Log the individual ingredients if I have a list of them to hand otherwise I do a search and see what everyone else has logged as homemade, there are usual several options.

As i eat generally otherwise I forgot something if I do it at the end of the day. The other reason I do it as I go as if I'm about to have something a bit naughty the thought of logging it sometimes makes me rethink it.
