Losing weight without this website?

Hi. So I've been doing a great job losing weight by using MFP these past few months. However, I'm going to be going on vacation to Europe and, well, it's summer, so I'm always busy doing something, and I don't want to rely on my phone/computer anymore to log what I eat. I've been slacking on using this. I still intend on exercising and eating well (I don't eat any bread, sweets, soda, juice, heavy/greasy foods, dairy), but I just want to know if anyone has any tips for basically going on autopilot to still continue losing 1-2 pounds a week while I enjoy my summer. Are there any foods that I should just avoid entirely? How do I know I'm eating just enough to lose as opposed to overeating?

How do I know I'm eating just enough to lose as opposed to overeating?
Easy. Underestimate how much you burn and overestimate how much you consume - I'd say by 20%.0 -
my husband did it without any website or tracking mechanism. He simply cut his meal to half every day. he said it was simple but not pleasant while he was cutting.0

I only know what didn't work for me. I stopped logging food for two months but made sure I was only eating healthy foods and tried to make sure my portions were right. I gained 20 pounds and became hyperurecemic (gout) from eating too much protein. So now I am trying to combine a diet to lose weight with a gout diet and that is hard for me to do.0

There's a number of considerations to make but not all of these are going to be applicable. Additionally, some of these recommendations may seem to fly in the face of flexible dieting but considering that you're not tracking anything you may need to implement some of these in exchange.
If I were to list a few things that could potentially help:
1) I would consider eating a reasonably large portion of protein and fiber in your first meal. This might effectively blunt hunger and reduce your total energy intake.
2) I would consider eating a fairly high quantity of green fibrous vegetables. I would eat a moderate amount of fruit. I would probably consider a protein source and green vegetables each meal for the purpose of blunting hunger and increasing fullness.
3) I would significantly limit heavily refined and energy dense foods.
4) I would pay close attention to hunger signals and how you respond to meal frequency. Some people do horribly on 6 feedings per day and do wonderfully on 2-3 per day, and vise versa. Something like 3 meals per day with no snacks would be a good benchmark for you to monitor satiety.
5) If you have problems with portion control I would consider examining the overall palatability of your meals and if necessary, consider slightly reducing how palatable the meal is. Now I realize I may catch some heat for this and understandably so in some contexts, but generally speaking the more palatable your meals the more potential you have to disregard fullness signals and over-eat. Tread carefully with this one because I'm not suggesting that you eat cardboard. As a thought experiment compare some crispy, hot, french fries that are nicely seasoned, to a plain boiled potato. You will very, very likely consume far more of the former than the latter.
These are just a few things you could implement.0 -

perhaps you may need a bit more time to train your brain and stomach in sync...only repsonding the right hunger signals...but it's always good to learn from our own mistakes....that old cliche "Just do whatever works for YOU".0 -
I lost weight before this website (in a healthy way, and kept it off). I simply tried to build my diet around whole foods: vegetables, fruits, lean meats, dairy, nuts and seeds, and whole grains. I ate til I felt like I'd eaten enough, and stopped. I kept an eye out for added sugars, and limited highly refined carbs in packaged convenience foods. The weight came off. Obviously, yes, I ate at a deficit. Having some guidelines for myself such as trying to eat more vegetables and fruits, and limiting added sugar, made that easier to accomplish.0

Hopefully you will have a scale handy. Weigh yourself once a week. If you go up in weight or stay the same, try to cut back a little or switch up to lower calorie foods or increase your activity level for the following week. If you lost a little, keep up how you are doing.
Dont do this daily! even weekly isnt entirely accurate but it will keep you from getting too far out of hand and keep you mindful of your intake and activity levels.0 -

Even with MFP, there is no way to know that you're eating "just enough to lose" except to judge by the results at the scale.0 -
I would do:
3 meals a day
nothing in between
only 1 plate at each meal
half the plate being veggies
avoid desserts
Then back on MFP at the end of the summer and see from there.0
