Hi, I'm your brother from another mother.

I agree with the above posts of "just keep doing what you are doing and relax." I lost 15 lbs my first month and then it has taken me 4 months to lose the next 13 lbs. Additionally, I highly recommend www.TrendWeight.com. It's totally free and has really helped keep my head right through all of this.

I used to drink beer quite a bit. Now, I may drink one or two beers every once in awhile but I usually drink bourbon and diet coke when I'm going to consume an alcoholic beverage now.

45+, not struggling but used to be in that boat. Anyone can add me if they want to.

I have had this problem in the past. TrendWeight.com totally fixed it for me. Now, I weigh daily and if I continue to have four green arrows, I know I am moving in the correct direction. Check it out. It's free and awesome.

Anyone who is serious is welcome to add me.

I'm a 46 year old male. My doc put me on those same meds last year after a visit resulted in a BP reading of somewhere in the neighborhood of 190/150. I don't recall what the exact numbers were but I know it was way too high. He contemplated putting me in the hospital that day but decided against it. Back then, I was…

^^^ This ^^^ I too, love cheese. So much so, I ate it in all three meals today. I was still under and I'm still losing. Eliminating/replacing foods is not a long-term solution. That is why there are so many fad diets and so many yo-yo dieters. You have to do what you are going to do for the rest of your life or you are…

I LOVE the kettlebell! I keep it super-simple though. The Russian Swing is the only thing I do with it. I pasted the link below that got me started with it. It's a great way to work out when I don't have time to hit the gym. CAUTION! Do NOT overdo it the first couple of times. You will be totally out of commission for a…

I do both because of the overestimation potential. As far as 2lbs/wk being a slow loss. I totally disagree with that. That's an excellent loss. The goofy TV shows like Biggest Loser have spun a lot of false expectations. Their show airs weekly but those losses you see are not 7-day losses. It is normal to see big losses…

I weigh daily but then I log it in to TrendWeight.com. TrendWeight has been a lifesaver for me. Even on the days the scale is up, I can still go back and look at the trending history and know that everything is just fine. Green Arrows=Good / Red Arrows=Bad <---It's Grant-proof. :)

There are a LOT of different ones out there. The latest addition is heart rate monitoring. There are several that have just came out in recent weeks that do that. Here is a great link to read reviews and learn about the differences.…

I count all weight-lifting as 1 calorie burnt in the cardio section. Seems to work for me. I've read that HRM isn't accurate for this, too.

This is the norm. "slow and steady weight-loss goals—usually ½ to 2 pounds per week (though weight loss may be faster at the start of a program)" http://win.niddk.nih.gov/publications/choosing.htm
