No carbs means you will be eating pretty much just meat and eggs. Even dairy has carbs. I wouldn't recommend that. However, a LOW carb diet would let you include veggies and dairy into your diet, which would be much healthier in terms of nutrition. When I maintain a low carb diet, the fat just melts off me and I find it…

With that kind of work schedule, I could only do it if I worked out BEFORE work, b/c after work I'd be too dang tired. If you can do it, so that you get up an hr or so earlier, that might help. Long days make it rough.

Officially almost over the hill, and refusing to cooperate!

I lift as heavy as possible (low reps/high weight), and I hardly look bulky or manly. And btw, I'm 47. So this works. Just sayin'.

Believe what you want. But I will bet you anything that if you look at the people with 6 packs, or look at any fitness site/mag (like bodybuilding.com or Oxygen), you will see that it is critical to clean up the diet - eliminate processed foods, esp. those high in sugar (and refined flours/pasta etc are included in that).…

English, German, Spanish, and French (all that comes from growing up in the US with a German mom, that moved to France, and my living in S. America, and of course, studying all that in schools).

Finally, figured out how to join the group, lol! Yours usually says that you're a fun loving guy who is dedicated to working out. Now it says that you're dapper! Mine says that I deserve the right to post this pic b/c I have earned it the hard way! At least that's what I think it says?

That's hilarious!!

LOL!!! You've been here too long, JR. It's getting to you!

I take: Whey protein Creatine BCAAs fish oil selenium C0Q10 Vit E Vit D multi-vit reservatrol That seems like a lot, but I am 47, so that makes a difference.

While it is true that an overabundance of calories is ultimately what makes you fat, it is also true that the type and quality of calories matter. Not all calories are created equal. The body does not respond the same way to carbs as it does to fats, when it comes to insulin production (which leads to fat retention). Some…

I've only met one so far, and we've become good friends!

I think it depends on your goals. If you're grossly overweight, and need to shed a lot, cardio will get to you drop more weight more quickly. Strength training will improve your muscle strength and size, and over the course of the day, will help you burn more calories while at rest than if you don't have that muscle mass.…

I used to do a lot of stress eating/emotional eating, and I found that I had to FORCE myself to ask this question EVERY time I wanted to put something into my mouth - "Am I REALLY hungry? Do I need to eat this?" Usually, the answer was no. At first, it was kind of hard, but the more I did it, the easier it became, and now…

It is true, you can't build up if you are on a calorie deficit. However....take a look at my pic - and that was all from strength training AND calorie deficit (more clean eating, really). Now that I am at the point, I have been steadily increasing my caloric intake, b/c 1) my body burns more, and needs it and 2) I'm trying…

I used to have a terrible sweet tooth, and LOVED bread/pasta. Now, about 6 mos of a fairly primal diet, I don't miss any of it, and I don't crave it anymore, either. I still have some bread or chips or chocolate from time to time, but I find that as long as it fits into my diary, the cravings don't come back. I'm so glad…

I always work out alone, too. I find that I get a better workout if I'm doing it by myself, at my own pace.

I've found this to be very true for me, personally. Now that I've lost a lot of weight and body fat, and am working on my muscle tone, WHAT I eat is critical, and not just eating a certain amt. of calories, but making sure that those calories that I eat, are quality calories. There is truth in the "you are what you eat"…

At first I did the Body Pump type classes in my gym. Then I did ChaLean Extreme. Now I'm going through the book, "New Rules of Lifting for Women". Each one is great in their own way. The classes helped introduce me to lifting, and also had a nice social aspect. But they were limiting, once I got to a certain level of…

Oh, and stay in your 20s forever. That helps. ;)

Weight training. You've lost the weight. Now you need the muscle. And once you have more muscle, you will burn more fat all day long, even at rest.

She probably just assumes that b/c you've been willing to do Mondays, that you still are willing to and/or want to and/or need the money, whatever. But until you tell her that from X point on, you won't be available on Mon. anymore, she'll keep scheduling you. Good luck!!! That's a tough one, I know.

Everyone talks about what you need to do for exercise, but the KEY component to getting definition is your DIET. EVERYONE has a 6 pack. EVERYONE has triceps. They're just covered with fat. If you want to SEE them, you have to get rid of the layers of fat over them. Of course, making them bigger will help. But ultimately,…

I started walking first with my VFFs, then jogging, and am now running in them. I love them! I find them so much easier to run in than running shoes. In fact, about a wk ago, I tried my nice running shoes again - I could barely run 1/2 the distance I can in my VFFS. The VFFs are so much lighter, like there's nothing on…

Mine says that I'm proud to have a body worth showing, and that it can be done.

I lift, 3 days/wk. For those who need to do it at home - ChaLean Extreme is a great tool (I used that in the summer when my kids were home). At the gym (now), I use the book, "New Rules of Lifting for Women".
-
Check out the website bodybuilding.com. To get more cut, you need to (in general): 1. lift more, and heavy 2. do less cardio 3. eat cleanly 4. eat less carbs, and more protein The book "New Rules of Lifting for Women" is great to follow, too.

Wow!! Awesome work!
