Here are some of my ideas: Get a slow cooker/Crock pot. If time/energy to prepare interesting meals is an issue, this will help you out loads. I love my slow cooker. Get your partner involved in choosing recipes. It sounds like he feels he has no control over what he eats right now, which is why he's a) offering to cook a…

So, I've cobbled together some pop science which goes like this: Cortisol is produced by stress. Sleeping lowers your cortisol levels, so if you don't get enough sleep, your cortisol levels are quite high. Cortisol is a hormone that effectively lowers your blood sugar levels (it's more complicated than that, but that's the…

I've been thinking about trifle recently... I also had no idea that biscuits existed that were 22 calories each! *heads to Asda*

...because he loves her, hopefully.

Turkey-Bacon Omelette (1 egg and 3 whites) with potato salad, cherry tomatoes and cucumber. I have eaten this for lunch for three days on the trot, ha ha! 305 calories for the whole plate

I've had that happen a couple of times on the phone app - I think one of the ingredients doesn't register straight away. It's always righted itself within a couple of minutes for me.
-
The UK RDI for sugars seems very low though - I worked out that if I get my 'five a day' as three veg and two fruit in the appropriate portion sizes (and colours, apparently that's a thing now too), I'd go over my RDI.

Try tracking your body measurements instead of weight - muscle weighs more than fat and you might be pleasantly surprised :)
-
Does that work?!!! Holy moly. I think you've changed my life a bit.

I'm going to assume Brighton uk? There's a big ole Tesco there, get yourself down there and pick up some value veggies, rice, oats, tuna - the value range is actually pretty good, and certainly cheap. Also, this blog is pretty amazing if you're watching your pennies: http://agirlcalledjack.com/

I always log as raw. The water content (and therefore weight) will drop when you cook an item, but the amount of calories in it won't!
-
Also in for replies! I don't deep fry food very often at all, but it would be nice to know how to log it, should the need arise.... *onion rings*

I've been off diet drinks for a week, and I can honestly say that I have not craved carbs the way I did when I was drinking 2/3 pints of diet coke a day. I work in a kitchen and it's hard to resist the lure of the chips, but I've not had any problems doing so in the last week. Just my 2 penn'orth!

Mine was fruit ciders like Rekorderlig - 315 cals a bottle! I would happily have 4 or 5 on a night out - vodka diet coke for me now :S

If it's store bought, I think they calculate calories on uncooked weight. Also, meat shrinks and loses water when you cook it, so that mainly accounts for the drop in weight, not a loss of calories, alas!
-
I'm gutted to see mine disappear!

Now go to a shop, and try on 5 pairs of the same jeans in the same size.... They'll all be different too. It's something to do with the way they cut the fabric for mass produced clothes. There is literally no consistency even within brands!

- Chronic laziness - an aptitude for divorcing myself from reality - a lifetime on the See Food Diet.

I could inspire fear in the hearts of Chinese restaurant owners doing 'all you can eat' deals, once upon a time... I don't think anyone believed how much duck one person could put away! But since being on MFP, I think probably my biggest overeat was yesterday. I'd been out drinking the night before for the first time since…

Hey! I'm planning on starting DDP yoga, but I don't own a heart rate monitor - can anyone give me an idea of the sort of calories they burn in each workout (and, if it's not too personal, your weight/height :) ). Thanking you!
-
That's a pretty comprehensive article, thank you! So, basically what I'm taking away is- sleep more, drink more water, but really there's not much you can do. I guess I'll be considering DOMS a badge of exercising honour!
-
BUMP for the tasty UK goodness!
-
I really hope they are good for your diet, because I've just had the mother of all Chinese take aways..... Seriously, though, most of the time I can convince myself that I don't need to cheat, that I'm doing pretty well and that it's not worth it, and will happily have that salad for dinner and feel a bit smug about it.…

Love your photobombing child, ha ha! You look amazing, well done you! :)
-
I'm not a big exercise fan (being essentially very lazy) so I see my exercise calories as a reward for all my hard work!
-
You have really happy eyes :)
-
Oh, I think I missed a few comments, and repeated them! Sorry! also, p.s., to people suggesting this: please don't take your own mixers out with you, it's really not cool if you're on licensed premises - we're businesses too! :)

You might find that, as you've been off the booze for a little while anyway, you won't need nearly 19+ drinks to get hammered. If you want to drink that much, I think probably a 'caution to the wind' approach will ensure you have a worry free night. After all, one night isn't going to hurt all that much. I work in a pub,…

David Tennant was my favourite doctor too, but I don't think they'd ever brig him back... :( Someone on my FB suggested Tamsin Greig (Fran from Black Books). I love that idea!

Dawn French! <3
