Just wanted to give you a bit of hope. Having a one year old is stressful! They're into everything and so tempermental and need you for everything. Love my lil guy but definitely needed breaks. Anyway, I ended up gaining some weight during that time too (which is why I'm here). Now that my child is almost two the stress is…

You ladies are inspiring. My LO is 6.5 months old and I'm just now thinking about cleaning up my diet and exercisin again.

And someone's trying to pick a fight... *looks for popcorn*

i don't really do the packets anymore. Easier to just make ahead and portion. For mix-ins, my personal fav is PB2 with raisins for sweetness. Or 1 tbl of maple syrup and a sprinkle of walnut pieces.. or freeze dried strawberries, vanilla extract, and some milk... or fry a banana in a little butter and rum extract (banana…

I know this is of no help to the OP, but it might add some perspective to the lurkers. I had the complete opposite experience. I found it easier to control cravings on the pill, particularly around the TOM. Never gained a pound going on it or switching brands. Now that my husband and I are trying to get pregnant, I miss it…

Interesting and informative post, but I kindly disagree that type 2 is genetically based on anecdotes. Twin studies have suggested a hereditary component of the development of the disease; however, the risk is modifiable with lifestyle factors. I found this information on the American Diabetes Association's website: "Type…

It's not an accurate measure sleep. My experience: Between my dog needing to pee twice a night and our cats scratching at doors, I'm up or awake multiple times per night. My husband NEVER hears any of it... but he because he tosses more than I do, he'll have a lower percentage than me and complain that he's not getting…

Goodness, I hope so! I have the same stats as you and I'm running my first marathon in early Oct! Happy running!

This. I'm glad you're not symptomatic when it happens, but I think you should still get it checked out.

If you saw my diary, you'd see a couple of squares of Theo 85% chocolate almost every day. It's low sugar, has a little bit of protein, and all those nutrients... or so I tell myself.

Sounds like you have a solid plan. Candies get me too, darnit. ;) Congrats on the start of your journey!

To be honest, if you hate yourself and are depressed from a difficult family situation, no amount of weight loss will make you happy. I'd focus on your emotional well-being first. Sure, make some healthier choices, but do so to help your mood, not for weight loss. Good luck, OP!

Wow, sorry. Those teenagers deserve a swift kick in the rear. Keep in mind that it's probably not just about your size, though... they will heckle just about anyone. My husband is a runner, very in shape, and yet he would also get hollered at by teenagers ("Run Forest, run!" "Run, shorty shorts!"). I admit commenting about…

I'm in week 3 of my training program. This will be my first marathon. :) Good luck!

I'm 5'5. When I have it set to lose 0.5 lbs/week, I get 1380 from MFP. This would not be sustainable for me for any significant amount of time. Fortunately, I am a pretty active person and regularly "earn" 200-300 extra calories/day. (Thank you, Fitbit!)

^^This. Good luck on your journey, OP!

Good job! Love the picture with the dog-- too cute!

Sensible amounts of dark chocolate, tea, music, & midol. Sorry, that's all I got. Welcome back. lol

Reading... reading... woaaah ok... reading This thread took a weird turn real fast.

Whatever the nutritional benefits of it may be, I can't help but think of it as the most joyless, soulless food out there. It just makes me sad.
-
And now I feel obligated to post something... Good job on your NSV. Maybe need some introspection on the other issue, though...
-
Wooot! Great job!

Nope. You have an enviable figure. I'd trade you in a heartbeat.

Perhaps the running is adding thigh muscles? I was in half marathon shape last fall. In the winter (my break from running), I was expecting my pants to get tighter after having gained a few pounds. To my surprise, they were looser... :-| My only explanation is that I lost muscle in my legs from not running.

whoo hoo!! Great job!

Slow cooker bok choy and beef... made with aminos, ginger, onions & garlic , red pepper... om nom nom nom

115ish... Always have been on the smaller side, although you wouldn't guess it cuz of my round face.

Can you visit a registered dietitian on campus or through your regular doctor? You have heavy caloric needs complicated with chronic medical issues. I don't think it would be a good idea to follow advice from nonprofessionals. Best of luck.

This. I'd argue that most of it's mental, but that still doesn't mean it's "easy." It takes considerable effort to change one's mindsets and habits. Doable-- and many people will falter-- but still hard.
