It looks like there are many people interested in trying the Keto thing. Could some of you that are already on it give us some pointers on things you ate when you first got started to help replace things like fruit and bad carbs?

I have been researching the Ketos diet and thinking about giving it a try, but don't know where to begin as far as what to eat. I normally eat a lot of fruit during the day and I understand I should stop that. So now I am trying to figure out what to replace it with. My normal routine is to start with a fruit smoothie…

Thank you for the support and ideas. I was used to exercising every day for 30 to 60 minutes so I felt 5 to 15 minutes a day wasn't much; but I will try to squeeze in a few minutes a few times a week. Seems like if I get any time it is late at night before I go to bed. I don't hardly ever watch TV and if I am on the…

Thanks again - this could be the answer why I have been feeling so hungry.
-
Thanks again - in calculating my body fat a few different ways, it seems to fall between 19.1% and 23.4%. I will experiment with my calories a little and see how it goes.

The 1550 is my TDEE-10% that I had calculated. Also, I am a secretary, so spend most of my days sitting, but am on my feet most hours I am home on the week nights and week ends - doing housework, yard work, etc. I have been feeling so totally hungry lately that I kind of lost it tonight after a long stressful day and over…

I am 55 yrs of age weigh 126 (I started at 130 with only 10 lbs to lose) My height is 5' 4" I am eating around 1550 calories (3 meals and 3 light snacks per day) I use my elliptical for 30 minutes per day and burn around 300 calories I have lost 4 pounds, but seem to be at a stand still now and seem to feel hungry often.…

Great job!! Yes, what do you eat to stay filling full at only 1200 calories.
-
Forgot to mention I had my calories calculated at TDEE - 15%; which puts me around 1520. Will adjust to 1430 (TDEE-20%) and see if I can get better results. Thanks.

Thank you for your ideas. I am looking for ways to stay feeling full longer; because lately I have been feeling hungry all the time. I only have 10 pounds to lose so I am eating my 1,500 calories; but not staying full.

Age = 55 Weight = 126 Height = 5'4" Burn about 300 calories per day exercising I started at 130 lbs with 10 lbs to lose. Currently, I am eating 1,550 calories per day - not eating back exercise calories. Are my calories set correctly? Thank you.
-
Thank you for this explanation. According to this I believe my daily calorie intake should be 1600. The only exercise I get over my daily routine is 30 minutes on my elliptical and it shows I burn between 300 and 350 calories. My goal is to lose 10 pounds. Age - 55 Activity level - moderate Lbs - 129 Height - 64" I come up…

With only 10 lbs to lose - if I eat 1700 calories per day and burn 300 per day exercising do you think I will lose or should my calories be less?
-
Thank you for all the advice. I just started MFP about two weeks ago and have been going back and forth trying to figure out if I should be following calories or TDEE and what my calorie goal should actually be. Thanks again.
-
Well, that makes more sense (or I will end up very hungry) and I also will up my workout to 45 minutes as suggested.
-
I had 1721 - then 20% less is 1376 - so I was assuming those were the calories I was to be eating per day
-
I am a secretary Switch between my elliptical and treadmill - 30 minutes per day
-
weight - 129 Height 5'4' age 55 activity level light
-
I figured activity level at light.

I understand that say don't eat exercise calories back, but it just seems to me that in the end with TDEE you actually are netting less calories because you are excersing some of the calories eating away. Sorry I am confused.
-
So I changed my Net Calories to 1500 - but it shows my Normal Daily Calories burn at 1460 - so it says I will actually gain weight with 1500 Net Calories. Do I not worry about what it says? Or is there someplace I change my Normal Daily Calories burned?
-
Thank you - I figured my TDEE at a 15% reduction and it comes to 1551 calories. This would be my new Net Calorie goal - correct? So I could eat around 1700 or a little more and net back to 1500 with exercise.

Thank you for your input. It takes time to learn to eat better and accept that you will only lose a little at a time even though that is the healthy way to do it. Agreed, I should maybe eat a little more but I am afraid I won't lose anything then. I will work on that. I do try to make sure I exercise 5 or 6 days a week to…

Just started using the elliptical two weeks ago. I am doing 4 miles, 380 calories in 30 minutes. Lately, the last 5 minutes I have started to get a little light headed, very hot and a pain on the right side of my head. Maybe I am pushing too hard before my body has gotten used to it since I just started two weeks ago.

Have a 125 lb. Newfoundland (Della) and a 100 lb. Bernese Mountain Dog (Morghan). Our big babies.

I eat some of my exercise calories back, but my net calories has been about 300 less then my goal of 1200; so I probably should eat a few more of them back with some healthy foods.
