  • Well done on losing 24 lbs. Great achievement. Weight plateaus are common. Refresh your plan. Re-evaluate the 1400 cals. Is this still right for you? Low calorie counts for longer periods of time are challenging to follow. Could you increase your activity and eat a little more? How much exercise do you do?
  • I’m in a similar position. Some questions. You lost weight before so you probably have the answers that will help get you back in shape. What did you do to successfully lose weight last time? Why did your method work? Who was your greatest support last time?
  • "If I could trust my body to give me correct signals, I wouldn't have become obese".... I really resonate with this statement. I have noticed for me that higher intensity / long endurance activities can reduce my appetite immediately afterwards but that my appetite returns with vengeance the next day. The following day,…
  • Feeling different? 28 lb less to carry - more energy? Better mood? So much to celebrate.
  • -your boyfriend says in that worried tone "how much more weight are you going to lose?" Is he: (1) concerned you're too skinny? (2) afraid your breasts / bottom will completely disappear? (3) afraid you'll put his diet and exercise routine under the microscope? (4) worried you're so fit now you might run off into the…
  • 27th May 2018 - 6th March 2019 - 12.5" from waist, 56 lb. 5ft 6" tall. current weight 154lb
  • This is true. I have Dexa scan proof. Between mid October 2018 and mid February 2019 I used a small calorie deficit (500 cals per day), increased my weight training programme, maintained my aerobic based training and lost 9.9kg of fat and gained 1.6kg of muscle.
  • You're look fabulous, that smile is huge. Well done on your achievements. Don't be discouraged ... is it time to run another 5k. I bet you'll go faster than last time. A healthy BMI is a good goal but it maybe time to focus on some non-scale goals too? This is what a 3lb weight loss looks like on me Jan 25th 2019 to 6th…
  • It's photo update day - I take update photos every 6 weeks and play spot the changes as it helps keep me motivated. On the left 25th January 71.8 kg. On the right 6th March, 70.0 kg. A loss of 3lb. Waist looks a tad smaller, back looks a bit stronger.
  • You look phenomenal! Even your skull looks smaller - how does that even happen? [/quote] Crazy isn’t it! I think I lost inches from my neck. My face definitely got smaller too. I know my smiles got bigger.
  • So, I’m 54. I started my journey on 27 May 2018. I eat around 1800 calories a day aiming to eat at least 100g protein and no more than 125g carbs per day. I don’t worry too much about fat. I am consistent in my eating and have found 3 meals, 2 hot milk drinks and 1 150 calorie snack per day is sustainable. Initially I…
  • I’m 5’ 6”. I was 212 lb in May 2018 and I am 155 lb today.
  • I have also been told to pick up my calories but to cut back on days when I don’t train. I train 6 days per week, generally burning 3-500 calories per day through purposeful exercise. I say purposeful because I’m much more active in my everyday life than I was 9 months ago when I was at my heaviest, least fit condition.…
  • Maintenance is harder than weight loss
  • Hello @slimming1960 "However, I had a really difficult personal life situation that set me back in March 2018. I have gained back that 25 lbs and I am starting to inch towards gaining back some of the 78lbs. I have started back with MFP logging everything. I cannot afford another round of personal training and I know that…
  • Perhaps I should say I was 96.5 kg (May 2018) and I’m now 70.6 kg. However, I’ve really changed my attitude towards scale weight. It’s just too misleading. Waist measurements, fat % measurements, blood pressure, or dress sizes are more helpful in my opinion.
  • 165 cm - 5 foot 5”
  • A Dexa scan will give you an accurate visceral fat reading, however a scan isn’t always affordable or practical. Visceral fat is the fat we hold around our organs. We need some to provide protection but too much can mean the organ struggles to work effectively and increases liver diseases and diabetes. A good way to…
  • Hello there. I’m 55 in August this year. Here’s an up date on my progress. I’ve lost 56.5lb over the last nine months and shifted my body fat from 44% to 28%. I have gone from a UK size 20 (US 18) to a UK dress size 12 (US 10). My waist has shrunk 16” ... from 46” to 30”. My physical routine involves 2 x gym sessions with…

  • I’m 54. I’ve lost 44lb since 27th May this year. My food plan is 1500 to 1700 cals a day with a minimum of 100g protein and no more than 125g carbs. I plan all my meals but I rarely food prep, preferring to make time in the kitchen something to enjoy. I do 2 weight sessions and 3 aerobic training sessions each week

  • Wow, that’s a great achievement. What sort of exercise are you thinking of doing? Adding a little exercise should help keep you burning those pounds. I gained weight in much the same way as you... drip by drip. I started my journey on 27th May 2018, I’ve lost 45lb so far with another 22lb to go. Feel free to add me as a…

  • Eire - my heart is with you. Losing your Mum is tough. I think it is wonderful that you have turned back to MFP to reconnect with people who you know have been helpful in your amazing transformation journey. Right now weight-loss will be difficult I imagine because as you know it requires time and space and your head to be…
  • I'm 54 ... my motivation to reduce my fat mass is so I know when I'm 99 I'll still be able to care for myself. I don't want to be held back by diabetes or find my blood pressure is too high to run with my (soon to arrive) grandchild or find I need the support of another to move my bulk to and from the toilet seat. These…

I lost weight prior to my surgery maintained for two years and then regained the weight (and more) during a stressful couple of years. I’ve been on a mission to reclaim my body since June this year. Like many of us post-meno ladies,…
