I'm a heavy weight: 332 lbs. It takes a 3X shirt to fit my chest and shoulders properly. A size 58 jacket which fits in the shoulders, but way too big in the waist. <--- Pic taken today.

I was teaching piano to students before I could drive a car.

You should do both. One is just as important as the other but for different reasons. Cardio will benefit your heart and blood pressure. Stregth training will build lean muscle and improve overall metabolism. If weight loss is the goal, low weight and high reps will get you there. With cardio, for it to be effective, you…

At 317 pounds, 1) I must have high blood pressure. When I go for doctor visits, they check my BP twice, then ask what BP meds I take. My BP is normal with nothing more than exercise. 2) I'm out of shape. Yea, I do anywhere from 80-95 mintues of cardio and weight training, 5 days a week! 3) I'm a body builder. Well, that…

Right after major back surgery, I realized there were certain exercises I'd never do again, but that fact failed to slow me down. Thus, my quote: Walls are not a reason to stop, but a cause to seek new direction.

I looked up a BMI/BF% calculator online. You have to know your neck and waist measurements.

Way too much sugar from all the fruit and not near enough protein.

Looking at your diary, I see a couple of things. One, calorie intake may be a little on the low side. Try to move it up to around 1500. Second, reduce your carbohydrate intake and increase your protein intake. As you have added exercise to your routine, you'll need the proteins for muscle recovery. These are just my…

Fruit is not the best before bed option because of the high sugar count. If you're hungry before bedtime, I suggest getting casein protein from your health food store and having that before bed. It is a slowly absorbed protein that will keep you full during the night and help with muscle recovery. It will not cause you to…

I worked out alone for years. Pretty self motivated. But, workingout with friends just makes if funner.

I'm just curious what is keeping you unmotivated? You're obviously having success is dropping pounds with a 50 pounds weight reduction. And that is outstanding work! You should be proud of what you have done. I have told people before that the biggest part in the weight loss journey is winning the battle of the mind. I'm…

I still have carbs, I just dont get them from pastas, rice, potatos, breads, and such things. And I don't miss any of it at all. Have some from time to time, but not much at all. This is not a life of limits or restrictions, nor do I view it as such. Its a choice. I do most of the cooking for my wife and I because it seems…

There are five different types of sugar, but they all have the same effect. Too much sugar leads to fat gain and can prevent weight loss. Consuming high levels of sugar, no matter the source, causes the body to respond with an insulin dump to counter the increased sugar levels. Cholesterol is also broke down by type, and…

You are most welcome. Anything I can do to help motivate and encourage.

Working out that hard and only taking in 1400 calories is not a good thing. First, what are calories? Its a measure of the energy your body requires to work. Think of it like this: if you just run your car but dont put fuel in it, what happens? Its shuts down and stops running. The human body is the same way. If you keep…

I can only suggest you change the carb source by getting breads out of your diet. Same with pasta and heavy starch items like potatos. I'm not suggesting you go "no carb" because you have to have some carbs for proper diet. Give it a try and see what happens.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out how they attach pictures to here. But, they are on my profile, so no big deal.
