What is most accurate for calorie count? Weighing meat before or after cooking.
i had a pack of lean steak (1 lb) and it was 3 pieces. I had put in my diary that it would be 5.3oz (16 divided by 3). After I grilled it, each piece was about 3oz.
Thanks!

Always before is usually the general consensus.
It is easy to find raw information for foods that you will cook..
eg 100g raw chicken = 20g protein and so on..0 -
I just figured this out today at least for some skinless, boneless chicken breasts The label said 4 oz per serving with 18 servings = 72 oz (which is what was in the package). So that would be raw. I boiled 4 raw pounds (64 oz, or 16 servings) and ended up with 16 servings of just 2.6 oz cooked.0

If it's store bought, I think they calculate calories on uncooked weight. Also, meat shrinks and loses water when you cook it, so that mainly accounts for the drop in weight, not a loss of calories, alas!0
