  • Wow, hats off to you, doubt I could do the 100 metres but a mile?
  • Welcome back, I need to get going again too, regained about 22 of the 33ibs I had lost..... I'm aiming for a 10lb weight loss in January, have you set a target? All the best.

  • Add up to a tea spoon of honey to sweeten it up, different honey's have different flavours too, I like acacia honey.
  • I know that warm drinks before running can bring on bowel movements....
  • There seems to be a certain amount of inaccuracy, me & my running partner use the same running app, run together & get different distance, pace etc... Ours uses GPS so I suppose it's down to how accurate that is?
  • Good for you.
  • Another 'failure' although I don't think failure is the word, 3lb off this week, 8lb in Feb... We're all losers..... Thanks for all the support
  • I've got dodgy knees and run, I have running shoes suitable for someone my size & gait, I make sure I take anti-inflammatories every morning and after a workout, and I use ice on my knees immediately after every workout, don't forget the benefit of stretching correctly after exercise.
  • I can only tell you what works for me, eat well in the morning and through the day, no need to snack in the evening... Breakfast at home 7am, breakfast at work 10am, lunch at work 12.30pm, fruit at 3pm, dinner at 6pm occaisional treats if I deserve them but generally not hungry even after excercise.
  • I keep mentioning this to my partner trying to get her running with me, I'm not super fit but am up to a slow 4 miles so far.... I have dodgy knees so good stretches when finished, ice on my knees when I get home.. most importantly good running shoes.
  • Latest weigh in 241 down 2lb this week, 5lb loss in Feb.... 10lb is going to be very hard but I'm not giving up.
  • Sounds about right, but even 30 mins running will burn plenty of calories, whch will have an effect, I wouldn't worry about the science too much. I do some running but my partner only walks the dog for excercise, she eats properly and she loses weight.
  • Difficult to answer but, I buy normal supermaket green tea, not sure what's available where you are but we have lots of brands (PG, Tetley and even 'own brand') I add a little honey to sweeten it....
  • OK all wish me luck, I've been runing a little trying to build up, also doing some intervals, but tomorrow I'm going to do 4 miles.... No ifs or buts, I'm going to do it, hope it helps for this weeks weigh in..
  • Hi all, some good progress being made, some real good efforts, good luck to you all.. I seem to have slowed down, 2lbs off 1st week of Feb, 1lb off this week....... From 246 start down to 243, but last weekend was a big one so I'm happy to get even 1lb off, can I get 7 more off before the end of Feb? Well I am going to…
  • You can get apps for phones that track your walks and show how many cals you burn, we walk our dog every day and know how good it is for us.

  • Just had a quick peek at your diary and it could be that you're not eating enough, and putting your body into starvation mode...
  • Guilty, although I would never have described myself as an athlete, just an enthusiastic amateur.
  • Found myself drinking white wine spritzer with soda water trying to be good, found out that my boss drinks the same, but has a splash of beer in the top so that it looks like a beer....
  • I'm no expert but I believe that the body does need a certain amount of fat & carbs to survive, I would assume that a small deficit would not do much harm but eating no carbs such as Atkins diet is bad, eating too much carbs is bad as when the body doesn't use them it is stored as fat... The numbers are for guidance, keep…
  • You've done it before, and you can do it again, and you've taken the 1st step.
  • I have a friend at work, a former PT in the RAF, he says, if you're not hungry don't eat them, if you are 1000 calories under every day then you might need to modify your diet, but if you've excercised hard but feel good then don't worry. I know some people disagree, I have used my excercise calories for treats at times…
  • Hi all and good luck for the challenge ahead, this week I've moved 2lbs, down to 244, after this week I'll start weighing on Mondays, unfortunately I'm away this weekend to relax, eat & drink with some friends, so hard work ahead for next week and the rest of the month. All the best
  • OK I'm up for that too, I'm a little competetive so I'm sure this will help. Unfortunately I have a weekend away planned for this week so I'll have plenty to do next week and for the rest of the month. I haven't weighed today, my weight on Sat 29th Jan was 248lb So I'll set my target at 12lb loss for Feb, target 236lb My…
  • There's no easy answer, when I feel rotten I crave chocolate and find it hard to resist (endorphins or something like that I suppose) BUT I have been advised that it is good to have a 'blow out' maybe even once each week to make sure your body doesn't get accustomed to the regime, I don't blow out that often, I'll be…
  • Some good tips thanks, I especially like the one about turning down the heating, although I doubt I can convince my missus to follow that one
  • Hi there, I find that if I eat properly in the morning I don't need to snack in the evening. I have breakfast at 7am at home, breakfast again at 10 at work, lunch at work 12.30, fruit at 3, dinner at 6-7pm then maybe a fruit / yoghurt snack after walking the dog. I am within my calorie goal & rarely feel hungry, if however…
