  • I stir-fry broccoli slaw, a giant bag of kale, cabbage and some chopped red peppers in olive oil and then freeze it. It can be popped into the microwave with your protein of choice. You can pre-cook the meat and add it to the stir fry before freezing as well.
  • Hello everyone. I'm in Brevard County, Cocoa area. I love outdoor activities and just got a new (leisure) bike for Christmas. Anyone have tips on good/safe places to ride?
  • Hello everyone! I'm looking for new friends to help keep me going. I've been here for a couple of years but have been slipping lately (before the holidays). I just turned 50 in October, had all of the "fun" welcome-to-50 physical stuff and got a clean bill of health. I like to eat "clean" when possible, prefer outside…
  • I either have oatmeal with raisins and walnuts or a smoothie. Let me know if you want recipes.
  • Yep, but my acne has never gone away my entire life. I haven't had a period in over a year, but still have night sweats and hot flashes. I had a lot of sweats/flashes last year and then the past few months, nothing. I thought I had gotten off relatively easy, but they're back this month....When the flashes went away, so…
  • There's no way to get off of sugar without pain...just like quitting smoking or any other addiction, but my favorite panacea was organic plain Greek yogurt, to which I added raw honey and a touch of peanut butter. What worked best for me was to plan my entire day's menu in advance and then just refer to it when I got…
  • Looking for clean-eating friends who don't judge...lol. I'm pretty good, but not militant, 50 year old, married, mom of two adults. I love outdoor activities as exercise, but I also enjoy a good gym workout a few times a week (especially in the summer when it's super hot here in Florida). Please friend me if it sounds like…
  • Hi everyone. I'm straight, married to a man for 16 years and the proud mother of a lesbian who will be (legally) marrying her wife sometime in the next two months. They were married in Key West in Oct 2013, but until this month, it was not legally recognized in Florida. They got their marriage license on Jan 6th to make it…
  • I used to try to find ways to work sweets into my diet (organic ice cream, etc.) and finally realized how addicted I was. The cycle of craving is endless and maddening. I was doomed to fail. I watched some of those programs on Netflix regarding the effects of sugar on our systems and it has REALLY helped me cut way back.…
  • Have you talked to her about why she's buying/making these things and not coming to the gym with you? Any change in a relationship is hard and she may be feeling "left back" or like a failure. Watch all of those Netflix shows on sugar, diabetes and healthy eating, together and see if you can get back on the same page.…
  • How I gained: Antidepressant and lots of ice cream and sweets, thyroid removal and getting older. I've never been a big "food" person, but boy did I love my sugar. I had just started taking the weight off when I broke my ankle. That put me out of commission for a few months and back into my old habits. I gained about 35…
  • ^^^^^^^That's a fantastic rate of loss. Don't change anything until or unless she stops losing. Two lbs a week is perfect!
  • Probably the healthiest thing you can possibly do for yourself! Congrats!
  • My daughter is a girlie, girl lesbian, too. She is also engaged to be married in October. She had the exact same experience just a few days ago but when she informed the older woman that her fiancee is a woman, the woman replied very positively. The world is definitely changing for the better, but it's going to take a…
  • I hate crumbs on the counter!
  • Well, I'm not quite 50 (next year) and I'm not LGBT, or a male, but my daughter is a lesbian. I love her fiancee' dearly. They're getting married in late Oct! You're not alone...I'm more of a minority on this forum than you...lol
  • In a frozen grape smoothie with a banana and yogurt...tastes like pbj!!
  • I've been through this, too. Extreme stress makes me nauseous. Try sipping smoothies...with plenty of nuts for added calories. Hugs
  • Yep, I was recently car shopping and there are car dealership ads at the top of mine....
  • I'm on every day. Feel free to add me.
  • I love baked oatmeal. I make a big pan of it (my fav is apple, cinnamon with pecans). I cut it into 12 servings, wrap them and put them in the freezer. I just grab one and heat it up w/milk or eat it cold if I'm in a big hurry. I also make a crustless veggie quiche (serves 4) and rotate that throughout the week. I like to…
  • all of this^^^^^ If the opportunity presents itself, I will mention how horrible diet soda is to a non-family member, but I usually reserve my "education" for my family members...My daughter (29) takes most of my advice to heart, if not in practice, but my mom and hubby refuse to believe anything they don't want to hear.…
  • Peanut butter frozen yogurt from any of the numerous yogurt shops in the area. Some have organic frozen yogurt, but not peanut butter...yet!
  • Many of us have recipes on Pintrest, too. One of my favorites is baked oatmeal. It can be done so many ways and is sooooo good. Most recipes you already make can be altered to use organic or healthier ingredients. A bit of trial and error and lots of suggestions for new recipes will go a long way. Good luck! :flowerforyou:
  • I've been at this "clean eating" thing since high school (I'm 48 now). I'm not fanatical, but I try to make the best choices (when I have a choice). Even my junk food is usually organic...did you know Publix sells organic ice cream and cookies? Feel free (anyone) to add me. My diary is open..although I've dropped the ball…
  • Organic crunchy peanut butter in plain lowfat organic Greek yogurt with a smidge of honey. *drools like Homer Simpson...
  • Tell them (maybe with a bit of snark in your voice) that you TRULY appreciate their concern for your health but that your doctor says your incredibly healthy, that you feel fantastic. Tell them you've worked very hard to get where you are. Then you can tell them you've used MFP to help you manage your program and you'd be…
  • I think it's the best thing when someone wants to embrace another culture. Just because a person isn't born into a particular culture doesn't mean they can't enjoy, celebrate and embrace it. One world, people!
