Great job! I loved that you saved your "before" shirt. That really shows the changes. I'm saving one pair of jeans per size I drop to take a stack picture.

Thanks for this thread; I needed a bit of inspiration today. I'm 5'4" 52 years old There are a year's worth of progress pictures on my profile page. I'm just back from about a six week break from logging. I gained about five pounds in that time, which I consider a success. I counted nothing and ate "anything" but found…

Thanks! Great breakdown. The screenshots are very helpful. Tagging to save.

Before I bought a fitbit, I used a free app on my android phone. There are several plus some that are bike odometers as well. I'm sure the istore has similar apps. I let fitbit sync for my mfp calorie adjustments. Fitbit doesn't go by the "1200" calorie rule, so I often don't get calories to eat back until I've walked more…

ME: No thanks on that birthday cake (that I didn't build into my day.) Random other person: "Oh, come on. It won't kill you to have one piece." ME: Yay, Cake! (I've got room in my macro today) chubby friend: "Oh, there goes your diet!" ME under my breathe :Um, which one of us has lost weight? Yeah, me! ME: I can't eat that…

I'm 5'4" When I started last year, I was 209 in size 20-22 pants and 22 tops. currently I'm at 162 in six 14 pants and medium tops. Last night I bought a size 12 pair of slacks that I can get into but are still a bit tight. I also bought two size M summer dresses that I would *never* have even picked up last summer. :) I…

That's why I bought the Fitbit One instead of the flex. I love that I can clip it on and no one sees it. My husband has a flex and I like that I have the readout; he only gets the five lights feedback unless he syncs.

I started eleven months ago (expecting to fail again) with a goal of fifty pounds. I'm FOUR LITTLE POUNDS away! I've adjusted my goal to aim for within the "healthy" weight range, which means about 70 total. I hope to accomplish that by this summer. I've had some stalls but it's been an easier year than I expected. It's a…

Sixty pounds is a great accomplishment! We didn't gain in a day or a week; we can't lose it that fast. You continue to make progress and that's awesome. Visual comparisons help me. Here are some weight comparisons for sixty pounds: *an average nine year old child *an average basset hound * a stack of NINETY People…

Great NSV! Isn't it weird how our internal "mirror" lies to us sometimes?

Thanks. Way to cut through the b.s. Bump to add to my feed. As I near the 50 lbs mark, I've grown philosophical about the process. So many people ask my "secret." My answer is the same: no secret, just burn more calories than you consume. PERIOD. It all boils down to that. If you aren't exercising, eat at TDEE-80% to be…

I fluctuated a lot from Thanksgiving to New Year's but overall a two pounds gain. I'm pleasantly surprised considering the level of my overindulgences.

Great Idea! I'm going to get jars and beads after work today! My visualization so far is of comparisons like "That turkey weighs 27 pounds and I've lost more than that." I read that human fat is similar in size and density to common butter. So when I think about a cart with FORTY packs of butter, I feel pretty darn proud!!…

That's my favorite so far. When mine were that age we took that trip but didn't bundle the announcement at Christmas. But we did two things I recommend: 1. we bought them clear plastic piggybanks which they decorated with Disney themes of their choice. They were encouraged to save their own money to buy extras at the…

My kitchen scale is my best friend. A little hint: keep it in a zip lock bag. Then you will be able to keep it cleaner longer and easier. (I learned this trick long ago using a kitchen scale for soap making. Oils are messy.)

I started in March of this year, so 40 pounds in 30 weeks. That averages to 1.33 pounds a week. The first month of so I was losing at 2 pounds or more a week but I started at 209. Lately, I stall for a week or so, then drop 1-2 seemingly overnight. I was logging wait once a week to not drive myself nuts but I've been…

My husband is the nuttered popcorn addict at my house. We pop it in an oil popper, usually in olive oil. I sprinkle mine with garlic powder or whatever spice jumps out at me. I figure butter or olive oil are still better than the chemical medley of microwave shelf stable pop corn. It's all about portion control!

Thanks for all the great tips. I want all the friends on my newsfeed to read this!

I want this on my newsfeed. Thanks!

I used to log once a week but for the last few weeks, I log every morning that I am home, whether it's a gain or a loss. (I travel about 10 days a month.) I wanted to have a record of the fluctuations. I try not to obsess, but I do. I'm going to go back to once a week once I see a few months of zig zags. I've hit a plateau…

8/22 drink lots of water - check stay in calorie target - check (I'm trying to stay 50 cal +\- TDEE-20% so the MFP goal doesn't always fit. exercise - FAIL I was under the weather Wednesday night - Thursday and felt like a wet noodle. I'll try today but don't know how much energy I'll have left after work. Yard work this…

I'm pretty fanatical about logging. I'm 100+/- my goal almost every day. I have a cheat day most weekends, but that honestly is usually alcohol and not a binge day, just not on goal. Water is not a problem for me anymore. I drink buckets every day. One thing I think has really helped me is advice from a friend who is a…
