  • Tonight I made a roasted meat and vegetable dinner. This is very versatile because you can choose what vegetables and meats to add and the kids can even choose which ones to put on their plates once you have cooked it. I used potatoes, carrots, summer squash, cauliflower, portebello mushrooms, onion, chicken breast…
  • Amazing difference! You look great.
  • Wow! I want to be you!
  • Congratulations! I can't wait till it's my turn to post this!
  • I have read so much advice about using the pool, water aerobics at the Y, etc. I have to wonder if anyone else had the problems I did with that. Last winter I was going to the Y for water aerobics. I would have loved it except the water temperature felt cold to me and caused both my knees to stiffen up and lock. By the end…
  • I only know what didn't work for me. I stopped logging food for two months but made sure I was only eating healthy foods and tried to make sure my portions were right. I gained 20 pounds and became hyperurecemic (gout) from eating too much protein. So now I am trying to combine a diet to lose weight with a gout diet and…
  • I don't ever rely on mfp numbers for exercise. Today I used my elliptical for 30 minutes. Mfp said 547 calories burned. My elliptical showed 237.
  • I use CoffeeMate original. At 20 calories per tablespoon, I don't worry about how many cups I have in a day. I usually only drink coffee in the morning but if I get the urge, evening coffee is a nice treat for me. Frankly, if I had used all my calories, I would still feel ok about going over by 20 calories for a cup of…
  • You look like I want to look. Congratulations!
  • Ok, here is a question from someone who knows absolutely nothing about lifting. Don't you use your knees when you lift weights? I have badly arthritic knees and hips so I figured lifting was out for me. Also have had lower back issues. Was I wrong? Can I lift without making my knees worse? If so, should I wait until I get…
  • It would have been nice to know this many years ago. Bacon was cheaper than birth control pills back then. Lol.
  • I have a granddaughter who always packed her lunch because she was a small eater. The teachers made the kids finish everything on their plate and she just couldn't eat that much. At first my daughter packed her a half sandwich, yogurt, carrot sticks and a dill pickle along with a carton of milk. The granddaughter always…
  • Here are three sources I found doing a quick search: I am sure there are many more and just as many stating the opposite opinion. I know that I did gain weight each time I stopped smoking; even when I diligently watched food intake. I finally quit for the last time last November so I won't have to worry about this anymore.…
  • That's what I call dessert!
  • I recently got a HRM and started using it. Before that, I imagine I was "lying" on my exercise but not intentionally. MFP overestimates exercise calories by a lot. Today I was wearing my HRM while I push mowed part of the yard. It showed 418 calories burned. I looked it up in MFP's database and for the same amount of time,…
  • I saw several post on here talking about Topamax. I would like to share my experience with it. My neurologist prescribed it for me about 4 years ago because I get daily migraines. I was on it for three months before begging him to take me off. Turns out I wasn't on it long enough to have to be weaned off. That was the good…
  • I would feel like I was starving on what you are eating. I only looked at today and yesterday in your diary. 6 fish sticks is not dinner. 3 chicken strips and 12 french fries? Hon, where are the vegetables and fruit? I noticed on today's, you are under 1,000 calories. Perhaps you still plan to have a snack before closing…
  • I didn't plan on posting in this thread but after reading the whole thing, I realized no one mentioned the reason I have for being overweight. Mine was not low self esteem or fear; it was mostly ignorance and poor medical advice. I was never overweight as a child or even a teen. When I got married I weighed 117 pounds and…
  • I had never heard of this so I looked the book up on Amazon.com because they always have reviews that I read to see if I want a book. First of all, on this diet, you have to give up a lot. Examples: dairy, wheat, corn, soy, caffeine. No way am I giving up my coffee and milk! Then I read a review where the person showed the…
  • Look at you! That is awesome! You look about 7-8 years younger in today's picture. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to me.
  • I just love seeing pictures like this. It gives me hope. You look great. Congratulations!
  • No disrespect intended but to all those who said losing weight is easy; no, it is the hardest thing I have ever done. At 17, I had a 22 inch waist and weighed 117 lbs. Fast forward a few years, marriage, pregnancy, weight gain. I started yo-yo dieting 40 years ago because I didn't know how to lose weight properly. Any time…
  • I drink ice water year round but then I really like water and only like it cold. Or if I am going to drink it hot, it needs to be made into coffee or tea. :)
  • I have a family member who doesn't pronounce all the letters in words. For example: Cold becomes coe. He says that is the way his mom taught him to talk; so he knows it is wrong but does it anyway. That is annoying!
  • I have coffee with coffee mate every morning; 2-3 cups. That is the only way I like my coffee and I don't plan to give it up.

  • Coffee with CoffeeMate non dairy creamer. I have it every morning; as many cups as I want. Always at least 2-3 cups. I don't log it and don't really consider it food. It is just an essential part of my morning.
  • Probably not if you eat those peppermint patties and that dinner tray. :) I think before you are going to lose, you need to wrap your mind around the idea. Remember: "Nothing tastes as good as healthy looks. " You have to want it a lot to be able to do it.
  • 1. don't know what this is 2. no
  • You are not alone. My husband can eat anything and never gains weight. He is a rabbit hunter who runs his dogs three or four times a week and his metabolism is awesome. I am so jealous! He doesn't eat the same way I do either. He loves his candy; especially milk chocolate, cookies, cakes, puddings, and ice cream. Oh yeah,…
  • Hi. I have been on here for a couple of months. I am 63, started on here at 250 lbs. (highest weight ever), and have lost 12 lbs. so far. It is slow going when you are older but I am trying to be patient. I have lost 3 inches on my waist and 3 inches on my hips. I figure it will take me almost 2 years to lose a little over…
