Thanks for passing the word about the 120 min IPA. My husband is a big fan! We love DFH! p.s. in moderation is just fine. especially, as you said, you're choosing quality over quantity.

Thanks for the tips! I'm 5'3 but I don't know if I necessarily want the short short ones (I hate that ride up - maaaaaybe TMI). I'll check out that site and those brands now, thanks! I do need to just go "tri" some on. Especially because my first one is in June. Eeeek!

Totally agree with this. Have fun and get back to it when you get back from vacation!!

Quorn products, another meat substitute, are made without soy if you're worried about that. With any of these items, yes, sodium is an issue. So, lots of water and limit your processed (sodium filled) foods for other meals throughout the day!

I personally like the Boca Spicy chicken patties (not sure on the calorie count) and the tomato brushetta ones (those are like 90 cals). I had a tomato one last night for din with 1/2 a slice of provolone and a little bit of spaghetti sauce. Deeeee-lish! Morning Star burgers are better tasting than Boca, in my opinion.

I'm in! I'm shooting for another 5lbs and maintaining from there. I've definitely been struggling to lose this weight lately!

Yes, skinny just means that they use skim milk, no whip and sugar free syrup if its available.

I like tea - Bigelow, specifically...not sure if its available in Canada - Caramel/Vanilla flavored. To it I add a little bit of Almond Milk and one packet of Stevia, all natural sweetener. It's SO GOOD and cappuccino like!

One more thing - my trainer recently suggested maybe doing a mix of low/high calorie days. So, one day at 1200, one day at 1500-1600, 2 days low, 1 day high, etc. The mix up might shock your body into losing weight.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. I plateaued around 135 and had the hardest time dropping weight. I refuse to eat less calories (I'm around 1300/day), so, I had to think of some other methods to "trick" my body. I recently increased my water intake IMMENSELY. I went from drinking about 32-40 oz a day to around 70-80…

Thanks for all the comments guys! I usually don't go overboard on my fruit intake but it got me thinking this morning.

I too am a runner and have had some serious hip problems over the last year or so. My trainer recommended some hip exercises that stretch out your hip flexers and make it much more tolerable. I'll try my best to explain each: Hip /core conditioning: Side steps : She has me do 15x on each side; sink your hips back Hip lift:…

I can't do plain personally; way too bitter. Love the fage w/honey. Have recently switched back to chobani though. Less ingredients so I figure its better in the long run. I like plain chobani with a 1/4 cup of bear naked vanilla almond crunch granola. It's awesome! Great with fruit too (any berries).

I used to get shin splints all the time when I ran CC and track in HS. They are terrible! I would recommend biking and swimming (if possible) as much as you can. Also, consider investing in new shoes...that may play a role in this. Asics are my new go to brand but your best bet would be to go to a running store and talk to…

Thanks again for the advice! I'm going with my trainers schedule for now. Shes got me really focusing on my run which I know will be the most challenging (esp after the swim and bike). Not really looking forward to the Brick workouts and probably won't dive into those until closer to the race. For now, I'm just going to…

Thanks so much for the tip!

Trader Joe's has a 3 layered hummus that is amazing. Cilantro/Red Pepper/Plain - seriously, so good. Mix that with some of their Flax Seed tortilla chips and you are good to go!

Well, I don't wanna spend a ton of money on a road bike, so, I think I might just use my mountain bike that I already have. Kinda lame, but, I'm not sure if I'll do another tri and those bikes are super expensive! The swim is in a lake. Should be interesting. I'll be doing my training in a pool now because I live in MI and…

Thanks for the responses guys! My trainer had me do an interesting workout last weekend to get used to that feeling when your legs get tired: - 1 mile moderate-fast ride on bike (took me about 3ish minutes) - 30 squats - 15 alternating lunges - 30 second wall sit - Repeat 5x It was a lot harder than I thought. I definitely…

You and I have the same favorites!

Title 9 has some bras for large busts with great reviews. They're a tad bit pricey, but, well worth the money (you can say goodbye to wearing 2 bras at once!) Here's a few options: http://www.titlenine.com/product/sports-bras-at-title-nine/shop-sports-bras-by-cup-size/d-cup-bras/313801.do?sortby=ourPicks…

I would say to improve your quality of food a bit more. The less processed the better! You eat quite a bit of salads which is good, but, it seems like there's some room for improvement with your breakfasts (i.e. try cottage cheese, yogurt, steel cut oats instead of high processed foods like cereal, french toast, etc.) and…

I hit a "plateau" of sorts the last month or so as well. Was stuck at the same weight for a long time and got frustrated. I switched things up recently, eating every 3 hours, drinking TONS of water, limiting processed foods and have noticed a pretty significant difference in my weight. As far as meals go, I've switched up…

I've experienced a "plateau" lately myself and switched to 3 meals + AM and PM snacks. For Breakfast, I'll usually do cottage cheese with fruit OR steel cut oats with fruit or nuts or dried cranberries OR a protein shake. AM snack is usually a hard boiled egg OR almonds/nuts OR fruit. Lunch is any number of things from…

I usually enter it in as high impact aerobics for 25 minutes and use the calculations it gives me. Hope this helps!

I like upbeat songs - i.e. Lady Gaga, Britney, etc. I ran a 10K this past November and my "power" song was Bulletproof by La Roux. This may not be your type of music but it keeps ya pumped up! Good luck on the race!
