  • I am doing 1500, BUT I'm also a small guy. I'm under 5'5" and was about 130 lbs when I started this. As of recently, I'm not that active either since my medication makes me feel constantly tired. :/
  • I drink way too much of it. I've still lost and gained weight over the past few years depending on my intake otherwise. Some people say it makes them crave sweets or feel ill, but I've never had any of that effect from drinking it. I would like to cut down though, if only because of the cost more than anything.
  • I'm quite a bit younger than you and not as much to lose, but roughly the same height and I log every day and add pretty much anyone who's trying to get healthy and a nice enough person. :)
  • I suddenly became like that about a year ago and gained around 20 lbs which I'm now losing. Once I finally got around to seeking help for depression, it's definitely become easier to control myself. Dunno if that's relevant to you or not thoguh.
  • The idea is just to not eat processed foods. Sure it's a healthy way of eating, but it is not THE ONLY way to have success losing weight. And even if you overeat on these foods, you'll gain.
  • Heya! :) I have no military background and no interest in being in the military, but I think I qualify for the other points! :D I do enjoy going to the gym and I mostly use free weights and occasionally go jogging. My general calorie range is around 1500 and I'm getting back into a healthy mindset, since I'd often overeat…
  • People are complete idiots sometimes. I'm vegan but I don't push it on people because 1) it's obnoxious and 2) it's my choice not theirs.
  • I love them. Probably eat them at least once a week.
  • What made me fat recently was depression, because I'd overeat as a way to try and feel better. I'm more aware of it now, and the meds I'm taking seem to be helping me eat more sensibly.
  • I get it. I'm the same weight and height, roughly, and it's the biggest I've been in years and I don't like it. I too have lost and regained the same few lbs through the cycle of overeating then not eating much, then overeating again. I'm on aroud 1500 too now, hopefully will be easier to maintain, and I'm doing strength…
  • Feel free to add me. I've actually found starting medication helpful, since I don't binge eat as a coping mechanism as much. So far, that's the only benefit of being on meds that I've noticed so I can't even tell if they're working for their intended purpose. :/
  • The tea I have right now is just green tea with a tiny bit of lemon juice It's not sweetened. And I've never bought bottled water because there's no point when tap water is just fine. I'm just trying to be healthier in general and less chemical sweeteners. Caffeine too, since I do find it keeps me awake at night if I drink…
  • The whole point of them is to be very low or zero calorie. I've been drinking them for years (trying to cut back a lot) and in that time have both lost and gained weight, depending on my diet otherwise.
  • Because it's still not the best thing to drink, and is expensive to buy a lot of it.
  • I honestly tried something like this for about half a week before it got too annoying (I'm vegan which makes it 10x more difficult I think). It's a good idea though if you're into strength training and want to conserve muscle mass as a main priority. I wouldn't say restricting carbs to that level is a great idea,…
  • Awesome! I've been vegan for 4 years but have recently been slacking with it (just in these past few months) and really want to stick to it more strictly again. Feel free to add me. I am trying to learn some healthy recipes too. Recently taught myself to make scrambled tofu for breakfast which is really nice and low…
  • Yeah. I guess it's because so many of the things we're used to are processed. I'm the same - my mum didn't cook, besides heating up frozen meals pretty much. I'm slowly learning how to cook some things on my own, and once you've learnt more things, you'll start to enjoy it because it's actually better food and more…
  • Just would like to add that my idea of 'too big' isn't most peoples' idea of big... Difficult to explain my point if people are assuming everyone views the same body type as ideal.
  • Huh.. just found another viewpoint that says a higher protein diet does more harm than good and can cause kidney damage and suggests eating less than 30% of your diet as protein, or 1g per 3lbs of weight.
  • I'm not even completely sure that I WANT to gain more muscle afterwards. I know I don't want to get big. I look fairly small but I'm small all over. I'm shorter than most women and am actually right in the middle of the 'normal' weight range but have an obviously high body fat percentage and don't want to potentialyl…
  • I've noticed that in girls I've found really attractive, I usually notice their smile more than most other things. And if I know them as a person rather than just seeing a girl and thinking she's pretty, then personality counts for a ton.
  • Thanks. 1g per lb of LEAN mass doesn't sound quite as difficult to get close to. I just changed my settings to 30% protein on the food diary part of this site too, and that amount based on the calorie intake I have now is roughly the same as what my lean mass probably is (I don't know my exact fat percentage, just…
  • What I'm trying to do currently... but what's 'ample' protein? I have read so much conflicting advice on protein amounts needed. Is it a percentage of total intake? (eg. 30% of total calories) Does it need to relate to my current weight? Does it just need to be a certain value? (eg. 50g)
  • Brilliant! :) I'm 21 in September and will be going back to university to re-attempt my second year. I was actually underweight when I first started, and have since gained around 20lbs but most of it is fat, which I'm far from happy about. So I'm working on losing a bit of it, then adding muscle instead. I'm definitely…
  • It's the worst, right? I'll add you. :)
  • Thanks. As I said, I know I'm uninformed so am glad for the clarifications. I genuinely don't care much for getting big arms or large muscles - I just don't want to be a weakling. I'm not overweight. I'm in the middle of the 'healthy bmi' range, just have a higher fat percentage and probably not much muscle to start with.
  • Thanks everyone. I definitely will check out some of the programs you mentioned.
  • anyone can feel free to add me, since I've got a lack of people/friends on here. I'm 20.
  • No, but depending on the size of the bag it could be pretty high-calorie. I feel your pain though. Dried fruit and nuts is/was a major binge food for me. I only buy tiny 'snack size' packages of it now.
  • Eating until it feels uncomfortable. Significantly more than you'd normally eat in a meal. Feelings of being out-of-control of yourself.
