  • Have you been taking other measurements besides the scale? Whip out that tape measure!! The scale is only one way of measuring progress. I have only lost 3 actual pounds since restarting my journey 2 months ago...however...I have lost 10 inches and 3% body fat. I rarely step on the scale because that number always…
  • 29 just shy of 5' 7" and I need to lose about 35-45 more pounds. I am trying to get down to a 20% body fat percentage rather than a particular weight...hence the range.
  • I am 5' 6.75" does that still count? ;) I have about 35-45ish to lose. I previously dropped about 40 pounds, and then I stopped logging and gained 25 of it back. So I need to re-lose that, and then about 10-20 more to get to where I want to be. I am trying to focus on body fat % vs actual lbs, which is why I have the…
  • What about taking some of your favorite pieces to a taylor and see if they can be taken in? Often times it is not very expensive. You get to keep your favorite ones, and they fit to boot! Otherwise the quilt idea is great. My dad was a marathon runner and my mom had a quilt made out of all his marathon T-shirts for him.

  • I am getting back on the bandwagon myself, but this has worked for me in the past and will work for me again. I stopped logging for about a year, and I have learned I can't maintain without continuing to log. LOG it, because then you are still going to hold yourself accountable for anything extra you consume, and if you…
  • I originally lost 40 pounds prior to my wedding two years ago. I kept it off for about a year, and then I stopped counting calories and I have gained about 25 of that back...so here I am starting again. To get to my original goal weight...I need to lose the 25 I gained back plus about 10 more. I've been back on the bus for…
  • I am from Portland...probably not close enough to be walking buddies, but if you want I'd be happy to be MFP buddies!
  • I'm right there with you friend. My goal (technically I am almost starting over...) is to lose about 30 pounds. Added :)
  • I used to be a DD and now I am a D...however my favorite sports bra is from Nike....it has under-wire support and it is my exclusive workout bra. NO BOUNCE! I now reserve my old regular sports bras for just lounging around the house. They definitely cost $$ but are well worth it when you find a good one. I would suggest…
  • I also have a desk job and an almost 48 mile (roundtrip) commute each day. Though I am the opposite and find myself struggling during the week to be active. I can only make so many trips to fill up my water bottle/get tea/go to the copy room (unfortunately right next door to my cube) before my boss starts to give me the…
  • My Crockpot is my best friend... Tomorrow I am making Picadillo...turn it on before I leave for work come home to finished dinner! I typically premake the quinoa I eat on the side too, but that is easy enough to throw in the rice cooker :) 1 lb ground meat of choice (I prefer lean grass fed beef, but you can use poultry,…
  • If I am baking something like chicken in the oven I will use a tiny bit of chicken stock in the bottom of the pan...but I also want to say not to be afraid of healthy fats in moderation! Your body needs fat to absorb nutrients, so like many are saying...watch your portion size and focus on fats that do the body good!…
  • Take coffee cup over to sink and dump the coffee....refill cup with green tea ;) All kidding aside (I like coffee but only when it has tons of creamer and sugar in it...so now I just avoid it.) My husband loves coffee and while it might sound weird, his favorite thing is to take cold brew and mix it half and half with…
  • I so feel the same way...sometimes I look at the portion indicators and just laugh...my favorite is the oz measurements for things you wouldn't normally weigh...mayo, chips, broccoli...I am just a silly American and I use teaspoons and cups for heavens sake. (Thank goodness for google and conversion rates...who knew eating…
  • Getting married in 141 days 19 hours and 38 minutes...or July 20th. Not that I am counting or anything ;) I have already lost almost 30 lbs and would like to lose another 20 before the wedding. Not my end goal by any means but I would love to be around 155. I do already have my dress, but won't start alterations until end…
  • I grew up on a farm...I didn't usually get things taken away because I was often too busy with chores to really use things anyway...HOWEVER...I never wanted to get myself in trouble because I had the "Respect Pile" The Respect Pile just so happened to be the cow stanchion where they get fed, and needless to say things pile…
  • eatingwell.com or cleaneatingmag.com Awesome recipes for fish!
  • Crunchy French Baguettes...orrrrrr honey oat wheat right out of the oven....mmmmmmmmmmmm! Or zucchini bread sans walnuts! Edited to correct my lovely spelling ;)
  • Have you tried cutting out white processed carbs and sugar? Switching to only 100% whole wheat/grain breads and pastas, brown rice, and non-processed sugars like agave, honey, real maple syrup, stevia, coconut palm sugar etc? Mine isn't completely gone I definitely have a ways to go, but I only really noticed a reduction…
  • You are getting married one day before me! Get it girl!
  • Update: At some point yesterday, Uncle Tom's breathing tube was removed for awhile and he seemed to be able to breath VERY WELL on his own!!!! Thank you, prayers are being answered! They are in the process of removing it again and will see how he does on his own today! The nephrologist (kidney doc) said that the dialysis…
  • Update: They were finally able to start administering low dose Chemo last night, but his kidneys aren't handling it very well. They are standing by to see if they need to start dialysis. Uncle Tom was much more responsive today and is able to make facial expressions and opened his eyes all the way, but still isn't able to…
