  • i love numbers too, but i think youre getting caught up in equivalence portrayed as facts. calories are worked out based on how much a food substance could heat water when burned. saying that a deficit of 3500 is equivalent to a pound of body mass isnt strictly correct. becuase it would depend on which elements of the…
  • bump for interest
  • yeh they will be most definitley water gains. my weight flcutuates 6-12lbs during the normal week.. sometimes as much as 10lbs between the evening and mornings if youre really interested in the overview of the science.. now im para phrasing so im aware someone might jump down my throat from consumption to absorbtion in the…
  • This is quite a tricky situation and there maybe a few ways to tackle it. if you dont work every day of the week, you could try similar principles to the 5:2 diet. that covers the HOW? the WHAT? well that is tricky with out knowing you, but the best advice ive had is pre-plan, pre-prepare what ever you are going to have.…
  • there is another option, depending on where you live , uk its certainly true. restaurants are required to be able to provide, upon request, nutritional information for the food they are serving. now im not saying demand it from the waiter when he takes your order, but maybe privately ask, or phone the restaurant in…
  • im in this for the long haul, anyone can feel free to add me, especially if youre partial to clash of clans by supercell
  • if you pre-log then at least you have the opportunity to change what you are eating, if you only log after youve eaten then you are setting yourself up to fail. even if you cant plan ahead, put the food infront of you before you eat it, log it, then see how it fits into your goals. if its to much then somethings got to…
  • im also looking for new friends so anyone can feel free to add me, im very active on the site as i have a desk based job Tim
  • getting active friends takes a little bit of work just keep an eye out on the forums for people (much like yourself) asking for friends, send them a request, with a little message stating why youve asked them to be friends. seems to work for me. Secondly, you can upload pics to your profile but you cant share them as such…
  • ive sent you a request, im 24 and a keen runner when im able. currently 3 weeks post knee surgery, but usually clock up 6-10 miles a week
  • ok now im with you thought i was going mad, ive always perceived it as a low carb diet, im sure it recommends not eating any refined foods? or potatoes. you would struggle to hit Macro of carbs with those conditions. even an entire wheel barrow of veg is about 100 grams of carbs. but anyway, its too darn expensive. Source:…
  • yeh i said paleo is a version of atkins which is also a low carb diet. i agree its low carb i just said it was posh and expensive with its grass fed meats etc
  • really quick way i used to use when i was a student. Write down 5 meats or fish, write down 10 veggies write down 5 sides (pasta, potato, rice, etc) then cut them out, place in 3 piles face down and then pick one from each pile. you have your meal. if you take into account which foods are readily available in your local…
  • just going to draw a line in the sand here. ive heard it all now.. it all. calories is a calculation of how much 1 gram of food (when burnt) changes the temperature of 1 gram of water. the calories we measure are actually Kcal so 1000's there is a chain of thought that states that chewing and or digesiton of certain foods…
  • ive added all of you? hope you dont mind, im in the uk in Reading and im trying to grow my network of MFP'ers.
  • Paleo is a posh version of atkins, i find low carb diets work cutting out processed foods isnt a bad idea either. my only reason for not doing the paleo extent of the low carb diet is because its too expensive. also, snacks are extremely limited.
  • any more for any more? id like to grow my network of dieters
  • i think youve come to the right place if you want to have people rallying around you with similar goals. i wouldnt have much hope for 10 weeks and this site advocates lifestyle changes over quick fixing! what is your current plan for achieveing your goals? do you exercise much? what sort of diet suits you?
  • decided that that would be your sole contribution to posting since april 2013... good work
  • it could have been me... originally... but its not :) i cant find the guys name thought but its posted here. http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/ thanks for the advice... im definitley not trying to make it my own and i certainly dont offer any programs or endorse subscribing to them
  • Also, remember that Calories are a metric of energy used. 1 calorie is the energy required to heat 1 gram of water by 1 degree so food can be burned (literally) and how much water it heats up by 1 degree is the number of calories. Now change that for exercise and the metric is guestimation at best. lets take an apple at 80…
  • thats not a bad idea, ill have a look if there is one near by
  • i was hoping there might be a similar sport that has a similar atmosphere. i appreciate all the responses though guys and gals, i think the tri's is the best bet. im not sure about crossfit.. i really dont get it? as far as ive seen it promotes a competiton in quantity rather then quality and for all its worth. who wants…
  • i have dont a couple of tri's and they are currently my best option. the straight line running is fine, its only 2 weeks ago i had my best 5k time. maybe i should have put that, its just ive recently moved and in setting up my new life ive only met rugby players. so literally every single person i know will be at rugby 3…
  • thats sounds advice, thanks very much, at least to deal with the biterness of stopping, if i go and watch straight away it will just tease me!
  • hiking is my off season activity ive only jsut got back from Morroco and the atlas mountains my main concern and request for advice is... what the hell can i do with myself when all my friends are playing Rugby at the weekends?
  • i shattered my tibia when i was eighteen and the bone has a plate on top. couple that with my joints naturally hyper extending and ive got a virtually ruptured patella tendon which is constantly aggrevated by the movement of my knee. that has put a lot of stress on the other tendons and im going under the knife to have…
  • i might be my own worst enemy here but i already go to the gym. its pretty common for rugby players to do weight training. i cant really see it being as fun as team sport. infact i prefer to train on my own to get it done. My knee isnt totally destroyed but its close, with out labouring the point i can still actually run…
