Since bginning the South Beach diet on March 19, I've dropped 22 pounds as of this morning! Along with the diet is my exercise routine that is doing wonders as well.
1. 30 mins on elliptical, random hills, level 10, keeping heart rate between 120-123.
2. Circuit Training room, to include aerobic steps in between weight machines.
3. Abdominal Room. got to work the core for good weight loss.
4. Extra Credit: basicly, any weight machines i want to use until its time to get ready for work. About 20 mins or so
I don't count calories at all. I eat till I am satisified and not over-full. I will tell that trying to workout hard and only eating 1200-1400 calories is a good way to get yourself in medical trouble. You want to drop the pounds, you got to feed the machine what it needs. Cut the carbs, up the good fats, and get the lean proteins working right for you. More important than the calories are where the calories come from.

Says who. I include everything in what I am eating except (meant, chicken and seafood). I am not going to omit eating carbs, because for me this is not feasible for the rest of my life. I set my calorie intake to 1500, sometimes go over a little bit, but I am satisfied and is still losing weight. I am failed many times and refuse to follow any diet that tells me to leave or cut something out - there are good carbs and bad cards. I have been dieting all my life and I am still fat, since following MFP, I have never felt better within myself and my body. To each his own.0

Good work! You do have to find what works for you! I'm glad you're seeing success!
I tried South Beach a few years back and did well for a month and dropped 25 pounds but I couldn't keep up with the diet and ended up gaining it all back. Now I track my calories through MFP have lost 17 pounds so far. If it works for YOU do it!0 -
Congratulations on your success.
That said, a lifestyle that restricts/limits isn't sustainable for everyone - particularly long term, if they don't monitor calories. Magically I've lost 40-50ish pounds and maintained it for 9 years practicing moderation. I eat anywhere from 1,500 - 2,500 calories a day.0 -
You may not count calories, but I'm 100% sure you're still eating within a certain range. It's not bad to be aware of how much you're actually eating. In fact, I think it's important in the long run0

I still have carbs, I just dont get them from pastas, rice, potatos, breads, and such things. And I don't miss any of it at all. Have some from time to time, but not much at all. This is not a life of limits or restrictions, nor do I view it as such. Its a choice. I do most of the cooking for my wife and I because it seems I have a talent for cooking. I make some killer dishes that fit the guidelines of the diet plan. Take snow pea pods, for example. Saute onions and mushrooms, deglaze with with some soy sauce, add in snow pea pods, and then top with cut up pieces of turkey bacon. I grill almost everything and produce grilled meats with unreal flavor.
I have survive a fight with double pneumonia that almost killed me and fought back from a major back surgery because a spinal injury was causing me to loose use of my left leg. Be assured of one thing: my life is anything but restricted and limited. Thats why I ...

Keep up the good work.
I could never give up carbs. Pastas, rice, potatos and bread are my favorite foods. My body wants and needs them. Whatever works for you though, is great.0
