  • I used to get this ALL THE TIME when I was younger. One friend would say " I hate you, you're so skinny" every time we had to change clothes in the same room or wear swim suits, etc. etc. Meanwhile, she was stuffing Funyuns in her mouth or eating candy/cookies but honestly, they were probably right. I was just lucky that I…
  • I started running in February of this year. I just started at the track, I would run the long sides and walk the short ones. I kept run/walk/run/walking up for awhile and eventually I could run a whole mile! Now,I run 2-3 miles about 3-4 times a week (when I can). My ankles started bothering me @ first and I had to take a…
  • Unhealthy foods are anything that has little to no nutritional value. "empty calories" Junk food - chips, French Fries, baked goods in general, ice cream, etc etc These things are unhealthy because deep frying a potato pretty much negates any nutritional value it once had. The sugar content in ice cream negates any…
  • Thank you for your helpful response. I too find it difficult to recover from a "cheat day" and find myself binging for the next few days. I've started trying to eat mostly healthy but eating what I really want as long as I can fit it into my calories.
  • I don't disagree, except maybe about no foods being deemed "unhealthy". There are definitely some unhealthy foods out there, doesn't mean I don't eat them occasionally. I was just curious because everyone talks about having a "cheat day" or "cheat meal".
  • Start small. Sub the fries for apples and enjoy some chicken strips. Or order a salad (watch what kind of dressing you use!) and a Kid's size fry. I've been a chicken strip and fry person since I was like 4 years old!!! Now, I don't really crave them. I started by slowly substituting one unhealthy item for a healthy item…
  • What's wrong with people is we live in places that the nearest Panera, Jason's Deli, Flame Broiler, Chipotle, etc. etc. are @ least a 45 minute drive away!!! Small town folks have Subway, McDonald's, Burger King, Etc. Etc. Subway is the best option when given those choices :) I love Panera! I wish they would build one…
  • I eat lunch out during the work week. I eat Subway (of course).. but also Whataburger - Grilled chicken sandwich with wheat bun and apples OR CranApple Chicken Salad Sonic - Grilled Chicken Sandwich with apples and unsweet raspberry tea (yum) BBQ place - brisket (no sauce) and 2 sides of green beans (no bread) Arby's -…
  • I agree to slowly wean yourself off. If you have the goal to cut them out completely then go for it, just do it slowly. I used to drink coke like it was water. Caffeine headaches are the worst :( I now drink water between meals. I have almond milk with breakfast, unsweet tea with lunch (this is now my only caffeine…
  • I started MFP in February and it convinced my dad to start logging his calories too! He's lost 12lbs in 50 days :) Glad I can help him get healthier so he will be around longer for the rest of the family :)
  • Mine too! I eat a ton of fruit and I always go over my sugar intake. I figure as long as it is mostly from fruit or veggies it isn't so bad.
  • Kinda close Age:24 5'10" SW:144 CW:141 GW:130
  • As long as you are eating healthy and exercising it will happen, it just takes time :(
  • I'm 5'10"...my goal weight is 130. This is still in the healthy BMI range for my height.
  • Today I had a mini-celebration for NOT ordering a peach cobbler at lunch. Not a milestone but a baby step.
  • I know I'm not  I sure did feel like it while stuffing my face with ungodly amounts of sweets. I wasn't even hungry or craving them!!! This is mostly just a confession thread to get it all out in the open then forget all about it and start back on track.
  • Another vote for Nike +. I have an ongoing competition with my friends on there too. Really helps motivate you to put in some miles. I have had trouble with the GPS signal failing and not logging how far I really ran. If you wear Nike shoes - you can get the sensor to go in them and it helps keep your app calibrated. Nike…
  • Sorry! Maybe I should've added that I set myself back a couple pounds AND ate so much sugar I felt sick. My belly still hasn't de'flated from all the sugar. - I do not suggest following my horrible 4 day derailment from the healthy eating train. maybe a "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME" warning :)
  • you are more than welcome!
  • LOL! Glad my gluttony could bring you peace.
  • Loving everyone's confessions! I always log my food even if it is putting me 1000 calories over my goal. One quote that has stuck in my head is " Your body keeps an accurate journal whether you do or not". so true. :ohwell:
  • Muffin Pan - place crescent roll triangles over each tin. Put a few mini marshmellows, chocolate chips and crumbled graham crackers in each. Fold up so there's no little holes for the goodness to leak out of. Bake @ 350 for 10-15 minutes. I sprinkled a little sugar on top of each ball before baking. OH EM GEE these are…
  • That sounds amazing! I've made cobbler with sprite from pinterest but haven't seen the brownie one. I also ate a few graham crackers while baking my smores crescent rolls :ohwell:
  • This happens to me sometimes too. Other than drink water I'll chew a piece of gum. Gives me the sweet flavor I'm craving without all the calories.
  • I agree! Want to or not you need to eat more. Drink milk, cook with olive oil, eat peanut butter with your banana. I have no idea how you aren't starving to death. I used to do what you said, eat nothing for days then binge for days. But eating so little everyday is not maintainable.
  • Me too! I'm 5'10" and I never wear heels because I feel like a freakin giant everywhere I go. Plus you always get " you are SO TALL", like gee thanks, I hadn't noticed.
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I'll have to find some Quest bars to give them a try. I've used Clif and Zone - just trying to find something less processed and full of crazy ingredients! KIND bars are good but some varieties only have 4g of protein! That's hardly a protein bar in my opinion.
  • I use Nike+ run app on my phone to track my runs. If you have friends that run it creates a little competition to see who can run the most miles, fastest mile, etc. It also tracks your time/distance and tells you how many calories you burned based on your height/weight. Snacks - veggies! baby carrots, broccoli, cucumbers,…
  • I used to work for a podiatrist and we got heel spurs in all the time! If it hasn't bothered you in years, all you can really do is make sure you have good shoes and don't over do it. Ease your way into a new exercise routine, if it starts to bother you - fill a 2 liter bottle with water and freeze it. Roll your foot (with…
  • snack on veggies (baby carrots, cucumber, etc) they are low-cal I read somewhere that 1 mile = approximately 100 calories. You can run, walk, skip or jump it. The faster you complete the mile - the faster you burn 100 calories. Of course this will fluctuate depending on your body size but it's a good guessing point. Seems…
