  • Thanks everyone!! :D 20 pounds is a great first goal! I originally was only planning on losing 10 pounds and had NO idea I could lose 30 pounds :) It took me about 7 months.
  • I'm always looking for new friends :) I recently lost 30 pounds and am very passionate about fitness/health and love motivating others!
  • Motivation is such a tricky thing. It's what gets you going, but like what everyone else has said eventually it will all become a habit and you won't really need the motivation anymore. I like to surround myself with people who have similar goals, which is why this MFP community is awesome. It's also really good to dig…
  • I'm normally not hungry for a few hours after my workouts, but kind of force myself to eat something even if it's just a handful of almonds and some carrots :) I agree with what's been said about the endorphins reducing your appetite and stress for sure too! Good luck! :D
  • I use the polar FT4 and do online workout videos. I LOVE it because before I used to estimate my average calorie burn and now I have a much better idea of how much I'm really burning and how hard I'm working. It's really easy to see if I need to push myself harder too :)
  • Myfitnesspal has definitely helped me to stay on track and find the balance I needed :) I used to struggle a lot because I was very strict and gave myself a lot of restrictions. With MFP I've learned to moderate and that makes eating better SO much more doable for me. Moderation NOT elimination is the key to health in my…
  • For lunch I like to eat grilled chicken, an English muffin with peanut butter, or a whole grain tortilla with some refried beans, guacamole, cheese, chicken, and some seasoning :)
  • I'm a VERY picky eater as well. I have a huge problem with textures and I'm constantly trying food over and over again hoping that one day I will like it. The other day I was actually able to eat a bite of a banana without gagging... progress right? :) Us picky eaters don't have a lot of options when it comes to food so…
  • WOW! That's amazing! Congratulations!!!! :D It's amazing how losing weight impacts ALL aspects of our life. It's not just about looking better. It's about FEELING better. Such an amazing and inspiring accomplishment!!
  • I would LOVE to be friends! It's so important to surround yourself with people who have similar goals and can help motivate and inspire you. I'm always looking for new friends too :)
  • I am a huge peanut butter fan, so I like to pack some whole grain English muffins and those little peanut butter packs they have at the store--way easier than carrying around a jar of peanut butter! :) I also bring the obvious... carrots, almonds, apples. I hope you are traveling somewhere fun :)
  • I do everything I did while losing weight, just with a little bit more wiggle room :) I obviously eat more and limited my workouts to 5 days a week instead of 6. I do a lot more strength/toning exercises since I'm not as concerned with burning calories/fat. I still track my food, but on the weekends I am very flexible and…
  • I agree with the TDEE calculators. How much you should be eating to maintain is totally dependent on your size and activity level. I'm 5'3 and 122 pounds and very active. My TDEE is around 1800-1900 calories per day to maintain my weight, but your TDEE could be much higher than mine which explains why you still lose weight…
  • Thanks for the positive post! I've only been maintaining for a few months and I pretty much know where I'm at for calories before I even log my food, but I still can't seem to bite the bullet and stop logging altogether. Maybe one day :)
  • I've actually been wondering the same thing! My ring keeps swinging around my finger and I'm worried one day it's just going to go flying. Part of me thinks that my fingers are smaller from losing weight, but I also think it has a lot to do with cold weather.. I'm thinking I'll wait until the summer to see how my hands do…
  • I do all of my workouts inside at home! I recently lost 30 pounds with my computer and a pair of dumbbells! All of the workouts I do are free and on youtube! I have asthma as well and have the exact same problem with cold air.
  • Congrats!!! :D It's definitely never too late to start again. I've always told myself that I just need to be better today than I was yesterday. There's no point beating myself up for falling off the wagon or having a bad week/month/year. Way to keep it up!!
  • Of course it counts! Great job!!!
  • Well I have some more snack ideas for you: Almonds (nuts are very high in protein so they make a great snack!) Grapes Sliced cheddar cheese with a few crackers (this is a FAVORITE) Greek yogurt mixed with some fruit Whole grain English muffin toasted with peanut butter Carrots with humus Apple Sliced deli meat Good luck! :D
  • So as I gradually gained weight, I was kind of in denial and didn't really buy new, bigger clothes. I had to buy new jeans because there was no denying that my old ones didn't fit... but I wore the same shirts (they were just a little snug!) So once I lost weight, all my shirts got more loose and the only thing I had to…
  • Thanks so much everyone!! :D You all just made my day! It's definitely scary posting pictures, especially because when I took my "before" I didn't really know it was going to be my before picture (or else I would've put more clothes on! ha!) I wasn't planning on anyone ever seeing that picture but ME! :) As for my exercise…
  • That's what I love about MFP! It teaches you moderation instead of just completely eliminating your favorite foods :) Thanks so much!!
  • If you like Jillian Michaels, she has TONS of other workout videos that I cycle through. Ripped in 30 Killer Buns and Thighs 6 Week 6 Pack No More Trouble Zones Banish Fat Boost Metabolism Shred it with Weights Yoga Meltdown My favorites are No More Trouble Zones (more strength training) and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism…
