Posting here for the first time - such inspiring stories!
I'm 67, lost about 50 lbs. over the last couple of years, and I've kept it off for 7 months now. I still weigh and log my food most of the time because of portion creep, but it's such a habit I don't really think about it much. I'm so much healthier than I was a few years ago - just losing the weight has had such an impact on my cholesterol numbers, heartburn, blood pressure and resting heart rate. I was convinced that declining health was inevitable as I age, and maybe it is, but I don't anticipate that happening any time soon now
Side note - I had it in my mind that I'd consider myself old when I reached 100, but I just met a 102 year old woman at my nail salon last week, getting her nails done for her birthday, so now I'm re-thinking that20 -

I’m a perfect 10! Hubby took me shopping yesterday as he was tired of looks at my baggy *kitten* pants. Made the rounds of the discount stores. I was a tight 14 but the pants I got were all 10’s and they are perfect.23

Here’s my 6 month progress. 40lbs down, 7.5% body fat down, gained an optimal blood pressure and recovered a prolapsed L3/L4 disc.
1,500 to 1,700 cals per day, 10k steps, 3 bike rides and two gym sessions.

Making_tracks you look wonderful! Congratulations on your hard work and success! I’m just starting back to MFP and exercise. I’ve been negligent for way too long, and boy am I out of shape! I only have about 15 pounds to lose, but I struggle with the discipline. Your story is very inspirational!1

Thanks that’s a nice compliment. I feel heaps better physically and psychologically. 15lbs is not so bad, it’s lose a pound and then repeat that 14 more times. Look forward to hearing about your progress7

ok I found a thread I like (not sure how to mark it so I don't lose you all) but I was on here last spring, was doing great - lost about 20 lbs and of course put on 11, so here I am again - not in a race, but looking also for others who "get me". I do think our age plays a roll. I'm 59 and had surgery on both feet, in P.T. and learning to walk again - so I'm just cutting calories again (it worked well last spring) - My goal is to be 155 lbs (I'm 179) so I have a bit of a journey ahead of me - I LOVE reading your posts it does encourage me to stay on track - Blessings! If you can tell me how to find the posts I'll do it - please add me as a friend if you can share personally that would even be better (I'm NOT good with computers, but trying)0

I’m finally feeling myself after surgery 4 weeks ago. My cyst had a surprise tumor on it! Both non cancerous.
I have changed up the foods I eat. I have eaten low fat for couple reasons. Added nuts back into my life instead of so sparingly. Makes me happy.4 -
making tracks you really are MAKING TRACKS!!! congrats. Keep up the good work. I bet getting rid of that 40 pounds you were carrying around has made such a huge life difference for you.
On a different note for everyone, a friend asked me the other day "does 60 ever just reach up and slap you in the face!?". Along the lines of who is that old wrinkly woman in the mirror which most of us occasionally wonder why our grandmas are now reflecting at us. I told her "that's what SNAPCHAT is for!!!" Honestly I would rather be in good shape with extra wrinkles than plumped out and carrying around too much weight.

I have been doing some cleaning and came across a Maxine booklet and can’t resist sending you all this page. I am thinking everyone here can appreciate it! You just keep on rocking along! When I was still working at the Post Office, my wall calendar was always a Maxine calendar. Many people would come in to check out the new monthly page..she’s one of my favorites. We may have to age, after all, we were born doing it, but we do not have to lose our sense of humor about it! Enjoy!

Love Maxine! I’ve lost 31 lbs (22 with MFP) and just this morning I noticed some new wrinkles and that my neck is looking more turkeyish. Oh well, fat might be natures Botox, but I’ll take a slimmer me with wrinkles over flabby me with smoothish skin!4 -

Gym test today - set new PBS in all areas. 3:15 plank, 40 sit ups in 2 mins, 2:30 wall squat, 11 cm extension of fingers beyond toes for my sit reach. 6:30 for 1k run. BP down, recovery heart rate down, 9% drop body fat, 20kg weight dropped. 9cm off chest, 20 cm of waist, 12 cm off hips.
I had to buy new lingerie today to help hold my less wobbly bits in place.7 -

Maintaining but fighting to stay within my range for some reason. Eating the same but weight is still bobbing up and down over the top of range. Cutting back and weighing everything to be safe.3

I’m still here, too. Holidays are hard for me missing all those who are no longer here, plus temptation abounds (food wise). How do you cope with all of it???!!! Any suggestions?0

I'm an orphaned, widowed, childless, only child.
I pretty much skate superficially over the surface of the holiday, being glad my friends are happy, kind of as if the secular holiday were a major celebration from some religion I don't practice.
When social norms require, I participate in a suitable way, kind of similarly, such as buying/making gifts for certain people close to me.
(I was raised Christian, now agnostic. If a Jewish friend invited me for Passover Seder or a Muslim friend invited me to an Eid celebration, I'd figure out what gifts or behaviors were customary, go, and behave accordingly. Same deal for Christmas, same degree of emotional engagement - happy for others, glad to be included . . . except with Christmas, I already know the drill.)
I'm kind of an analytic, not very emotion-driven person, so maybe this wouldn't work for others.
As far as the food, it's just a more frequent temptation, not a different one from other special events. Don't spend calories on things that aren't worth it, indulge in some really good treats, get nutrition covered, balance it out somehow with other eating/exercise. (I'm in maintenance; while losing, another option was to accept a temporary delay or slowdown in loss rate.)
It's possible to turn the food-fest into a giant emotional obstacle, especially with all the other emotional baggage of the holiday in play. But I think it's possible to choose not to do that - though fully accomplishing that choice may require several rounds of practice.
Every though I'm personally fine, now, one thing that still bugs me is friends who (unintentionally) deliver a swift kick to somone else's gut by literally saying (or posting on social media) "family is what life is all about" or "family is what makes life worthwhile".
I hear and celebrate their joy . . . but could ya find another way to say it, folks? The recently bereaved may not need a push in the direction that that particular phrasing sends them!18 -
