  • I did it in 2000 and had some pretty good weight loss. Unfortunately I fell off it. I like the food plan and weight training plan, the cardio not so much.
  • I'm trying to keep it to weekly. Sunday morning, no clothes. I take measurements also... belly, chest, biceps, neck, thigh. I log all that in an Excel spreadsheet.
  • I find logging and tracking, and counting calories a colossal pain in the butt. I start out pretty well for a week, then I can't take it anymore. I think it's easier to use the old Body For Life method of measuring by palm and fist. A protein about the size of my palm (actually my open hand) and a carb about the size of my…
  • I'm an emotional under-eater too. Combine that with percocet I take for pain from a lumbar fusion, and my appetite goes down the toilet. However, I've gained weight from what I do eat... carbs, carbs, carbs. Pizza, pasta, rice, bread, cookies, cake and other sweets. Very comforting. I'm doing my best to clean up my diet…
  • Starting any program is daunting because we want the results now, and it seems so far away with so much work to get there. We can't look a year down the road, just look at today. When I'm really good about it and take my own advice I say "just for today I'll go to the gym", "just for today I won't eat those cookies", just…
  • I also prefer using a commercial gym. I do feel inspired by others at the gym. I have a set of kettlebells and an Iron Gym door bar at home, but I don't use them that often. I get distracted at home. My gym membership is $27/mo, and there is a small gym at work if I choose to use it.
  • Thanks. This is about 3 months grown from a very short goatee. I had the full beard before that but trimmed it down. Never again! ;)
  • Thanks, that's a good question. I need to stick around and see and read people's success, advice, what they do right and even what they do wrong. I need to be willing to put my progress out there with some pics, the good and the bad, and take what comes. :)
  • Thanks. :)
  • Yes, definitely. I sit all day When I'm bored, especially in the afternoon, I go get snacks. It's a bad habit I'm breaking.
  • Thanks! :)
  • Serial starters? ... I am the King of All Serial Starters. :/ I came back to MFP, deciding to get back on track after a hiatus of about a year and a half, when I let everything go... diet, exercise, outlook, goals. You name it, it went.It started in June 2012 when my rotator cuff started going south. I had lost ~30 lbs…
  • 1. It's not a matter of fitness or health, it's appearance (I guess I am shallow :( ). In reality I don't like how I let myself go. 2. Not believing I can do it. Maybe even fear of success.
  • Have a Snickers Bar. I was responding to you with an observation.
  • A lot of people are. The men are generally known as BHH - Big Handsome Husband.
  • And not eat what we know doesn't work! :D
  • Oh yeah! I forgot about the Greek yogurt! :)
  • Not to go off topic, but I invoke Special Snowflake Syndrome as the reason for me not learning. See, I really don't learn. I had a DNA test done, and one sequence of genes I carry... are you ready?... prevents me from learning very well from mistakes. I live in Groundhog Day Land. I said I'm a mess. :( :p
  • I'm pretty much 22 for 22. I'm a mess. :(
  • Thanks Coconutty. Are you at the bb.com Keto forum? I hang out there but rarely say anything. Over there I'm Minotaur (goal was to become half man half beast :D). I have a post from a few months ago when I tried starting keto again (it was a failure to launch :( ) and keto flu.
  • You don't have to tell me twice! :D I don't expect very much of myself in the weight room in the coming days or weeks.
  • I've heard the warnings about artificial sweeteners tricking the body into thinking it's real sugar. I just got a small coffee with Half & Half, no sweetener, and it's not bad. Like anything it probably takes time to adapt. I do cardio - treadmill and outdoor walking - just for fitness. I used to run and bike ride but…
  • I love liverwurst, chicken and beef livers. I can eat mass quantities. :)
  • Yes, I take 150 mcg of levothyroxine (T4) and 25 mcg of liothyronine (T3). I'm due for bloodwork soon.
  • Congratulations to him! :) I'll be 58 next week. I will be very happy to break a 40 waist and get back into my 38s. Yes, I have 3 sets... 42, 40, 38. I was in 38s for a time, trying to get down to 36 but we see how that went. I know it gets harder as we get older, but it's not impossible. Unfortunately because of my…
  • At /r/keto I am Thorsmadr (Thor's man) because Thorbjorn and variations are already taken. We're like *kitten*... all over. :D I'm poorly prepared today, so I'm a little hungry now even after lunch. That was just a roast chicken quarter (breast and wing) and a small salad with mixed greens, tomatoes, cukes, etc. I won't…
  • I am definitely a carnivore! I never knew about the sodium until recently. In the past when I did keto I didn't get keto flu, brain fog or dragon breath. It may be because I love genoa salami. :) But when I tried a couple of months ago, I felt like crap and fell off. We keep Goya chicken bouillon at home.
  • Thanks. :)
  • Thorbjornn (or Thorbjorn) is Icelandic and Old Norse for 'thunder bear'. I am a bear and a follower of the Norse god Thor (not the Marvel version, but the real Thor ;) ).
