I log my over-eaten calories on the day I over eat them (day 1). Then I go to bed (and hope I don't have heartburn. haha). And THEN I also log them as breakfast on day 2 (via quick-add) and try to not go over my calorie goal on day 2. At the end of day 2, I take the quick-added calories back out again so that my net…

I'm coming over from the Easter challenge, too! SW: 222 (Late January) Easter Challenge Goal Weight (Achieved! Yay!) and 4th of July Challenge Starting Weight: 200 July 1st (my birthday, therefore more important than the 4th of July, in my book ) Goal Weight: 179.9

So... Update: My last couple weeks haven't been great... I finally figured out that I've been under eating (really emotional and lethargic, most of the day) So I'm going to bump up my calorie goal and switch to a challenge aiming for July. I think I could probably still make this goal, but I've decided it wouldn't be…

I need to remember this about the "glow" feeling. I used to do morning workouts, but haven't lately. I vaguely recall that feeling, and it would be great to have it back. Thanks for reminding me!
-
haha. fun! I'm just wondering when I'll stop feeling like a troll crashing through the underbrush when running. hehe

OP here. Progress update: I'm down to about 200 lbs, now, and had an interesting moment the other day: I went for a walk and came upon an intersection, so I jogged across because there was a car coming soon, and was really surprised to find that I just felt like keeping going. It was way easier than I expected! I…

Bookmarking this! I just successfully finished the "20 Pounds by Easter 2016!" challenge/thread. So I'll start here, now. This goal sounds very possible for me if I'm able to keep my motivation - although it also sounds a bit challenging. (I'd be ok with losing 20 lbs by July.) I'll give this a shot, because a…

I made it! My current loss is 21 lbs since I re-started my dieting in late January. Didn't expect to get there a week early (actually, I expected to get here a week late or so), but I'm excited I did. (And even more excited that I'm so close to one-derland again. ) Starting Weight: 222 Easter Goal Weight: 202…

@MlleKelly - Thanks! This is inspiring.
-
@enterdanger - I'm curious why you say this... (I'm not a runner, but I'm really enjoying this thread!) Is it because you're cold and just want to be done sooner? Or some other reason I can't imagine?

Thanks, you guys! These responses are awesome and exactly what I was looking for! I'm definitely jealous of those of you who can run on a beach. haha  @cwolfman13 - I like that "general fitness" philosophy - I think that's why learning to be a runner has subconsciously been a semi-goal for me. @gdyment -…

@Springfield1970 Wow! Yes, a bit more extreme than I was expecting, but I'm so glad you shared! Good point to mention your body frame size. I have a large (or medium?) frame --it's hard to really know when you're overweight.

@wenrob Yeah, you have to be logged into the desktop version. From the "MY HOME" tab, click on the sub-tab of "Check-In", and then scroll way down to find the "Edit Previous Entries" link (which is located right above the "Save Changes" button). Click that link. At the top of the page, you can see your original "Starting…

2nd week in this challenge. I'm 8lbs down, now. (was further, but then super bowl party...eek! but I gotta say - weight lifting after eating brownies the night before is much easier than weight lifting after (accidentally) eating an Atkins meal the night before! haha, yay for carbs!)
-
Wait!!! Don't delete old weights! Just add a "previous entry" from before your first-ever entry. I originally started in march 2013 at 265. I'm starting over, now, at 222. So I added a 222 weight entry for January of 2013 - that way I can still see the old graphs.

Ok, I've been doing this for a week, now, and I'm down 5 lbs! I know it'll come off quickly at the beginning, though, so I don't expect that to continue. But at least I'm 25% of the way to my Easter goal.

@Miss_Mabee, Very interesting! I appreciate you sharing! I do agree that eating in peace and quiet helps me recognize hunger/fullness more. It's nice to simply enjoy what you're eating, too! Instead of thinking about whatever else is going on. I find, too, that if someone interrupts me (mostly at work) when I'm eating a…
-
Sorry to derail the topic, but @Miss_Mabee, I love this idea of practicing intuitive eating. Do you have a strategy or method you generally use for it? How long do you "go off the grid" for when you do that? Back on topic... Could you just "quick add" one calorie? But I agree with most posters here - as far as I've…

This response is probably overkill, but I feel like it sheds some light on why I had the same thing happen... I put my MFP goal to 2lbs/wk loss, and ended up consistently losing around 3-3.5 lbs / week for several months. So... Keep in mind that the MFP goal of weight lost per week is based only on fat loss. But the…

Hmm... Maybe I'll give this a shot. But I'm a late-comer, so I'll aim for 20, but be happy with a more realistic 10-15. I'm restarting my diet today. I like the idea of an intermediate goal. :) SW: 222.3 (Today, Jan 25) GW: 202.3 (Easter challenge) UGW: 179 CW: 222.3 I've never tried one of these challenges before, so I'm…

I'm admittedly awful at the running thing... but in case if you want more ideas: In the beginning of my running, I had the same problem as you! So I would inhale for two steps and then exhale for three steps. No idea if that's wise or not, but i figured an odd pattern of breathing would work both sides of my abs. And if I…

I totally agaree with you. That's why I typically bump my activity level up by one level - to match my actual loss, better (and I get more calories! yay! lol).
-
Ok, I fixed my math. Hopefully this is right, now....
-
Also, a little math (if i'm any good at math...), extrapolated from that second article, given that 1 lb = 454 grams 1 lb fat = 454 grams fat = 87% triglyceride + 13% water = 394g triglyceride + 60g water = (394*9) calories of energy + 60g water = 3546 calories of energy + 60g water 1 lb glycogen = 454 grams glycogen = 22%…

Glycogen is definitely something you should read up on! :) It's a big, big factor in the "water weight" thing. I'm not a scientist/nutritionist, but from my memory of my own googling on the topic... Your body has a preferred amount of Glycogen stored up for quick and easy access to energy. Glycogen is made up of one-part…

Cool, thanks! I love oats, so this recipe would be fun to try - especially because it's small enough for just me! (I'm single, so no one else around to eat my cooking leftovers.) I don't think the Healthy Choice one is a "crisp", though. It's more of a caramel-ly sort of apple dessert. Any other ideas, anyone?
-
Don't give up yet!! When I'm on vacation or holidays, or whatever, I just tell myself to try to not go over whatever would be my maintenance calorie goal. (so I'm still loosing - even if it's only one calorie!) It keeps me honest with logging, which is a victory in and of itself! :) I agree, though, social eating is one of…

Sometimes, I think people honestly don't notice. Not that they're being rude or anything -- they just see you for your personality instead of your appearance. Eventually, you seem enough different that it makes them do a mental "double-take" of sorts. Or other times, they notice but don't know how to talk about it (without…

I'm a beginner, too, and I've noticed that it helps when I treat running kind of like strength training: Only every other day and/or not when I'm still sore. The last thing I want is to injure myself! This is partly why I haven't tried C25K... I don't want to feel like I HAVE to run on certain days... I just want to run…

I concur. I actually bought a down puffer coat, this winter - when I've resisted in previous years, because I knew they only make you look bigger. Now, I look smaller than I used to look even when I'm wearing my new coat! Yay! :)
