Heel spur anyone? How do you not aggravate it?

Years ago I found out I have a heel spur on my right foot. I was working out doing a boot camp routine with massive amount of jumping jacks and after a week was in pain. The spur has not bothered me in years -- I have not exercised in years. I want to start Today and am worried about aggravating the heel spur. Any ideas?

I used to work for a podiatrist and we got heel spurs in all the time!
If it hasn't bothered you in years, all you can really do is make sure you have good shoes and don't over do it.
Ease your way into a new exercise routine, if it starts to bother you - fill a 2 liter bottle with water and freeze it. Roll your foot (with a sock on) over the bottle to ice it.
Try lower impact exercises (no jumping jacks!) like swimming, stationary bike, etc. (Those are what the DR recommended to his patients).

What luck to have someone from a podiatrist office respond! My boss was suggesting heel protectors like a hurdler wears... idk.. He may have been joking with me. Thanks jourdanerin!0

I have plantar fascitits and spurs in both feet. I have to alter alot of exercises..........No jumping jacks.....I really have to look at taking impact out of my workouts.......I use a frozen water bottle also on a regular basis.0

I'd call a podiatrist. Years ago I played lots of racquetball and developed a spur. My podiatrist gave me a couple shots of cortisone and I took a short break...maybe two weeks....then went on playing. I've never had a recurrance.
They probably have some new treatments though.
Good luck.0
