Cup of coffee, skim milk, fat free whip cream. Whole grain toast w/fat-free cream cheese and jam. If I get bored with that, I make a smoothie (banana, peanut butter, greek yogurt, skim milk) the night before. If I have time to cook, it's whole grain toast and eggs. Never skip my coffee though!

I'm a nursing student as well. Does that count? :)

Peanut butter and greek yogurt!! So yummy :)

I use it in place of mayo or dressings. Half of an avocado + a couple of tablespoons of greek yogurt...I put it on sandwiches, salads, or use it as a dip. I also eat it by itself. :)

I make my own salads for lunch. Spinach, tomatoes, top with some low-fat cheese, lean meat, or avocado slices and some fat free salad dressing. I make boiled eggs in batches (for the week) so I usually end up either cutting a boiled egg up over my salad, or eating it by itself. You could also cook chicken or lean beef in…

This is awesome! Thank you so much for posting this. :)

Yep. But no one is going to listen to that here.

You mean we can't blame it on the BBQ?

Exactly.

But TWO maps that you found online are enough to be called "evidence" for a theory that has no other support? I think not. You need more evidence than that.

No. I made myself overweight. No portion control, general apathy, and a lack of information regarding nutrition and food are to blame - not pollution. Besides, according to those charts, I live in a "pollution" state, but not an "obese state", so there's no connection there...

I have had some quick weight loss with cutting carbs...but calories work better for the long-term IMO.

I'm an RN...student. Lol close enough? Anyway...days where I have to be up for long hours like that, I try to eat most of my carbs early in the day (usually just breakfast). No carbs after lunch, unless it's a piece of fruit or veggies. I also up my protein intake on clinical days, which I find keeps me going much longer…

I used to run several miles a day. I'm actually trying to get back into this habit, because I liked how my body looked and felt. I WAS toned and fit. I dropped several pants sizes just from running. But I did other workouts, too, and I walked everywhere when I wasn't running. I also have hypothyroidism, but these two…

Yes, your body needs the extra calories. Your metabolism is in the process of regulating. While your body might have been fine with decreased calories before because your metabolism had slowed down, it now requires more to function optimally. Synthroid itself shouldn't cause any hunger side effects.

This. Even those of us that are in healthcare cannot diagnose you online. Please see your doctor.

I had stress fractures in my right hip and knee a couple of months ago. I say take it easy and focus on your recovery. Crutches will give you quite a workout anyway. ;)

A little bit of dark chocolate here and there isn't a bad thing. :)

I also have PCOS and insulin resistance. I find that limiting my carb intake is helpful for getting weight off. I don't do low-carb per say, but I spread out my carb intake evenly throughout the day so that I don't get a huge "dump" of carbs at one meal. I also stay away from sweets, refined carbs (like bagels - no matter…

Tattooed chick over here. :)

I'm in the exact same boat! Attempting to lose 45 pounds, lost 2.8 pounds so far.

Go to another endocrinologist. You have to be persistent to get what you need/want. They cannot read your mind and most likely won't diagnose you with hypothyroidism or prescribe Synthroid unless they're certain that it is affecting you in a negative way. Write down EVERYTHING that you feel, and anything else that you…

Bananas, avocados, beans, brown rice, hummus, cheese, peanuts, peanut butter, oil-popped popcorn, sources of protein (fish, chicken, beef), whole grain bread, olive oil, dried fruit, fruit juice...

It depends on the person. I personally cannot eat only 1200 calories, at least not for the long-term. I end up feeling starved and I don't lose any weight anyway. I usually eat somewhere between 1200-1300 calories most days, and 1400 maybe 2 days a week. My calorie goal is 1400-ish, so I usually end up eating less than my…

I'm guessing that you saw a GP for the thyroid issue? Ask for a referral to an endocrinologist. GP's have a different standard of "normal" thyroid levels than an endocrinologist. Even being on the "lower end of normal" can totally screw up your metabolism. Everything that you're experiencing sounds like it could be caused…
