I don't think there is really any set number for protein intake from shakes. I'd say for the most part you're better off eating a real meal than having a shake but thats not always convenient and thats where a protein shake will do the job just fine.

^^^^ It's all about what you're eating if you want to get leaner. Squat as much as you want, if you're eating unhealthy or too much you won't get very lean.

1 lb per week is healthy weight loss and 91 lbs in 21 weeks is right about there. So I'd say you're doing great, not struggling. As for your friends, everybody's body is different. You can't expect to lose the same amount of weight as someone else even if your diet and exercise plans are exactly the same.

I go with 45% carbs, 35% protein, 20% healthy fats and that works pretty well for me. BTW, I recently started using MFP daily so I'm in need of buddies! Feel free to add me, motivation is key!
