  • Make small changes - not one big drastic change overnight. Make sure you eat nutrient dense food that fills you up, plenty of proteins and veggies but eat more than 900 calories! I would calculate TDEE-25% or TDEE-30% since you have so much to lose, but then follow it. If you are hungry, eat. Nobody can live in a starved…
  • You are right in that my goals have changed since my first experience of having a trainer. I've lost over a 100 lbs since then. At that point, it was more urgent to just lose weight, cardio and light lifting. Now I am more fitness oriented, have confidence in myself but just need a bit of knowledge and spotting. The cardio…
  • This was my method of hiring a trainer the other time I had one, and it didn't work well for me. Had trouble walking for three months and it totally threw me off my fitness plan. So I'm a little gun-shy of just trying the same method, although my back is much improved from that time. You are right in that the only way I…
  • I've done both. For me, my experience was the opposite. WW became all about an arbitrary number of points (another term for calories, without knowing the exact amount of calories) and MFP not only gives me the exact amount of calories in, but it has me track my macros of carbs, fat and protein. If I want to hit my goals, I…
  • Hey, why the heck not. Count me in!!
  • I did the same thing but took it very slowly. I added 50 cals every two weeks. For a bit, I also increased my activity but not as much as i was adding calories. Slow, I know, but I didn't have any weight gain from it, which was really important to me. I'm up from 1200 to 1950.
  • Great post... good read. thanks!
  • Oh, I am SO interested. Lost 113 lbs, have 55 to go, and have been stuck in a maintenance mode for the last year or two, but what I did before is no longer working nearly as well. I have been trying to decide if I want to find a trainer again, join Crossfit, and/or keep on strength training (just started strength training…
  • I've recently upped from 1200 cal diet and am working my way up to your range. I am loosely a pescatarian now for the last couple of months (ate meat before that) and shoot for 130 g of protein and almost always run a bit short. Eat a lot of seafood and eggs, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt... but this is a goal that I am…
  • 42DD to a deflated and saggy 36C :-p And still not at goal, but I would prefer not to lose any more weight in cup size and perkiness! lol
  • I've logged daily for the last 105 days and plan to for many more! Occasionally I fail to track the last part of a day but for the most part, I log everything and comment on other updates. Feel free to add me if you like.
  • Be proud of who you are, what you've become and the journey you've taken. The old you was a different you, but you've learned life lessons from it, so it was important. I totally understand the process. I am exactly at 113 lbs lost, so your story spoke to me. :) I have a bit more to go, but I will get there. Good luck to…
  • RHR = 55 I'm 42, female, and my RHR has been dropping over the last few years as I have become healthier, losing weight and working out. Sweet.
  • bump. nice information!
  • Hope your dog is okay! I understand not wanting to do surgery, but I hope he is not obstructed. Poor thing. let us know what happens! I did have to chuckle about sitting the dog by the computer, hoping to sync him up.
  • I have tried a few different brands, and like to buy the unflavored, as I throw in kale, berries, bananas and other fruit, Greek yogurt, cocoa powder, peanut butter, coconut, coconut milk, etc. Not all at one time... :) Most of the ones I've tried have had a "chalky taste" that I can't stand. I have ended up using Jarrows…
  • I hate Jillian and I Jillian. I hate her while I'm working out, because she gives you a good intense workout, but I love her after I'm done and when I'm doing my measurements, see that I'm losing inches and fitting into smaller clothes. :) She's effective. Keep on trying. Each time you get a bit stronger. Alright, I'm off…
  • Bump. Currently doing Jillian Michaels Body Revolution and love the results but want more ideas for when this is finished.
  • You can do a 1200 calorie diet successfully. I am much taller and eat 1400-1500 most days. However, I eat a very plants-based diet, along with some fish/seafood/eggs, but I eat very little to no sugar or flour, or processed crap that comes in a box or a bag. That gives you a larger volume of food for less calories than the…
  • I am always over on sugars as well. I get my sugars from fruit and other healthy foods and very little from processed foods, so I don't pay it much attention. If it is from processed foods, I think you might want to keep an eye on it but if it's from fruits and dairy, I'm not that overly concerned (especially if you are…
  • I will need to try the coconut milk yogurts. I've switched over to coconut milk for smoothies and love it but I'm just so attached to what I am used to for Greek yogurts and cottage cheese. I shouldn't have such a hard time giving it up - it's just food. :-p I haven't tried the vegan ice cream yet... I'll put that on my…
  • I recently just heard of nutritional yeast on some vegan podcasts I was listening to. Thanks! I think I will try it. :)
  • I'm still in the transition stage. Very new to me. Would love the support if anyone wants to add me. I'm currently more pescatarian. Still have eggs and fish in my diet. Am currently working on transitioning out the dairy. This is HUGE for me. I am an absolute lover of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. Any good vegan…
  • I weigh myself every day, first thing in the morning after bathroom use and before water and coffee. It helps me stress out LESS by weighing every day because I can see the fluctuations of hormones and water weight more easily than once per week. I track it in a handy dandy spreadsheet along with my calories eaten, burned,…
  • I went from a lowfat diet to primal/lowcarb high fat and blew my IBS wayyy outa control. I've gone back to a lowfat diet, while still trying to keep some principles of the primal lifestyle, but not all of them. It was far too animal products/meats/fats based for me. I now do more plants-based (very clean, not a processed…
  • I don't have cheat days. That's giving myself full license to binge for a full day and I can undo everything I did during the week by having a whole binge day. I did in the past and it'd take me a week to lose what I gained on my cheat day. So now I try to stick to my calorie goal every day (barring a very special…
  • I think this problem happens for a lot of us. I dropped weight in the first week and a half and then bounced up and down in the same few pounds. I am ready to start week 7 tomorrow, and the scales is only starting to tip downwards again. My husband is doing it with me and he has barely noticed any weight loss. However, he…
  • I find the balancing-on-one-leg activities of hers almost impossible. I am getting better at it, but I still totally suck at it. You're not alone. Lol.
  • Last night I made a sweet potato protein smoothie and it was pure awesome! I was making for two, so I used one medium-sized sweet potato (previously baked in microwave and chilled), 1.5-2 cups coconut milk, ground cinnamon and my unflavored protein powder. Throw it in the blender and drink. We don't have many sweets so…
  • My husband and I are having some of the same issues. I am just doing what I can and moving on because I plan to redo this again eventually (probably something different in between) and I figured it will give me something to work towards. :-p My husband's wrists are hurting. I don't mind it in my wrists but I can only lift…
