  • My sister (a nurse) gave me an NHS sheet of leg exercises to do when I hurt my hip falling down some stairs. I think most physios or even GPs would be able to find something similar - my sister works in a minor injury unit and just posted me a copy. The consultant (or whoever) you see about your hips may be able to…
  • Big difference between correlation and causation. What if parents of children with autism are buying organic foods to see if it makes a difference? Therefore more children with autism = higher sales of organic foods.
  • I've had bad varisode veins for several years (and I'm only 26 :o( ), mainly genetic. I went to the doctor who put in a referral to the consultant, but I was declined because they almost always come back - especially if you get pregnant. He said the best thing was to lose weight and exercise more. I don't like how they…
  • I log them separately, the app I use tells me my pace for each interval so I take a rough average of the running segments and a rough average of the walking segments. E.g. today (week 3 day 3) I logged 10 minutes of jogging at 5mph and 15 minutes of fast walking at 4mph.
  • I got home from work, got changed into my running gear and went to round up my boyfriend (much fitter than me but is doing C25K with me for moral support!). He looked out of the window and said 'are you SURE you want to go running?' and I realised that yes, I really was! I ended up leaving him at home on the sofa and doing…
  • I did W3 D1 today, was dreading the 3 minute runs but just slowed down and did it :) was barely going faster than my walking pace (8km/h rather than 6km/h) but I did it!
  • I did my first 5 C25K runs as laps around our local park. Today I was brave enough to branch out to a local National Trust trail - it was hilly and muddy and all sorts of terrain but I loved it and managed all the runs without feeling like I was going to collapse! I can definitely tell that my recovery time is improving as…

  • Bump - an incredibly motivating series of stories! I'm currently set to 1200 and eating that + exercise calories without feeling too hard done by but having read these I think I'm going to try upping it. Doing Davina exercise DVDs that have some strength built in but also going to have a go at the 100 press-up challenge.…
  • I can't tolerate lactose, and after trying a few different alternatives my favourite is rice milk. Don't really like the flavour of soy, almond or coconut, but cold rice milk on cereal is really tasty. Even my very picky boyfriend likes it with chocolate milkshake powder - apparently it tastes like coco pops!
  • Just done W2D1 for the second time... after a 7 week break! Wasn't quite as painful as I expected, although my normal route had been chained off so my cool-down walk ended up being a mile long. Not sure whether to do W2 a few times before moving to W3, seems like a big jump...
  • Did it! Well, the 200 crunches anyway - 100 normal, 100 bicycle. My Jack Russell puppy thought it was a great game so most of them were done with her lying on my stomach!
