculators trying to determine how many calories I burned while walking. Each one gave me a different answer, ranging from 540ish to 750ish. (I am pretty severely overweight and I walked 5 miles so thats why its so high) but I don't know which one is accurate or at…

I have had no problems controlling my eating until the past few days, my hunger has been awful.
Who else here has been chugging along doing great and all of a sudden, with no other changes what so ever, hunger hits you like a brick wall? I haven't had any problem fighting off the hunger for the last 8 weeks, in a lot of cases I've felt good about what I'm eating, but this week, all of a sudden out of no where I am so…

How long did it take you?
So from day 1, how man pounds had you lost when you really started to notice a difference in yourself. I don't mean small stuff like moving up a belt hole, but I mean that real first WOW! moment. I remember last time I did this it only took about 10-15lbs, but this time around I've lost almost 20 (yes I know my MFP profile…

This is why people gain weight, and why losing it is so hard.
So I just did a little experiment. I started out just trying to see how many calories I would be able to eat per day once I reach my goal weight. The number was shockingly low. My TDEE, not including any exercise, will be 1899. That number hit me hard, I don't know how I can possibly live my life eating that few calories.…

Different way of setting up MFP
Instead of putting in my information and letting MFP do the work, I have mine set up to where my "goal" is BMR, and I have my phone (which never leaves my person) log my steps sync'd in, and then from there I eat at my daily deficit. Anyone else doing something similar?

Well here we go again...
So I've had weight problems my whole life, I've been back and forth, several times, between 150 and 275 for 2 decades. I'm 275 now and trying to get back down under 200, maybe lower, but for now the goal is just to get under 200. I'm only 5'5" so you can imagine how morbidly obese I am at 275. I'm on an 80 fast start plan…

Vacation this weekend
So I'm going on vacation this weekend and while I'm not going to be super anal about my calorie count, I'd like to maintain some kind of order to what I'm doing. Food won't be an issue for me, but when it comes to alcohol we are gonna be drinking quite a bit every day. I normally drink Redbull and Jager or Captain and…

I've been doing cardio but I want to start lifting...
So my wife and I joined a gym and we've been doing cardio several days a week. Id like to get back into lifting as well. I havnt lifted since high school and then I just did what was written on the board and unfortunately I've found it difficult to remember what to do and when to do it and what to pair with one another. So…

It should be required by federal law...
...To have printed "Nutrition Facts" for every menu item in every restaurant in the country. It should be required to have it available either in print, at the front of the restaurant, or online for anyone to read. Does anyone else get as frustrated as I do when they go out to eat?

Where does weight go?
Scientifically speaking, of course. How does the mass leave your body? Through sweat? Excrement? Or does it just vanish into thin air?

Under 200lbs for the first time in 3 years
This morning I weighed in at 198. This is the first time in 3 years I have weighed less than 200 lbs. When I met my wife I weighed 145lbs. We went on lots of dates eating lots of good, but really bad for you, food. I VERY quickly shot up to about 185 or 190 and then proceeded on and didn't stop until I reached 260 lbs. I…

Anyone else here with a very high protein goal?
I have used various calculators to determine how much protein I should be eating each day and it seems like I should be around the 185g mark. I am finding it nearly impossible to eat that much protein, stay within my calorie intake, and not hate my life. It's almost like one of those scenarios where they say "Meet your…

Trouble meeting my Macros
I'm having a little bit of trouble getting all of the protein that I need in a day and it's throwing my percentages off. I feel like I'm eating well, and based on my calories, I am within 100 calories of where I aim to be every day. But I need some suggestions on some high protein, low fat, low carb foods that I can add…

How close is "Close Enough" for you?
Obviously, most people don't eat EXACTLY 1863 calories (random number, whatever your exact calorie count is) each day. So what is your "give or take" amount that you shoot for? I try to be no more than 100 under, but never over. What about yall?

This is why people can't eat all of their calories...
I have noticed a lot of folks are saying they have trouble eating low amounts of calories required of their diet structure. At first glance, this doesn't make a lick of sense. How in the world could someone end up so fat, usually eating 2 meals and snacking late at night, and then claim they aren't capable of eating a much…

Very frustrated with MFP, help!
What in the world am I doing wrong? I have my Net calories set at 1350, so that by the time I eat 2000 and exercise 650 I will be spot on what I wanna be, however, for some reason MFP decided to only allow you to adjust your Macros based on a percentage rather than a number, I can't adjust my Macros correctly. Is there a…

MFP "Goal" settings help
What I'm trying to do is set my self up to where I eat 2000 calories in a day. MFP asks me if I am "sedentary", "Lightly Active", "Moderately Active", or "Very Active" I work a desk job so I am Sedentary during the day, however I exercise 6 days a week burning about 600 calories per day. I assumed I should tell MFP that I…

Walking vs Running/Jogging
When I get home in the evening my wife and I usually go for an hour to hour and fifteen minute long walk that usually ends up being 4 to 5 miles. I usually burn around 600 calories and she normally burns about 300. We've been doing this for a while now and I have lost enough weight to where I can pick up the pace. My wife,…

Tip for the n00bs, Don't get scammed.
I would like to take the time to help those of you who may be new to weight loss/fitness. Some of these programs are complete rip offs and don't work at…

Weighing Daily VS Weighing Weekly
I have heard, and can make, a VERY reasonable argument for both sides. I have my own opinion but I am interested in hearing everyone else's. Go!
