My recent readings have thrown out that too much exercise actually has the opposite effect; especially too much long cardio. By overworking the body for long periods of time, you increase your endurance but at the same time the body will try and hold on to fat to fuel your long runs etc.

Mine at 5ft 3 is 107lbs to 140lbs. 107 would be ridiculously thin. Personally, I'm shooting for the middle of my weight range if possible. But then it depends how much muscle you want to pack on; when I played rugby, my BMI said I was obese, not overweight, OBESE. My doctor said to ignore that as I played impact sports and…

Had mine a couple weeks; feel free to add http://www.fitbit.com/user/26ZTMN. Currently ill so walking not so high but trying to hit 10k a day!

Perhaps try increasing your calories a couple hundred a day? With all that exercise I imagine your body could do with it. Also perhaps some brisk walking/several rounds up and down the steps to add in some cardio. Agreed exercise isn't necessary but in other health terms it is and also helps create a defined look rather…

Hey guys, My goals are to be fit and healthy, as well as getting my body fat % down. Currently at around the 140lb mark but pretty much all my fat lies on my stomach. I know it's the last to go but is driving me insane! Would love to be under 130lbs but I'm not TOO bothered about the scale.

can I join please?

I used to get the 'you're pretty and nice but I just don't like you that way' alot going through school. Majority of the time it was because I was overweight. I only got bullied about my weight by my sister but this is the closest thing I got outside of family that seriously hurt me.

I've done a lot of reading and this is the best, free strength training it seems. I'm starting it today as I am bored of the baby weights the gym staff have me doing! Good luck :) http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-eason-livefit-trainer-phase-1-day-1.html

I've been told swimming is as bad as running for a strained calf :/. I did my arms weights session today but I felt pretty pathetic without my usual cardio warm up and finish :/. I'll give cycling a go tomorrow but pretty sure it engages the calf?

I agree with this guy. I also am 'sedentary' for m,y job but I manage to get 20k steps in a day plus a minimum of 4 workouts a week. If I go based on my sedentary levels I end up bloated and hungry. I'd start off as moderate and see how it goes. Perhaps increase it slowly after a couple weeks?

I'd like yo join in also if possible?

1200 is too low unless you are only a couple pounds from your goal. NHS losing weight suggests 1400 for women anyway and 1600 for males

Your BMR comes out at 1258 so 1300 is about right I'd reckon. You probably need to focus more on the types of things you're eating if you are gaining at 1300. For body fat you need to put in some resistance/weight training as at your weight cardio alone won't do much. I recommend dvds like Jillian Michaels 30 day shred or…

What's your age? Also if it's BF% your on then you need to eat pretty much at maintenance with a high protein diet, with lots of strength training.
-
Using bodybuilding.com and your stats, your BMR is 1694 so no wonder your boday didn't like the 1200! I'd say you want to eat about 1800 on rest days and 2200 on gym days

You'll still lose at a deficit without exercise but eventually the body will get used to it and so exercise is the best way to keep the body guessiing. Also, high sodium levels can impede weight loss; it makes you retain water. Get that under control by cutting it as much as possible and drinking plenty of fluids :)

Hey :) I could do with some UK friends! I live about 1hr30 from London.

"You don't need to count calories, you barely eat anything" - Given by my sister.....counting calories has helped me eat more and actually lose at a faster rate! I used to eat mayve 1000 calories a day. Now on 1600 and I'm losing about half a lb a week. I was restrictive on my calories and barely ate any fats as I was…

Thanks everyone! Does anyone have any quick breakfast ideas that are low carb? Oats are good as I can whack them in the microwave with water and strawberries for 2mins. Yes I'm typically low on protein. Even on days where I include meat at lunch and dinner.
