I need a BOUNCER!

Here's the story...I work part time Tuesday through Thursday...it's been this way for almost 4 years. Since we sold our farm, our office manager is always asking me to come in on my days off for one reason or another and I always do. We're getting electronic medical records soon and there's some data entry that needs to be done & she asked if I'd come in on Mondays during September (only from 10-2 she said) to work on that. I agreed. So far, I've worked ALL DAY all 3 Mondays this month & none of it was the data entry. Just come in the office and hit the ground running like a typical work-day.
Now, she just handed out next month's calendar and I'm on the schedule every Monday again from 10-2. She never asked me if I'd work another month of Mondays and she knows good and well that I won't get off at 2pm. I don't WANT or NEED the extra hours and this has taken it's toll on my usual routine of working out on my 4 days off that I had in a row. I'm so mad right now I can't concentrate. I'm not one for confrontation and I never stand up for myself. It's my own fault but I just hate it. I know what I need to do but I can't bring myself to do it.
Help? Advice? Someone want to stick this calendar up her butt for me!??!

Time for the confrontation.0

She probably just assumes that b/c you've been willing to do Mondays, that you still are willing to and/or want to and/or need the money, whatever. But until you tell her that from X point on, you won't be available on Mon. anymore, she'll keep scheduling you. Good luck!!! That's a tough one, I know.0

lol,, yes ma'am confrontation time for sure!0

^ agreed.
Take the schedule to your boss and say "Hey, no. We talked about me doing some extra work just in September. I have other commitments and am only available for my usual shift - sorry."
End of story.
You might not like confrontation, but it looks like you've got person here who will walk all over you if you don't speak up.0 -
I can only imagine that she has assumed that you wanted to work more .. Although a big assumption on her part, if you don't tell her otherwise, she will never know. THAT is not a confrontation .. that is communication. You have communicate what you want, and she has to communicate what she needs .. THAT way you can negotiate the deal so everyone is happy.0

If she knows you only want part time, and I believe she does, I would skip her and go to your favorirte physician in the practice and tell him/her. It has been my experience from working with office managers, physicians go over their heads all the time.0

I will come take care of business for you! I think I could do some serious damage with these Jillian muscles!0

Saying something like, "I just wanted to say I'm surpised that you scheduled me for Mondays." might, maybe..????? sound less threatening than a full on confrontation. I don't know. Whatever you do, don't keep it inside, or you might explode.0

Well, y'all will be happy to know that I told her. I just simply said, "I'd like to go back to my normal work schedule next month." Simple as that. What made it even easier was that I had to email it to her. I had to tell her before I left work on Thursday and when I left, she was in the office with the boss and the door closed so I couldn't interrupt. I got a reply back later saying she had taken me off the Mondays and I'd be back to my regular 3 day schedule. Yippee! :drinker:
Thanks for the encouragement folks!0
