  • Yes! The key for me was to reduce carb and sugar intake, increase protein and introduce weightlifting. I thought I would look like a linebacker by weightlifting, but it's been quite the opposite. Do heavy compound weightlifting with a bar, do cardio 2-3 times a week HIIT style, and count your calories. Other life changer…

  • Wow! Inspiration results! Did you succeed with Strong Curves or what program?
  • Yes, for all the barbell exercises you mention.
  • Are you still doing Strong Curves or other program?
  • Wow, you guys are good. Never thought of some of your questions, you are much more experienced than I am! I've been eating at maintenance for only about a month. A deficit prior to that. The weird thing is that notice lots of improvement in my upper body and legs, just not the butt. Heavy for me is (I'm a newbie and never…
  • You go girl! Keep going and really show him, best revenge ever! I recently had some marital problems where my husband had a crush on a younger, more attractive co-worker, that really deflated my self-esteem. I've lost 20 lbs since and picking myself up and doing this for me this time. I am in a weight loss competition at…
  • Whip up a sugar free chocolate pudding with 2 to 3 tablespoons of fat free cool whip with a wire wisk. Add some fresh raspberries on top with a little splenda or agave. Tastes just like chocolate mousse. ;)
  • Amazing abs! Please tell us more about your routine, diet, and stats. Blessing bro. :)

  • Preparing everything! I set out my gym clothes the night before with all accessories (ear phones, water, shoes) and meal plan before grocery shopping. I prepare my lunch every day and try to pre log the night before to have a plan laid out. I take magnesium to help with chocolate cravings, and try to get to bed at a…
  • I noticed the veins in my hands are more prominent. It must be the strength training. I also notice that I have the "weight lifters walk" after I strength train. I used to think it was an arrogant type walk but now I know it's how your body actually moves after lifting, because everything is sore!
  • I weigh my plate before I serve myself. Add the food, weigh again and do the math (minus the weight of the plate).
  • I have the same exact problem. Try taking magnesium supplements. This helps a ton when I'm PMS'ing. I eat chocolate everyday, but try to find chocolate protein bars (and pretend it's a regular chocolate bar) and other low cal treats. Try jello chocolate pudding pops, Adkins mudslide bar, Adkins trail mix bar, sugar free…
  • Wow! You look beautiful! Can you share how many calories you eat and did you notice a metabolism boost (where you can eat more calories) once you hit the weights?
  • The short story...I found out my husband has a crush on a beautiful co-worker and I became Ms. frumpy. The long story...My weight has been a problem most of my life which has affected my self esteem in many areas. I thought I lived in a very secure marriage and trusted my husband and never doubted his fidelity. I…
  • I am 5'3", 39 years old. SW 159 CW 137 GW 125 I am eating 1150-1200 calories a day. When I work out which is about 5 times a week, I do give myself a cushion and eat 100 to 200 calories more a day. This is an experiment to see if eating back these calories will work to still lose weight.
  • I know the struggle all too well. One word of caution while you are on these forums. With PCOS you need to reduce calories more than non-PCOS people. It sucks, but it's the truth, our bodies don't need as many calories. The only way I have been able to lose with lots of experimentation under my belt is to be at 1200…
  • Wow! You look fantastic! Did you adjust your maintenance and weight loss calories down from what the calculators say due to your PCOS? It is so funny I read your post today, because I am apple shaped and just ordered Strong Curves for the lower body, and am working light weights on top to balance out my shape a bit. Thanks…
  • Impressive! What were your stats and where are you at now? By the way your makeup is on point. Beautiful.
  • I am currently 140lb. My goal weight is 125-130. I am medium to large framed with broad shoulders. I am curious what your max calorie goal is for all of us that are 5'3''.
  • usmcmp, you are an inspiration! I am barely getting into strength training and used to buy in to the fact that cardio is the only way to get a nice stomach. I hate cardio. I know you mention the You Are Your Own Gym program, which I'll definitely look into. Can you explain a little bit about how much actual weight I should…
  • Stop looking for happiness the same place you lost it. If the problem is worth worrying about, do something about it; if you can't do anything, stop worrying and do something about something else.
  • I have a wide back. As a female, I have always been self conscious of it. I admire the thinner upper body appearance. But in my case, I'd have to remove ribs to get to that look no matter how thin I become.
  • I too have a similar super busy lifestyle. I know what you mean that you are lucky if you can take a bathroom break with the high intensity of a demanding job. I am married with kids so lots of running around. For me it is 90% diet. This means prepare prepare prepare. On Saturday I make a grocery list of what I will need…
  • Make Shrimp Ceviche. I do the same with a bag of tilapia fish. Just boil for a few minutes, drain, and rinse with cold water. Add one small diced white onion, one diced tomatoe, one cup finally chopped cilantro, two diced jalapenos, 4-5 limes juiced, salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Put over tostadas or lettuce wraps. I also…
  • Hang in there, be strong, do not give up! I'm so glad you posted this because there will be people praying for you, including me. I believe in miracles and healing. I don't know what your faith is, but I know from experience a very powerful two word prayer................Jesus Help. He'll be there and will give you a…
  • I've lost 12 lbs and my period was 2 months late! Now I got it and it is definitely heavier than normal and lots of cramps. I cut out most sugars completely and cut calories to what I used to eat. I think it's just my body adjusting. It is time for my annual soon, so I'll get full blood work and pap soon anyway. I would…
  • It's the little changes that make a big difference. Congrats!
  • MFP set me at 1200 and my doc set me at 1150 after i did an RMR test to really nail down how much i should eat. I am 5 2' and weigh 146 lbs, sedentary most days and i do have PCOS. I am eating 1200 and losing about 1lb per week.
