Muscle soreness is normal however, if you are just starting a workout, its better to rest if you are very sore. If not, you set yourself up for injury. One thing I found to help with the tingling when on eliptical is to loosen my shoestrings at the top (nearest my toes). Gives your toes a little room to move around and helps with the lack of circulation the other post mentioned.
