Honestly, maybe you need to see a counselor. You have a guilt eating thing going on, and you have have to find another coping mechanism that isn't a self-reinforcing, self-defeating cycle. This is nothing to be ashamed of - millions of Americans have the same problem. It IS something you might need help stopping, though.…

Saying that something is "cheating" implies a lower level of effort or skill are required - and that you are possibly violating some rule - to attain the same results. That. Is. Not. The. Case. with gastric bypass. It requires an incredible level of effort, bravery and will to be successful. It requires a life-long level…

Holy god, you look awesome. I cannot wait to join you!

Thank you for your advice, Amyrebeccah. I'll go light on the inbetween days.

Me too! 100.2 lost :) Yay for us :)

I totally agree with Tricia - look at this as an opportunity to really change your life for the better; get someone to talk to and to help you become a better you all-around. Friend me if you want!

Today is my 66th day in a row logging in! My goal is to make it to at least 365 days of continual logging.

Awesome! I'm 3.6 lbs. behind you!!

I had an RNY on the 15th of January. I was back at work full-time 3 weeks later (had been back part-time from home for a week before that). The first 3 weeks are the hardest, IMO, because you're struggling to find a rhythm, and your body is like "NO! I have no idea what's going on!" After that, it gets easier. I've lost 96…

Steamed Broccoli, Asparagus or Green Beans - Misto with a little olive oil, salt and fresh ground pepper... ye gods!

I can't say it any better than Grim already did; I might add not to be shy about telling the nurses and Dr.s if you're in any pain. Let us know how you're doing after!

I was starving after the walk, and ate just enough to make that go away (~100 calories of Guacamole & baked tortilla chips). A Fitbit is on my list of to-do's. I just moved, so I'm tight on cash this month. I'll pick one up next month :) I've suspected that the calculation for BMR is totally off for me - it says 3100, and…

That last sentence made me laugh so hard! It's so true. I've lost 85 lbs. of a goal of 200, and I feel like I'm always cold now! I joke with my coworkers that by the time I hit goal, I'll be a skinny ice cube.. :)

My insurance required a BMI of 42, or 37 with co-morbidities. I was at 52, so it was no-questions-asked. They required a 6-month waiting period, where I had to be monitored by the doctor. My surgeon required cardiac, pulmonary and other tests, which were all covered by my insurance. I've lost 80 lbs. so far - over 1 lb.…

Funny, I already use the Syntrax Vanilla Cookie Torte and Chocolate Truffle powders. They're amazing compared to the rest of the garbage I've had. I didn't know they had fruit punch or lemonaid. I will try them! Shrimp and scallops have been my goto "real" protein foods. I've had a bit of trouble with Chicken (makes me…

Thanks for the replies. This afternoon I added 1/2 an apple to my lunch, which had previously been mostly 85% protein. That seems to have helped a bit. It's good to know that other people experienced some tiredness issues. I can up my sleep to 8 full hours a night without a problem, so I'll do that. I'm trying to figure…

IT Manager at an Early Childhood Ed. publisher for 2.5 years now. It's pretty awesome providing IT for former kindergarten teachers, after having done IT in the finance industry for 5 years. Talk about low-stress!

Well, you have 5 days left! Consider finding a gym with a pool, and paying the per-day fee. You can do some Water-Walking for low-impact exercise. Also just watch your intake very closely - you need 6 - 8 cups of water per day to function, so don't go below that. Make sure you're drinking mostly WATER, and not sports…

Did they tell you to lose some weight first?

Keep in mind that, at weights as high as a lot of us start out at before surgery, our water weight can fluctuate by 5- 10 lbs. in a day or two (have you been drinking more water, since you can't eat? are you drinking fruit juice with a lot of sugar? gator-aid with a lot of sodium?). Also, there are a LOT of people who…

Looks like croissant dough wrapped around a cone mould (maybe brushed with egg & orange food coloring), baked and then filled with egg salad. Super cute to serve, possibly a pain to eat!

I joined MFP for the calorie tracking system after Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass, and found a lot of amazing people helping each other get and stay healthy. I'm Aaron :) 1. Where were you born? Troy, Ohio 2. Where do you live at the moment? Bethesda, MD (1 Metro stop from DC) 3. Where else have you lived? Johnson City, TN…

THANK YOU to everyone who suggested Syntrax Nectar Sweets protein powder... It's AMAZING!!

Suzanne - I had a lot of trouble eating anything the first two weeks, so I lost a HUGE amount of weight right at the start. Don't envy me - it sucked really bad. I'd rather have lost slower and not gone through 2 weeks of constant nausea! I definitely started to lose more when I went back to work; like you, I can't…

Thanks for the replies. I'll talk to my surgeon's nutritionist tomorrow, to get an official number. I'll also go get a blender or Magic Bullet. I'm desperate enough at this point that I just bought $120 worth of assorted protein supplements to try. Hopefully I find something that works.

One of the best pieces of advice I got from my surgeon's required group therapy was, simply, "Do not watch the scale!" You should weigh yourself once a week. Your weight fluctuates constantly, sometimes by more than 2 lbs in a day. Also, always weigh yourself at the same time of day, in similar cloths (or lack thereof). I…

Jane- I had a Roux En Y gastric bypass on Jan. 15. I've lost 60 lbs. since then. Kara is right so right about how to think of the surgery - it is just a tool. I would add that it's an expensive, difficult, extremely effective tool. People who think that Gastric Bypass is "the easy way out" are completely insane. It's not…
